  1. Let's see I have a 7 day pre-op diet before surgery on Thursday. So last Thursday (Valentine's Day), I did liquid diet until evening meal and had to have some Valentine candy. Friday, I did well til evening and had 3 pieces of chocolate. Saturday, I did well til evening and ate a large handful of cashew. Today, Sunday, I have been able to stick to my liquid diet! Just 3 more days of this....I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.....I'm working on convincing myself lol . Anybody else start out cheating on pre-op to finish strong?
  2. Thanks Angelpooh. I really want this surgery...so I'm going to do my best to do well so I can make sure I get my surgery.
  3. My surgery is Thursday and I just couldn't wait to get a medical id bracelet. I went online to order a stainless steel one since my doctor said it was good to have one for the first 6 months, but not necessary. Well, I like to play it safe and decided to get one to wear for 6 months. Then I read on this site, that someone's spouse got her a platinum bracelet with the date and weight of her surgery as a reminder to help maintain weight loss. I like the idea so much, that I looked for a sterling silver id bracelet to engrave my surgery date and weight on it. I would love to get platinum or gold, but I'll just have to settle for silver. Still I'm excited and have ordered a silver bracelet. I can't wait til after surgery so I can wear my bracelets...that's if they come in time....lol...I ordered them from ebay. Anyone find themselves ordering bracelets prior to surgery?

    New Member - Annie :)

Hi Annie! I had to do a 6 month program also. At first the time seem to go by slowly, but before I knew it, I was making a surgery date. This Thursday for me.

My VSG in Mexico (long post)

Great story! Glad to hear you had a successful surgery and a great hospital. I hope that I come through mine as smoothly as you did yours. Luckily my insurance covers my surgery. I hope Virginia Hospital Center provides me with a similar experience as yours did for you.

Welcome Caaattt! There's even a forum here about people who have had revision from the lap band so I'm sure you'll get a lot of useful information. Hope you get your May date!

How long were you off work?

Since I sit at a desk all day, my doctor said I probably could start working some in about 3 -4 days. I'm just not allowed to drive. With a sales job,do you have to lug equipment/products around? My doctor says no lifting of more than 10 pounds. Maybe you can work part-time to begin with then build up to full-time. I have decided to take off 3 weeks of work since I will then be having hand surgery and be out for another 2 weeks. Work prefers I just stay out for 5 weeks so that I heal properly from my surgeries...especially since I have enough sick leave time to cover the 5 weeks.

husband is getting on my DAM nerves!

LOL....Are you sure he wasn't making them for you? Or at least I hope he was smart enough to say he was making it for you
  10. congrats on the weight loss! I'm kind of weird. since I've been yo-yoing with my weight and have been at the same job for 23 years, I kind of wish people didn't comment because I always feel bad that I would eventually gain the weight back. I hope this time, I will have a tool that really works to help me maintain my weight once I reach goal.

    Acrylic nails

I believe they can check circulation when they push down on your nail.

    Tomorrow is pre op:)

Hi, I'm suppose to start mine today, but I kinda cheated some. It's hard with it being Valentine's day and my anniversary. So I've done 2 meals of liquid diet and 1 regular meal. Tomorrow I will definitely do full liquids. Good luck with your liquid diet!

    Yogurt?

My surgeon's office game me a Diet progression sheet and it says I can have low-fat/low-sugar yogurt the second day after surgery. I have the day after surgery as clear liquid then I go to full liquid for 2 weeks which include yogurt

    Sleeve like a newborn baby!

    No burping you either!
  22. Hi...sorry to hear your having a hard time, but 70 pounds is great! I totally understand how you're feeling about food. It is one of my worries that I will slip. This is why I hope a smaller stomach will help stop me from binging as I do now. Try reaching for something healthy instead. I know it's hard. Have you added any exercise in your daily routine? If not try that. I wear my pedometer everyday and do my best to get in 10,000 steps a day. Many times I get in over 12,000. There are days, like this past week where I was working 10-13 hour days that I was not able to get the steps in, but I'm back to it now. Good luck!

    TMI for sure

Each person is different, but I found drinking 6 glasses of crystal light in the morning helped me. yeah, it's a lot of crystal light, but I was working on getting in my 8 glasses of water each day. I have a cup that holds 3 cups. So I would fill it up twice with crystal light than once with water. It made me regular in the morning. I lucked into something that worked for me. Maybe it would work for you.

    6 month supervised diet

Hi, I had to lose 7 pounds but was able to lose 14 about 2 months ago and hadn't lost anymore. As long as you meet their requirement you'll be fine. I start my liquid pre op diet in 2 days for a week and hope to lose some more. the 6 months will fly and creep by. Since it is a serious surgery, I think the 6 months was good for me. It allowed me timeto really let it sink in on what I was doing that I have no regrets and am ready for it.
