    Bed Bugs! Ewwww!

If they are so hard to get rid of....is it time to put plastic over everything? I know they make plastic mattress covers and pillow case covers.....I hope the bed bugs don't fine there way into my home. Good luck with getting rid of them Pinky
  8. Congrats! You're doing great! Way to go!
  9. Well, I had my first WLS class with Kaiser. When the nutritionist weighed me and computed my bmi it was 40.3. Since my blood pressure is under control and I'm not on any medication for high cholesterol (even though my LDL is well above normal), she wasn't sure if I would qualify or not and have to put my case before the OWC committee for approval or denial. What are my chances of getting approved? If they don't approve me, will they cover any complications if I get it done in Mexico? I am really tired of yo-yoing with my weight.
  10. Well, with my first WLS class, the nutritionist said that it would be up to the OWC to approve/disapprove me. She didn't make it sound very positive. I guess I have to try and be patient and wait until the 22nd to find out. Currently, I'm trucking on as if I will get approved and have set up a Weight Control class and an appointment with the nutritionist. I'm just hoping that everything will work out so I can get the surgery in Jan/Feb timeframe. Keep your fingers cross for me.....thanks.
  11. Bummer, I am only 84 lbs overweight....I can't believe I'm upset because I'm not more overweight. The thing is I'm a yo-yo. I lose the weight then gain it back with a few pounds more and I'm tired of it. In the last 12 months, I've lost 60 lbs just to gain it a back and a few more! I want the sleeve so that I will have the physical restriction to keep me from pigging out on food. I'm not too concern with getting fat from drinking the wroing fluids since my drinks of choice are Water, diet coke unsweeten tea, and occasionally some other zero calorie drinks. I do have high blood pressure that is under control with meds. My LDL cholesterol was high in my last checkup, but am not on any meds for it and I think I my doctor said that I had to be careful that I may be prediabetic or close to having diabetes. As each day goes by, waiting to hear if my VSG will get approved, I feel more and more like just scheduling it with Dr. Garcia in Mexico. The only thing stopping me from scheduling it now is that KP may pay for it and I would have the follow up care. Does anyone know if I get the VSG outside of Kaiser, that Kaiser would do follow-up care for me? Thanks for any info!
  12. Hi, I'm new to this site, but wanted to introduce myself. I'm hoping to get VSG done through Kaiser. I'm 49 years old and am 5'3" and weigh 219. Over the years I have yo-yoed with my weight. This past year and a half, I was able to lose 60 pounds, just to gain it all back. I am hoping the VSG will keep me from "pigging" out. I just can't seem to keep the weight off. I was so happy when I lost the weight this last time that my friend convinced me to get rid of all my big size clothes (20/22) and was wearing small/medium size. Now, I only have a handful of clothing that fit me because I am back up to a 20/22....so depressing! Oh, I am back on my high blood pressure medicine and am borderline with high cholesterol. Anyway, I emailed my PCP and she responded back the next day with an appointment set up for me to go to the first WLS class. Based on the info they sent me, I will need to attend 6 visits with the nutritionist or class. Also I will need to set an appointment with the Behavioral Health Evaluation and "cleared" by them before my case would be presented to the Obesity Work Group (OWG) who will then approve/disapprove my request for VSG. Has anyone else gone through the process to be denied by OWG? If I don't get approved by Kaiser, I am seriously considering going to Mexico to have the procedure even though my husband is not so keen about me going out of the country for the surgery. If I have to pay for it all myself, then I'm going the cheaper route...especially since I have a child in college and another going in another year.
  13. I had my first WLS class today and my case have to go to OWG committee to determine if I qualify or not. I have a BMI of 40.3 but the nutritionist said that may not be enough....I'm bummed out
  14. Thanks and congrats to you on your recent approval! I am determine to follow their guide lines for a better chance of approval.
  15. Thanks for sharing your story....I'm hoping I will qualify for the sleeve. I see the nutritionist in 2 weeks....If Kaiser doesn't pay for it, then I will go outside of Kaiser and have it done. I am tired of yo-yoing with my weight. I can't believe I took off 60 pounds and gained it all back in 6 months time. I'm hoping the sleeve will be just the tool I need to help control my binge eating.
  16. Hi...I have my initial kaiser appt scheduled with the nutritionist on Aug. 6th. I hope I will qualify as a candidate. I'm 5'3" and weight 216 lbs. Anyone else go through Kaiser in Virginia? My PCP said I had to go through 6 months of classes...that sure is a long time...I was hoping to get in done in the next 1-3 months.
