    How Would You Respond?

I don't think of Facebook as private in any sense of the word. And OP titled this topic "how would you respond". This is how I would respond. But I won't be told to sit quietly like a child on a chat-site!!! Sure keep it secret! Lol! Like people won't snicker it behind your backs, knowing nothing, because you've told them nothing. Oh, and yeah- low carb high Protein has REALLY worked for y'all before! Thank you mam!

    Galbladder Symptoms>?

Have you ever had a baby? It's like that! I would go into shock and pass out when I got gallbladder pain, it was especially bad if I ate anything with any grease in it (because that's the gallbladders job- pump bile into stomach to combat food). It can be very dull, deep, with some sharp spasms, mostly upper but some lower abdomen. Lol- that sounds like a puzzle! I would def. check with a dr for an ultrasound or something because as mom2five said: nothing will make gb pain go away!!!

Oh and the weight gain is always possible! That's why this was step 1 leading to step 2 bypass! This surgery isn't malabsorptive, the biliary pancreatic diversion offers best weight loss over all surgeries, but more risk by far. If you get 2 + years out and need to lose more weight they can adapt the BPD to your sleeve, or do the total bypass.

Hey, Lila's her own person but I'm sure she would want you to take her situation seriously. That doesn't necessarily mean she'd want you to not do it or do it, either way If I was one of the 1% who had complications I would hope that meant statistically I took that pain away from you! (that's just me though) I think you should take the complications very seriously but see if you could handle them. Do you have help? Do you have a strong will? Do you have the $$$? Have you got a plan in place? Surgery is scary but you and your surgeon have prepared as much as possible to avoid complications! And finally, the scary stories are the ones that stick in your mind (it's the biology of our brains) but re-read the hundreds of threads of people who are very happy, some of whom had minor complications, and now can really live their life! Is it a real life you have right now? We're here for you either way, but I'm very jealous and praying for you!

    How Would You Respond?

As i said before, I would be very very careful about comparing weight loss surgery to issues regarding homosexuality. My original posts were not meant as a personal attack on OP, only a passionate argument for those of us who undergo wls not to further stigmatise it. As a sociologist I understand the importance of your lived experience, however I also know the power of public opinion and with obesity becoming a global epidemic I don't think it helps to turn a useful tool into something gossips play with for fun. The only reason people will whisper about it is if we don't speak about it loudly ourselves.

  9. Hey justine! Exercise is a great mood booster, my doc says 30 minutes walking increases mood same as low-dose antidepressants but when you struggle to even get out of bed exercise just isn't going to happen

The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg

    1. Having to use the "disabled" toilet because I don't fit in a regular stall. 2. The $COST$ of soooooo much take-out! 3. Feeling like shark-bait in the ocean because I'm the biggest & slowest swimmer out there! 4. (on someone else's list but a good one) wanting to eat the leftovers on other peoples plates [like a dog!] because I'm still so hungry! 5. Not being able to wear my beautiful heels anymore because they hurt and I'm scared of breaking them!!!

    I Need A Hug

(((((((HUGS))))))) all the way from Australia I'm sending you warmest wishes for this horrible time to be over so you can go on with your life! I hope some people here can help with advice on vitamins etc and I would recommend going for a spa/massage and colonic to help with the toilet troubles! Look after yourself!!!

  15. I'm on 120mg of cymbalta and 50g (I think) of endep... If you need to talk you can pm me anytime. This is a big change and it's not going to make our depression go away now, antidepressants should allow us to lift our head out of the well and peek about but it's up to us to climb out... If you feel like your still stuck in the well I suggest you see your dr and try to increase your medication a little bit, or talk through the sad/hopeless feelings and if there's a way to help... Also I find forcing myself to have a shower (nothing more, just a nice warm cleansing shower) can help me feel a little more ok, but if your too fatigued for that then I really suggest pulling on some sweats/pjs and def. seeing your dr This is a hard journey and you don't have food as a friend anymore I hope you feel better soon, try and visualise yourself happy- you haven't always felt this bad have you!? Remember how happy you were when... Well, when were you last really happy? Smiling? Content! Confident?! Have you got a pet? If you do give them a big hug! They love you unconditionally!!! Nothing is urgent, nothing can't wait a while, you're not letting anyone down! You just take time to recover physically and mentally and the world will still be there when you're ready! *peace*

I can bring you some magazines or a change of clothes or toiletries, anything to make your stay more comfortable!!! I will continue to pray for your health and happiness!!! Please get better soon, I miss you! Bethy

    Ladies, Tom Question!

I asked my general practitioner because I'm on contraceptive implant (never ever get my period anymore) and having lost weight quite rapidly pre-op I got a 9 day period, (very heavy and dark followed by very heavy and pink) and just felt so lethargic, got dizzy even sitting up- GP said it was probably related to the weight loss, shock to the system and all that, and that "sometimes the body just has to let it all out sometimes"... 9 days isn't "normal" but not necessarily life-threatening either. But I would consider getting a checkup because the last thing you want after wls is any vitamin or mineral deficiencies... *peace*

    How Would You Respond?

Who are we kidding though? People will notice we have lost weight and yeah maybe you can skirt around the issue (not everyone has to be the "spokesperson for wls" as ive been called) but especially if you broadcast your weight loss the conversation is going to come up. Why lie? Really? I mean don't you feel bad that you are just reinforcing the stereotype that if we can't do it on our own then wls is the "easy way out" and something to be gossiped about and told in whispers? Honestly, I think people are over reacting to treat wls as something to keep in the "closet"- it's nothing that people get lynched over, nobody is going to fire you or stop you from getting married or put you in jail for it! You did it, it saved your life, and it might just save someone else's if your honest about it...

I like your responses but the problem is if people flat-out lie

    How Would You Respond?

Honestly I would say its not a rumour it's the truth and I feel great, thanks for asking. You can't spread false hope like "oh I lost 50# with diet and exercise" it just makes the rest of us feel like sh*t coz we can't do that! There's either something wrong with wls or there isn't. And you have to rock the pride, not falsify it!
