    Chafing ..help

  2. Wow glad to hear you are doing better. That is a major concern, my doctor discussed with me. Nicking the spleen could cause major bleeding, that is why they work so hard to ensure the liver is made smaller if we have fatty livers so there's room to see and the retractor does not nick anything either. All the best in your recovery.
  3. Seems like we are all full of it. LOL. What to weigh once empty? Muscle? I hope to uncover a six pack somewhere on the bod. LOL
  4. Centrum comes in a chewable, try CVS, Walmart, Kmart, target, rite-aid, drugstore.com, amazon.com, Walgreens, these stores carry it also try your local market. Not sure about the shakes sorry, contact your nutritionist for accurate information.

    Stalling

I have been reading posts from the site now for a few weeks and I am always amazed when folk post about stalling. I'm not due for my surgery until the 22nd of this month and like all of us want to know what to expect pre and post surgery, but I am always so amazed at the panic that seems to be displayed when one is not losing weight. Managing one's expectations would be my advice. We do not gain weight instantly nor will we lose weight that way. We all heal differently and our bodies will react differently. Don't jump on the scale every day, again manage the expectation. Try once a week or do a bi-monthly weigh in. Be true to yourself. I know for example that I may cheat on my pre-op diet over the next two weeks. But since there are buffers provided by my NUT, I purchased what I will need to succeed, unsweetened applesauce and SF jello. They will be great snacks in between slimfast shakes. Adjust your diet, use tools that will help, myfitnesspal.com is a good source. Have a good intake of water, and as should be our norm by now, take in protein first. I think another suggestion is not to give up. We worked so hard to get here, over come all types of problems in order to succeed. Let stall equate to adjust, that is what your body and systems are doing, adjusting. This new way of eating and lifestyle takes some adjusting. As we continue on our journery I wish us all success.

    Stalling

I guess my mind set and having spoken to my doctor about my fears and concerns have allowed me to not want to weigh or even be disappointed if the weight is now just falling away. I'm know the body does strange things in order to compensate for trauma and this surgery is trauma, part of a organ is being cut away. I know I will win the race it's the view along the way that I want to take in. So stalling would allow me to view what the body is doing and how it's healing. I figure with 40+ years of obesity, what's a little stall every now and then? Keep up the fight! Sleevers rock!

    Almost time!

I didn't tell anyone at my place of business. They have known I've been working out like a fiend and eating healthier for months now. I did tell my boss I would be out to have surgery. But they did not ask and I did not tell; the laws say I don't have to. He just said to take care of myself and return healthy. Oh I plan too! Healthier and smaller. :-)
  12. I want to look fabulous when I hit the operating table in 4 days. It's a little vain, but is so rare that I am. I figured I would get a hair cut tomorrow, then once home dye my hair. I want to shave the legs and pits (doc said no shave two days before surgery), and have my feets loved on some. Mind you, I will look like a freight train hit me or at least may feel like it once out of recovery, but when I do feel better these will be things done to the 3 weeks I am off I will be ok. The blood thinners should be finished by then as well and on my last day of recovery do it all again in order to return to work . I want to find a nice dress my new body show-off. LOL My excitement is just starting to build. My niece surprised me and is doing better and has opted to take a week off of work to stay with me. I could just cry I am so happy. I plan to do something really nice for her. Well I'm off to a SF drink. This hot weather has me sucking up fluids.

    Fabulous while on the table

Had the hair cut yesterday going to dye it today trying to decide if I want to be blond or red. Lol Will get dressed shortly in order to have feet done. Then home to do all last minute cleaning and packing for Monday's surgery.

    They are falling!

In May I wore a skirt that was rather snug. Today I put on the same skirt and i can spin the waist band around without any problem. It looks wonderful! The pounds are falling away and the dress sizes right along with them. What a great feeling. I can only imagine what it will be like after surgery. The Salvation Army and Goodwill are going to receive tons of clothes from me soon. So excited. I can't wait to purge the closets. I have planned to start with my winter clothes. All 22/20 are going out the door. I have a pair of jeans that I keep as motivation. I try them on once a month. I plan to try them on Sunday before surgery so I can see how far I've come to my goal. Let them fall is what I say, let them fall!

    They are falling!

I go to Homecoming every year at the university I attended. I found a pretty gown for a function. The 16 fit but I purchased the 14. By October I know I will be that small. I'm working to hard not to be. Lol

    Bummed out

Thank you all for the well wishs and I greatly needed the hugs. The family is doing much better. In fact my niece has been really good all week and told me yesterday that she plans to stay at my place the week of surgery, she'll arrive once I get out (Tuesday) and look after me. I figure with doing clear liquids for the first week there in not much to prepare, scoop some jello in a bowl or heat some broth. I don't want to tax her either, this heat has not been kind to her. Again, thank you all for your kind words they are greatly appreciated. Karen

    Bummed out

This has been the worst three days! I moved on Wednesday, while on day three of liquid diet. The move took three days! Everything hurts. Protein shakes alone did not help. I have a car full of crap to unload and it's raining buckets. I just want my new home in order befor surgery! I feel like crying. But I had some broth and I'm beginning to feel some what better. Maybe a power nap is in order. Lol My sister was to come to be with me for the surgery and she called today to tell me she has something wrong with her leg and is at the ER. She may need surgery. I'm pulling up my big girl panties and pushing forward. Then I thought about my mom all weekend during the move, I miss her so much; she's been gone for six years but it still feels like yesterday. I wish my mom had taken the chance to have the surgery 10 years ago. I honesty believe she would still be here. Ok shaking off the blues, I'll be my own sunshine along with the help of fellow sleevers. This is our month July, the new me is itching to come out, some are ahead of me and some are behind, but we will all graduate!
  18. I have been on my pre-op diet and I have noticed my skin looks and feels weird. I am getting a lot of body acne and the texture feels different. I guess my system is in a detox mode. Has anyone else experienced changes in their skin?
  19. kw2walker

What is happening to my skin

Days away from surgery and the skin is getting a bit better. I find that if I put lemon in my water it helps greatly. I guess the pre-op diet and the lemon water are a good detox for the old body. LOL

    FINALLY!

Find out first if your insurance will cover the procedure, then see what the requirements are to proceed. Then find the hospital you want to go to and set up a consult. They will then take you though what is next.
