I have struggled with my weight the past 12 years and with each cycle of losing and gaining, it eroded a little more of my self esteem. As of late my weight started affecting my personal relationships and that was a large part in helping me decide surgery was my way to regain control of my life. I considered surgery in April 2009 but decided against is largely because of the backlash I got from friends and family and I started to buy into I was from a "big family" so it was okay to be big. This time around I have only told a few people of my decision to have surgery. I am also so much more confident in my decision.

I am mom to a wonderful 20 year old daughter. I had her when I was really young and while this should be no young girls story, having my daughter at such a young age really set me on the straight and narrow. We have beat all odds stack against teenage moms. She graduated #4 in her class and is currently studying to be a nurse.

We are both really excited about what this surgery will mean for my life. She has made it clear that I cannot share her clothes...lol...August 17th will be much like a second birthday for me as it will be day I get a redo at literally shaping my external person and rediscovering my inner person.
