  1. Since I had a 6 month process prior to final approval, I felt I was very well prepared for the surgery. By the time surgery day rolled around, I was at ease and totally prepared for it. I am loving my sleeve now....I'm still working on eating slowly and being able to tell when my tummy is full. I'll have to admit, I'm one of those that have vomited quite a few times when forgetting to chew thoroughly or swallowing too big a bite at a time. Even with this, I would do it again in a split second since I feel so much better and am off my BP med and cut my antidepressant med in half. I am very happy with my decision!
  2. Just do everything your nutritionist tells you to during the 6 months. It really helps you prepare for the surgery. I wish you all the best with the process!
  3. Whenever a headline on the web pops up about tips for losing weight, I almost always click on them. Well the other day, I read where it said to weigh yourself every day for accountability. This way if you see the scale moving in the wrong direction, you can make adjustments for it. I find that that works for me. I know there will be stalls and weight increase fluctuations, but when I see the scale move up, then it makes me pause and think over what I ate the day before and make adjustments if necessary. Usually I wait until 3-4 days to see if my weight hovers around the same few tenths, if so then I take action by increasing my calories, Fluid intake, or exercise. Anyone else use the scale for accountability, without "freaking out" when the numbers go up?

    High heels?

Don't you have to do it slowly so your feet can adjust to the heels? I think of when I got my first pair of Birkenstocks that it took me about a week for my feet to get use to the arch supports....love them now. I'm looking forward to slowly getting into some 2-3" heels.

    Using the Scale for Accountability

Glad to hear there are others that weigh themselves on a daily basis.

    Gas? Full?

Yep, my tummy "talks" to me too. When my daughter hears it, she tells me to slow down on my eating...lol

I can't believe it is done.

Congrats CocoSammy! Yep, lots of space here on the losers bench for everyone!

    Primary and secondary

It probably is a good idea to check with your insurance companies to see what they cover. I hope you get your approval!

    Finally!

Congrats! I hope you get a date soon!

    Dizzyness

Are you making sure you're getting enough fluids and protein? How's your blood pressure?

    I can SEE it

Yep, I can see it! Congrats!

    Ideas for Pureed Food

How about nonfat cottage cheese, apple sauce (add protein powder to it), pureed turkey chili. Oh puree soups. I remember making maryland crab soup and pureeing it...loved it!
  15. I would go through VA. The time will go by faster than you think. Whats 6-8 months compared to the rest of your life? You can then save the money for a nice reward when you reach goal. I was all set to have surgery done in Mexico until I found out my insurance covered it after a 6 month program. I was able to get lots of information from them that by the time surgery rolled around, I wasn't nervous at all.

    celebrating small victories

On my surgery date I was wearing 18W. So I guess about 8 weeks. I've been making sure I got in my Proteins, fluids and exercise each day. I eat 60-80grams of Protein, drink 9-12 cups of Water, and I walk about 5-7 miles per day...occasionally missing a day.

    3 NSVs in a 24 hour period

Nice NSVs! I went shopping today at lunch time and I found that I was able to fit into some size medium tops. It was a little snug (but passable). So I bought 2 medium tops so that they will fit me for a much longer period. I can't afford to keep buying clothes right now. I am going to have to find a thrift shop store near me. I know where donation centers are at, but not stores...lol
  18. I like to think of it as a lifestyle change since I don't want to deprive myself of the foods that I like. Occasionally I get the urge for a piece of candy or cookie and I do have a half or one. In the past, I would be eating the half/whole package! I find that occasionally giving myself the "treats" hasn't harmed my weight loss and it definitely helps me get my mind off of it. Luckily I haven't had too many of those moments. I think you have to think of it whichever way works best for you. Have you been sleeved yet? If you have, how far out are you? If not, good luck with the approval process. Have I covered all my basis?

    Our Costs after insurance

Rebeca, you will be going through Surgical Associates as I did. With my company, I had to pay $5.00 copay to the surgeon, but here is a breakdown of benefits that I received from Kaiser. 21. I applaud you for standing up for "fat" people. You know "fat" is a relative term. She probably means that her "useless" son can't get a "useful" girlfriend.

    Waiting on Insurance

I know with kaiser insurance, the "approval committee" meets like twice a week so your insurance company may be like that where you may have just missed one of their approval processes and have to wait for the next one. good luck! I hope you get approved soon!

    I have a figure?

I saw mine 2 years ago, but now I'm planning for my curves to stay permanently this time after I find them.

Was it hard for you to

You don't have to worry about wrapping your mind around eating so little. Your new tiny tummy will do that for you. You will need your mind to help you make healthy eating choices. Good luck with getting approval!
  25. Hi...on Monday, I have my 5th class with my NUT. During the 4th class, we were given instructions to get the vitamins that we will be taking after surgery and to put together a sample liquid, pureed, and solid food menu. The sample menu they showed us was in 10 minute increments! I guess it's really good to learn how to do this, but how well are all you post-op VSGs able to stick to a menu like that. I mean are you or did you drink every 10 minutes the first couple of weeks post surgery?
