you can walk in place at home...or up and down steps...or get a walking dvd from walmart which wouldn't cost too much

    Depressed

Big Hugs to you! I don't think you're a kook. I've been up and down with my weight also. The worse was in 2011 I lost 60 lbs but gained it all back with 6 months and then some. I am in my 5th month of classes before I get the final approval to see my surgeon and like you I think it's taking forever. I have my last appointment with the NUT in January. I can't make a Dec appt because my last appointment wasn't quite 4 weeks apart and she said that we should play it safe and not have the last appt til January to improve my chances of getting the final approval. My weight has been yo-yoing also. I have to lose 7 lbs as part of the approval process. I've managed to lose 11 lbs. What helped me is having a pedometer and working on getting in 10,000 steps a day. Maybe you could try the pedometer to see if it helps you keep on track. Good luck! Since it's the holiday season, I think the time will fly by. Oh, by the way, I suffer from depression also and am on meds for it. I find the walking does help it. I probably won't be able to have the surgery til Feb/Mar/Apr timeframe. I'm not sure how long the surgeon's process takes.
  7. You've thought this through and it sounds like beginning of summer would be best for you. Plenty of time to recuperate. A sleeve buddy is a great idea. Good luck. I'm sure whatever decision you make, it will be the best one for you.
  8. I bought my son a magic bullet a couple of months ago for college. He loves it and it's easy for him to keep clean. My husband recently bought me one and I see it is very easy to clean. I like it. I'm still working on the approval phase but thought I get a head start with the bullet and sometimes drink protein shakes as a meal replacement.

    Got My New Surgery Date!

Wishing you all the best...can't wait til I can say I have a surgery date.
  10. Congrats on getting a date! I'm still going through the process. Remember tomorrow is a new day...just start over again! You can do this! You know you want to be on the loser's bench....and I want to find you there when I get my sleeve...probably won't be til next Mar/Apr timeframe, I'm told by my NUT. Good luck!

    Will This Actually Work?

maybe you hit a stall early on. Just keep at it and get in some exercise (or increase it) each day. don't give up on your sleeve. Oh, try counting your calories...If you burn off more than you eat then you know you'll be losing weight.

Help! I Am On A Bender

Or make yourself burn off the calories you eat from the candy...at least it will definitely keep you from gaining weight and could help get you to start losing weight again. I started using a pedometer and trying to get in 10,000 steps a day. It's a goal to meet each day. I started slowly though and have worked up to 10,000. After wearing the pedometer for a day, I worked on adding 500-1000 steps a day to get to 10,000. Sometimes I just walk around the house to get in the steps....lol

    Failing!

Hi...I'm have 4 of the 6 required visits before final approval to see the surgeon. I would be glad to try to help you. Email me JWaller...is that how we try to support each other? I know going thru the 6 month process is hard. I'm a very impatient person. Slowly try to change your eating habits...lay off the carbonated drinks and try to not drink during meal times. You're not suppose to drink half hour before and half hour after eating. I'm still working on this. By making small changes, you can get there. I had to lose 7 pounds before surgery and I've currently lost 9 pounds. I've started walking slowly that I am now up to one hour a day (5 - 6 times a week). I started using a pedometer to try and get in 10,000 steps. I was told that it roughly works out to about 5 miles. Oh, I had to keep a food journal of what and when I eat each day. That does help since the NUT does look at it and makes suggestions. It wasn't til the 3rd month that i gave up soda completely. Just remember that by slowly making the lifestyle change, you have a better chance of sticking to it. Good Luck!

    Surgery Tomorrow At 9:30Am

    Best wishes to you!
  15. So I have finished 4 of the 6 required visits by Kaiser. I will have a NUT appt in Nov then Dec and my paperwork should then go to the board for approval. I understand then will meet with the surgeon...What do I have to go through with the surgeion before I get a surgery date. Oh, my Kaiser is in Virginia.

    Hiding The Scale

Yeah, it is hard to stay away from the scale. Great philosophy to work on better life and not a number...I will have to remember this when I get sleeved.

I Know You Mean Well, But........

Hi Imlosingit....just wanted to say you have a very pretty face and smile....it's like your smile lights up your whole face! Focus on that while they're talking about there experiences...they share doom and gloom and you think happy thoughts instead
  18. I'm sorry to hear about your heart condition....I hope everything goes well with your VSG and you get on the eligibility list for a new heart. I wish you all the best and will be thinking/praying for you that all goes well tomorrow.
  19. I believe they are the white creamy ones...or just check the ingredients if you are buying canned soup.

Am I Half Way To A Sleeve?

With Kaiser insurance, my pcp gave me a referral to the bariatric program and then I have to go through 6 months of Kaiser's classes and NUT visits before I get final approval for the surgery then I get the referral to the surgeon. I was told that I had to finish the 6 month program before I could attend the surgeon's seminar. I guess I'm getting impatient here and want to get to the sleeved part...lol

Am I Half Way To A Sleeve?

The NUT told me after my 6 visits and I get approved my the "committee" then I would get my approval/referral to see the surgeon and I would have to meet the surgeons requirements. I tried calling the surgeons office and basically was told that I need to get my approval from Kaiser first.....all I want is an understanding of the process...I was hoping to be able to get sleeved in Feb/Mar timeframe.

    Comppliments = Eating?!

Have you talked to a therapist? I haven't had the surgery yet, but I'm seeing a therapist and he told me how he had a VSG patient that gained all the weight back because she was uncomfortable with attention from men since she was raped at a young age...remember this is a tool and if you don't use it right when you get it, you can gain the weight back. I've decided that I am going to keep seeing my therapist as long as my insurance covers it to help me with my stress and depression to keep me on the right track with this weight loss....hope everything goes well for you.

    My Terrible Day

Sorry to hear about all your problems Bel12...I hope you can get an appointment with the doctor to see what he/she has to say. Just remember you can do anything you put your mind to...don't let a nutty NUT be an obstacle to a healthier lifestyle for yourself.....good luck!
