  1. I can't wait til I reach goal weight. My reward is going to be a new wardrobe. Then after maintaining for a year, the goal is a mommy makeover (purse strings permitting)
  2. Hehehe, I just posted earlier that I was "pigging out" some. I feel like I want to get all the delicious food in me before I no longer can. I've pigged out on bread...and I'm not a big bread eater which is weird. Also on some chocolate. I've been offsetting it with walking each day. I hope to keep up with the walking so it will help me lose the maximum weight in the beginning. When is your surgery, sleeve buddy?
  3. That's great! keep it up! Can't wait til I'm on the loser's bench. soon.....

  8. Hey, look on the bright side....you won't have so much saggy skin! Don't forget to add in some exercise to help burn the calories. Hopefully that's some encouragement for you! Good luck!

    Gall Bladder?

Hi. I haven't had the surgery yet but my doctor said we don't need to remove it since I haven't had any problems with it. He gave me the impression that if I had problems in the past then he would consider removing it. Could depend on the doctor. Good luck with it.
  12. Arrgggghhhh! I've been trying to eat right, but a box of Milk Duds was calling my name. It kept saying "eat me, eat me..." I was hypnotized by it's words and I found myself buying the box. I then told myself, only a few. Well, I kept "only a few" to myself until the whole box was gone. It's a might discouraging. I know I have to control my portions and cut out the junk food. I am so afraid that after getting sleeved, I will continue with my bad eating habits. I can go for months being good and eating right, then once I fall off the wagon, I stay off for months and can't seem to get back up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to pick oneself up and continue forward rather than spiraling downward into the junk food pit?

    depressed!

Sorry I can't offer any insight, but I hope you get over the depression and get your BP up. Hey, salt causes high blood pressure, so would adding a little more salt in your food help?

    Coconut milk

You can try add protein (unflavored) to the coconut milk to turn it into a protein drink.

HELP! I need a good excuse!

RSVP to go, then give an extra nice wedding gift AFTER the fact and apologize for not making it...extra nice like a wedding gift plus some extra money to help cover the cost for two people not showing up. Who knows, you may feel up to going, but just not staying too late and if you end up not going, people are understanding that you can get sick, and the extra money gift would help ease the disappoint of the extra wedding expenditure.

    Introducing myself

Hi. Welcome to the site. Wow, I don't feel like such a newbie any longer. Now I'm reading posts of others that are starting the journey as I sit here with a surgery date. Don't worry, the time will go by fast. At times, I thought it moved slowly, but now that surgery is a couple of weeks out for me, I felt the time flew right by. I think the extra time helped me to confirm that this was the right decision that I've made. I feel like "bring it on" I'm all ready for the surgery with no doubts....who knows how I'll feel when the date gets closer

A $2,000 Bill in the mail

Hey, if you were approved by your insurance, then I would think anesthesia would be covered...unless they think your made of steel and don't need anesthesia. Good luck with getting it resolved.
  20. Well, from what I've been reading on this site. Everyone loses at different rates. So stick with your nutritionist/dietician's recommendation. There is a big advantage to losing slowly.....not as much saggy skin! Good luck!

Milk Duds got the better of me!

Thanks all! Sometimes I just need someone to knock some sense back into my head.
  22. It took me 6 months to go through Kaiser's program to get approved.

    tough decision

Hi, I too am 49 and am getting sleeved on Feb 21st. As I've been told by my nutritionist and the doctor (and many here on this site), the sleeve is just a tool and it's what you make of it. If you eat healthily and control your portions it will work. I too have a fear that I will not be able to watch my eating, but I think it's a better choice than the band or the roux en y bypass. Many problems with the band and as said before, it's not being recommended as highly any longer and the bypass, you can have malabsorption problems. I've read on here of people who have had the sleeve for a couple of years and have able to maintain their weight. I'm just praying that I will be one of those people that can maintain the weight loss and keep up with exercising. Good luck to you and I'm sure you'll make the best decision for yourself.
