ISleevedIt replied to ASKSARAH - Sleeve's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery! Hope you get a chance to enjoy a little of Mexico while you're there. -
Fantastic! That's great news! I bet it's nice to be free of meds.

Hi. I'm preparing for a Feb 21st surgery. My work just gave me Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paper work to fill out. Did any of you have to do that? I just want to make sure the doctor doesn't write down anything that indicates the type of surgery.

Hahaha! I want that too. I forgot to ask the doctor about it, but when I go in for my pre-op visit, I'm going to ask. -

I haven't had surgery, but my understanding is that it's normal for the weight gain. I'm sure you'll see weight loss soon. Good luck! -
Ok...I was wondering if it was normal to have to fill it out? I have plenty of sick leave built up to cover the time I'm out.

6month requirement. Gaining more than losing.
ISleevedIt replied to BarrCarr's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was told that I needed to lose the specified weight or the process could take longer...as long as it took to lose the weight. Luckily I was able to lose the weight in the 6 months time. What I found very helpful is using a pedometer and worked my way up to taking 10,000 steps a day. Maybe you could trying being more active while you take the protein drinks. Good luck and I hope everyone looking for approval gets it! -
I'm 3 days behind you!

My surgery is coming up on Feb 21. Is it morbid to ask for my stomach that the surgeon removes?

Pre-Ops Diets are evil!
ISleevedIt replied to StudSleever_E's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
And this is exactly why we need the sleeve. I'm not sure when I will start the pre-op diet. My surgery is on the 21st. The surgeon did say a 7-10 day pre-op diet for me. It makes me want to pig out now before I can no longer do it Hope you have a better day tomorrow. -
I'm so sorry to hear that work is giving you a hard time. You know what is best for you, so just politely tell them that you thank them for their concern but you know what's best for your health. I hope you have a better day at work tomorrow.

Good night all, wish me luck.

Good Luck! Hope you have a speedy recovery! -
I've not heard of that, but my surgeon told me that he would give me meds to help with blood clot prevention

2 1/2 weeks post surgery; weight loss stopped
ISleevedIt replied to learningtoliveright's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read that it could happen, but it's mainly Water retention. As long as you stick to the Protein first rule and eating healthy, your body is still losing the fat and just storing more water as it adjusts to the weight loss....I think I also read somewhere that changing up what you eat or increasing activity/exercise can help break through a stall. Good luck. -
Yayyyy! Glad to hear you had a nice trip and didn't gain weight. It's nice to hear that you can have some of the "yummy, but not good for you food" and not gain weight....I know in moderation and Congrats on the 199!

Hmmm...I wonder if they can take a picture of it for me....the next best thing if I can't have it in a jar...lol

a little discouraged after information meeting
ISleevedIt replied to docbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I see a real benefit with the 6 month program with Kaiser. One of the requirements is to attend a support group session. I went to my first one in October and have continued to go to them (it's on a monthly basis). My surgery is not til Feb 21st. A suggestion is to try googling your area for a support group and if you can't find one, I think this site is a start. I find it very helpful to hear other patients that have gone to the same surgeon tell me their experiences. Good luck with finding the surgeon you're comfortable with. -
Colon Cleanse please help
ISleevedIt replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about prune juice? -
I'm going to try and remember to ask my surgeon when I go back for my pre-op appt. I was hoping to have it in a jar. I like to see what size it was.
-
Strange that your doctor doesn't have you on a no food after midnight at least prior to surgery. Usually that's for any surgery that involves anesthesia I thought. I would play in on the safe side and not eat anything after 3 a.m. So hopefully your stomach will be empty. Good luck with your surgery!

sorry to hear your a little depressed....try to focus on how great you'll look in a few months and how much healthier you'll be.
-
Today I had my first appointment with the surgeon and got my date of Feb 21! I am so excited that it'll be real soon.
