Have you tried a natural non-sugar sweetener like stevia? I know it tastes better to me than those artificial sweeteners. -

tallysfunny replied to tallysfunny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok my November Sleevers!! I know there are a few challenges out there already, but I thought it would be nice to have one rocking for those of us that had our sleeves done in November. This way we track with people on a closer timeline with our own. Feel free to use it or not. Totally up to you. Hugs to you my November Sleeve family. Happy holidays and happy losing!! December Challenge: ends on 12/25/12. ~ Surgery Date (SD): 11/20/12 ~ Starting Weight (SW): 320 ~ Current Weight (CW): 297 ~ Goal Weight (GW): 275, with an ultimate goal of 270 cuz it would be a nice belated birthday present for myself (birthday is 12/21). * Bonus: Inches Lost. Haven't measured myself yet. Was waiting for my 1 week follow-up on 11/28 to do that. Tally -
How are you doing now? As of this morning I'm down 12 pounds since surgery and 23 total (including pre-op).

Perhaps gas-x? I take a chewable that is somewhat helping me post-op. -

I go it at a health food store, but Walgreens carries it and most grocery stores. It's in the organic aisle usually. But really any laxative tea that is made from senna leaf is pretty much the same thing. I prefer a more natural approach rather than more meds. And mine worked. I've gone twice today. I'm getting back to my normal. -

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

I'm 4 days post op and last night was the first night that I pretty much slept through the night. I woke up once at like 4 but I did sleep from 9-6:15. It's hard to sleep but it's getting more manageable. The best advice I can give is ride it out as best as you can. Ad if you haven't pooped yet...try smooth move tea. Omg it was a Godsend! That is a huge part of the battle with the gas. Get that flowing and it goes a long way towards helping you feel so much better. -

I'm on liquid loratab...tastes horrible. And I have to take benadrylwith it cuz it makes me itch so badly. I've done a lot of walking today. I just have a lot of gas that is making it feel like a pressure in my chest. I usually just thump my chest and it comes up as a burp or just dissipates. Just muddling through for now. Which is all any of us can do since none of us know for sure how our bodies will react to the process until its our turns. One second at a time. -

Two days post-op here. My belly is gurgling and trying my best to manage my pain. They weren't kidding when they said one side hurts more than another. It's e right side for me. Oh well. Happy thanksgiving everyone. Sleeved or still waiting...I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. -
It's my turn for surgery today. I have another hour before they take me back into OR holding. And no luck getting an IV. So this stinks but oh well. Wish me luck.

Thank you to all!! Can't wait to feel fabulous!

All checked in...sitting on a stretcher. Not scheduled for surgery until noon. Ad no luck in getting an IV started. I'm a tough one to get an IV on. Now I'm waiting for the anesthesiologist to do it once I get over to OR holding. Should be fun....NOT! Lol. BTW I wanted to share something that I figured out a few days ago but haven't had a chance to get on and post about it. I know this might gross people out but read everything I have to say before passing judgement. A few months back I was reading Oxygen magazine. In the advertisements I read about Egg Whites International. So I bought some and gave it a try. They taste good, not slimy or chalky. I also make a container of sugar free chocolate pudding and add one it to the shake and it smooths it out. I'm just saying it was yummy. I'm not being paid to say this...just thought I would share something that is working for me. -

I was told no carbs period for at least 6 months. Then the only carbs I am allowed are from fruits and veggies. No starches. The thing is, we can try to negotiate or cajole with ourselves all we want. At the end of the day we know what is the right thing. We just have to look at the sleeve as a do-over and make the right choices from there on out. Trying to justify our bad choices post sleeve is no different than what we did to get ourselves to the sizes and lifestyles we had become accustomed to. Lets do it the right way...so that we have the best results we can. That's my two cents. -
You're a ding bat....but I totally worry about that too. Lol.

Ok...so while I have been scheduled for my surgery for the 20th, I jumped through the hoops, am well into my pre-op diet, went to all the appointments and even signed my consents for surgery...the one thing that was missing or that I was waiting on was my approval from the insurance company. With 4 days and hours left until my surgery I finally got my ding dang darn approval. Nothing like stressing me out, though I'm loathe to show that to anyone. But let me be the first to say...about damn time!! So I'm officially approved and there is nothing...knock on wood...to delay this. Lord...watch me get hit by a car or something completely stupid. Lol. -
