Am I Half Way To A Sleeve?

Wow, Kaiser makes me go through 6 months of this and then the surgeon makes me go through another process?

    One Year Anniversary

Great job on your weight loss! Hope everything is going better with your husband and sorry to hear about your mother.
  3. Well, I've been so sure that I want the VSG until I attended a WLS support group meeting. There was 1 VSG person and 3 roux-en-y people. It got me wondering if I'm making the right decision with VSG. How did you all come to the decision that the sleeve is the best choice for you?

    Vsg Versus Roux-En-Y ?

Thanks for all the input! It helps me to bring my decision back to a solid sleeve. I still have 3 more months to go before I get final approval to see the surgeon. No more wishy washy me....sleeve it is!

    Im Finally Sleeved

Way to go! I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  8. I want to be - Healthy and not ashamed of my size - I want to be able to get around without being out of breath - I want to not be embarrassed around people that have seen me yo-yo with my weight - I want to be able to buy nice clothes instead of at Walmart because my size changes so much - I like to be able to fit into the same clothes for more than a year at a time - I want to feel attractive and have others think I am also - I want my husband to "want" me again
  9. Hi Joy, I'm 49 and am currently going through the process for a sleeve. I can definitely relate with being a human yo-yo. It's no fun. I want to get healthy and be able to enjoy life more...especially when the time comes for me to retire from working. I want to have my health to travel and hopefully have grandkids to keep up with by then. I'm opting for the sleeve because I want something permanent to restrict the amount of food I put in it. Hopefully this will help me catch myself before I gain all the weight back again as I've done too many times to even count. Good luck with your decision!

    Where Is Everyone From?

  11. Hi, I began the WLS process with Kaiser in the beginning of August. I'm still a long ways off from surgery, but was wondering if Kaiser requires a pre-op diet? I need to lose 7 lbs. I was able to lose 2 pounds last month, but stress eating has got me putting the weight back on and then some. Is it a requirement to lose the weight prior to the surgery?
  12. Congrats! I am envious of all you with Kaiser that doesn't have to go through a 6 month course before getting final approval and meeting with the surgeon. the NUT told me it wouldn't be till Mar/Apr timeframe I'm trying not to overeat and I find that I have a hard time controlling myself...even if I try to portion my food.
  13. Best wishes to you all for a speedy recovery!

    Lost And Alone

It's hard with no insurance. Maybe you can find a job that offers insurance. You're young and it's expected for you to job hop. Who knows you may even find a company that will help pay for your education. Where there's a will there's a way....I wish you all the best!

    Psych. Appt.

Thanks! Very helpful info. I have my psych eval on 10/5. I am on medication for depression. I hope the doctor gives me a thumbs up. She's the same one that put me on antidepressants.

    Wow! that's fantastic!
  21. So sorry to hear about your leakage. I wish you and your family all the best and hope you heal soon.
  22. I just had my 1st individual appointment with my NUT going through Kaiser insurance. I will be finished with all my class requirements in January. She then told me that I still have to go through the approval process then meet with the surgeon so it wouldn't be until Mar/Apr time frame before I get sleeved. Why does it take so long? I thought i read that other people with Kaiser insurance took about 3 months. It just makes me want to fly to Mexico....but I won't since I need to save that money for my kids' college tuition.
  23. thanks! I know the time will go by and so far I haven't really learned anything new...well except that I don't have much will power when it comes to portion control.
  24. Kaiser has approved me for the Weight Loss Program! Now my VSG journey is official. So far, I've had my first nutrition class and had the Weight Loss Control class and I'm scheduled for my first individual appointment with the nutritionist the beginning of Sept. If all goes well, then I hope to get sleeved in Jan/Feb timeframe.....I hope to lose a lot of my weight (need to lose approx. 86 lbs) before I turn 50 in July. Yayyyyy!
