Diabetes cured post-op, then it returned? Let me know of this happened to you.
ISleevedIt replied to Cindy.mcg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I have high blood pressure and I am off my medication now. I must say it's a combination of exercise (for me it's walking) and eating healthier. Since I had started walking prior to surgery, I noticed that my blood pressure was coming down already. In the past, when I lost weight and exercised, my blood pressure was fine, but if I gained weight (from not eating right) and stopped exercising, my blood pressure went back up. I'm hoping that I will be able to continue with the healthy eating and exercising to stay off HBP meds. -
Awww...I'm sorry that this happened. I hope your doctor's office gets it straightened out so you'll be approved. Good luck!

Very nice! You look great!

How about Maryland crab soup...My grocery store sells a bag of veggies for making the soup, but I'm sure you could look up the recipe on line. It's delicious.

You are looking great! Congrats on the 45 lbs down! -
Are you talking about the feeling of food stuck in your throat? that's usually from eating too much or not chewing well enough that the food feels like it's stuck. Hope this helps.

Hmmm....I've transferred it to surfing the web. I've noticed that I've increased my spending too. Luckily it hasn't been any big spending....I'm just glad it's spring time and I can mess around with my plants. I'm going to try patio gardening.

ISleevedIt replied to kooks3003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! End of Nov? You should be able to lose quite a bit more since it's so far out. Just stick to your healthy eating plan, exercise, and get your water in and I'm sure you'll continue to lose. Also, congrats on your upcoming nuptials. -
12 day stall? Help!
ISleevedIt replied to bluemonk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No you're not the only one. If you're doing everything right, then it's just water you're retaining. Your measurements are probably still going down. Usually when I hit a stall, I increase my calories and water. Even if I don't hit a stall, I randomly increase my calories for a day and I also increase my exercise (walking). I try not to do it the same day of the week, so my body doesn't get into a routine. Also try searching on "stalls". You will find this is normal and you will also find explanations of stalls. Good luck with breaking it. -

when will it get better?
ISleevedIt replied to jessicakayyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sipping cold or hot liquids. Switch it up and see if that helps. As everyone says, it only gets better and better. Hang in there! Shoot what am I saying with "hang in there"? You have no choice but to hang in there. Try to think positive and think about how much healthier you'll be and all the things you'll be able to do that you haven't been able to! -
I drink a V8

Did you eat the bread with it? If you did, then maybe next time only eat half or less of the bread. Fold the patty in half and you have a double cheese burger I haven't had a cheeseburger yet, but I like going to Arby's and getting the kid's roast beef sandwich, tossing out the bread. I also like to eat Popeye's spicy chicken drumstick. Only one will fill me up...lol

I have taken a different outlook on "cheating"...there is no such thing as "cheating" in my world. If I choose to eat some junk food, then I try to only do one serving then I think about how much more calories I have to burn or if I haven't surpassed 1000 calories for the day yet, then I have it. I find it's not like in the past, a serving or less is enough, but I make sure that I get my Protein and drinks in each day. Oh, and my goal is to burn 2000 calories a day. I use my fitbit to monitor the calories burned. Talking to a therapist/counselor or going to a support group can help. I go to a WLS support group sponsored by Kaiser each month.

I had a 6 month process also. I was a human yo-yo....losing/gaining all the time. I learned a lot during that time that helped with the surgery. Remember 6 months is nothing compared to the rest of your life.

It is probably just water weight your body is retaining since it's going through such a drastic change in eating style. Good luck with your pre-op diet and I wish you a uneventful surgery and speedy recovery. Keep up with the walking and fluids and proteins. It will help you with the healing.

How much can u eat?
ISleevedIt replied to michelle38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 weeks out and I find that I can eat about 2-4 oz of meat and about 1/4 cup veggies at one sitting. I still drink a protein shake for either breakfast or lunch. I'm eating between 700-1000 calories a day. -
I was feeling good the second day after surgery. I mean I still felt the manageable pain (with no meds) of the largest incision, which was where the surgeon pulled the cut off portion of my stomach out. I went in with a complete understanding of what I had done to my body and knew what I had to do to feel better. I had been walking about 5 miles each day PRIOR to the surgery that I was able to walk and get in all my fluids and proteins. My main focus was fluids, proteins, and walking my first couple of weeks.
