If something WERE to happen to your stomach, there's an 80% or so chance that the affected part of your stomach would have already been removed. Right?

What was your pre-op A1C? Did your surgeon have an A1C requirement? I learned today my A1C is 10 . Very high. However, I'm also on chemotherapy for another 3 1/2 weeks. No steroids, though. My morning fasting numbers have been pretty high (200-300) and I am on oral meds, as well as Novolog and Lantus. My endocrinologist would like me at 7 before surgery. Given the amount of time I have waited for my sleeve, I hate to think of anything getting in the way once I finish chemo, but this could be a big problem, I think. I'm hoping my numbers will drop drastically after I finish chemo. Exercise is nearly impossible since my chemo concentrations are quite high after 6 cycles (number 7 in two days). Tired doesn't even come close to describing the level of fatigue. I may just have to try, though. And eating a very low carb diet may be helpful. Any encouragement appreciated.

I saw Dr. Lemanski again today and have a nice visit. He was actually pretty normal and we had a great chat. He is very certain I can be on my way with my sleeve surgery just as soon as I'm recovered from the second stage of my breast reconstruction. I will see him again mid-June and should get my clearance at that visit! WOOT! -
What i have to put up with
BrickHouse replied to fyre_storm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wear a CPAP and wear earplugs. If I can still hear my hubby through that, which is quite often, I'm allowed to wake him up. Why does the snorer fall asleep first anyway? -
Monster Poos - The Smelly Secret Behind Stalls or What can Brown Doodoo for you?

Dang, you're a power dumper! -
I had one for SIX WEEKS with my mastectomies. SIX whole weeks! It was pure evil. It's the only thing I am dreading about getting my sleeve.

Cut it in to medallions, brown in a little olive oil, and remove the medallions to a plate. Deglaze your pan with a splash of balsamic vinegar and a spoonful of brown sugar. You could even use Splenda. Just something to take the bite out of the balsamic. Stir this until it bubbles and reduces a bit. Add the medallions back to the pan to finish cooking.

I've scheduled my updated clearance with Dr. Lemanski for April 12. I sort of look forward to seeing him again and hope he sings to his fish again. My breast reconstruction will come first, then my sleeve. I hope I don't need any additional repeat-clearances. I am hoping for a June sleeve date! -

Nearing goal and family is complaining
BrickHouse replied to NDN_RN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ack! Were they worried that you were getting too fat? Sorry, but people who offer this kind of "support" really tick me off. Where was the concern when you were eating yourself to death? No offense to your family. -

My pulmonary appt and two sleep studies took longer than anything else. Very frustrating. -
Anyone planning to do the deed in July?
BrickHouse replied to SpaceDust's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe my surgery date will fall sometime in late June or early July. I've been waiting a long time, as you can see in my signature. I will be swapping my tissue expanders for implants in early June and as soon as I recover from that surgery, I'll be more than ready to be sleeved! -
At least you were in the shower. Best wishes!

Continued improvement, bit the bullet and told my friends through Facebook
BrickHouse commented on BigDaddyJoe's blog entry in My journey
I love this post. I'd like your permission to use a lot of what you've written in my own FB post once I'm sleeved. Your words really hit home and you've effectively explained your position and laid down the law concerning what kind of feedback you will tolerate. I give you so much credit for your candor and honesty. -
pulmonology appt today what to expect?
BrickHouse replied to Lee 316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some breathing tests where I sat in a clear enclosure with a mask and had to breathe in and out or hold my breath when the tech signaled. . Nothing hard or invasive. No treadmills (thank God) and nothing painful. My sleep study was also part of the pulmonary clearance. I actually had two sleep studies - one without a CPAP and one with a CPAP. -

Evolve is a new one from the Muscle Milk people. It has monkfruit, stevia and cane juice and it tastes really good. 110 calories, 12g protein, 14g carbs, 3g fat, and 5g fiber. -
Congratulations! I have tissue expanders now, post-mastectomy, and will be getting my implants either just before or just after my sleeve later this su mmer. I voiced my concern to my plastic surgeon about my upcoming weight loss and how might it affect my new boobies, and he said, "Don't worry - they're not going anywhere!"

Dr. Trivedi said that the rest of my clearances should still be valid, but I will most likely have to see Dr. Lemansky again before we submit to insurance this summer. -

Sometimes - depends on your nutrition needs. He's certainly a character. People either love him or hate him! He's an excellent doctor, either way. -

I am also with Dr Trivedi. I'm in Rensselaer. I've had some delays (see below), but I've been in contact with Dr. Trivedi regularly and I agree he's awesome. I have not yet had to deal with the lady who replaced Dawn. Dawn and Nate were very nice and helpful. I agree that Dr. Lemansky is an acquired taste! When I saw him, he had a student with him, so he offered up lots more small talk and information, probably for the student's benefit. At one appointment, I was in the waiting room and he came out from a side door, to feed the fish in his gorgeous aquarium. He was practically singing, "Good morning, babies! Daddy;s coming to feed you!" It was pretty loud for a medical office and I had to giggle. -
Very nice! Congratulations!
