I made sure I was getting my fluids in and the first day home I had a bm and another this morning. So make sure you get the liquids in to keep things flowing.

    So Hurtful

I know it's hard when words like that come from family, but try to let it just roll of your back and think about how much healthier you're going to be. Good luck with your family.
  4. Yep, I started the protein drinks when I got home and I'm to start the vitamins when I start the puree stage at week 3. Double check with your doctor or nutritionist.

My turn, My turn, to say....

I am feeling pretty good. Once the anesthesia wore off and the pain med that I had when I first came out of surgery wore off. I started walking around at the hospital around 8 (my surgery was at 12:30) I did have some gas but not much. I'm very thankful that I am able to get my fluids in my sipping very little at a time. It takes me 4-5 sips to finish 1 ounce of Fluid. But I feel it getting better. I am so glad I did this for me!
  6. How about eating some SF popsicle? You could crunch on the ice and hopefully fool your brain that your getting solids

    Updated Photos 8 Months Post-Op

Wow! You are doing a great job!
  8. Hi Oklafarmgal, I was sleeved on thursday also. I felt really tired the first day after surgery. I think it has a lot to do with the anesthesia and the pain meds. When I first got home, I just sip some water and went to sleep. Each time I woke up, I took a sip. Second day I was able to stay up the whole day and get my liquids in. I walk around the house some. Today I feel even better. Each day gets better and better. Oh, my nutritionist had me buy some vitamin B12. that may help give you some energy back. Remember to get in your protein and fluids to help with the weakness. I hope you get our energy back soon. Let's rock our sleeves to our goal weight!
  9. wow! Fantastic! As soon as my stitches heal up enough that I don't feel it, I will go back to my power walking, but will try to do it twice a day to take advantage of the honeymoon phase. I'm just glad the weather is getting nicer here.

    Being Sleeved tomorrow and scared!

It's natural to be scared of the unknown. Just take it one day at a time. I was not scared or nervous at all. It was after i woke up from the anesthesia that I thought, what have I done to myself. I only felt this way because of the pain I felt with one of my stitches and the grogginess in my head. Once that was cleared up, I was able to think better and that this will work. I am able to get in at least 6 cups of liquid each day. I just keep sippiing little bits at a time and before you know it, you'll have all your fluids in. There's no pain when I sip my fluids so my stomach is feeling ok. Only pain from one incision, but I've learned how to move with it to cause the least bit of discomfort. It'll be all worth it. Think about the great gift you are giving yourself for a healthier you! Good luck with your surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Remember positive thinking!

    Sick of the attention

Eventually, it'll stop. It's great that people are recognizing your accomplishment. It's not easy, but will get better. I too do not like attention about my weight only because people at the office have seen me yo-yo and I feel embarrassed when I gain all the weight back again

    My Stupid Pedometer

So surgery was on the 21st. I've been making sure I walk around the house each day. This morning, I would take a sip of my protein drink then walk around the house to come back for another sip and my pedometer didn't registered all the steps. I use it as my motivation to work back up to 10k steps per day, but the stupid thing isn't counting my steps since I am moving too slow. I can't wait til the one stitch that bothers me, heals up completely. Otherwise I am feeling ok.

    My surgery experience

Thanks! I hope yours go as smooth!
  16. Mentally I was prepared for this surgery and was not nervous at all. I was wheeled back to the operating room at 12:30 and my husband said I was in my private room by 2. It's nice that it is only private rooms. Anyway, my first thought I had when I woke up wad "What did I do to myself? I am not going to have any plastic surgery." I was in some pain. the lower right side of my stomach's incision was the one that gave me pain. By 8pm, I had to go to the bathroom and took a short walk out to the nurses station. I had a dose of pain med around then. I found I couldn't keep myself away. So I just kept dozing off. the hubby left around 9:30 and I just slept on until 1am. I then got up to go to the bathroom and walked 4 laps around the floor then back to bed. My mouth was really dry, but I couldn't have anything yet until my upper gi to make sure there's no leaks. That came at 12 noon and boy does that stuff taste nasty! It took a few minutes and the doctor showed my my stomach and how he saw not leaks. I got my liquid tray around 1:30. I saw the oragne SF popsicle and decided I just had to have it. 2 bites later,I started salivating and had to spit saliva out then I just sip Water occasionally.By the time 2:45 rolled around, the doctor was ready to discharge me. I was kind of surprised that they let me walk out of there rather than wheel chairing me.I got home and went right to bed...took little sips of water through out the night when I woke up. I got tired of sitting upright in bed so hubby helped me back downstairs to the recliner couch. I guess the movement made me nauseous and I vomited what looked like dry blood. Now on day three,I've had my first 11oz of Protein Drink and it all stayed down. I walk around the house, come back to the table, took a sip and did it again until 1 hour 45 minutes later, I got all my Protein drink down. I've got a glass a water here and am sipping it as I type.I know one of the concerns is having a bowel movement and I was able to go after my shake. So besides some tolerable pain, I'm on my way to mending.Ho Hope everyone else had a rather smooth recovery. Oh by the way, I changed my display name from "JustSleeveit" to "ISleevedIt"

    Waiting to go into OR

It's 1 am and I'm feeling ok. Got pain meds around 8 but now it's tolerable. I've gotten up and taken a walk around the hallway. Funny the first bought I had when I first woke up was what did I do to myself?

    Sleeve Family Vaca

Wish I can go...but with 2 kids in college this year, I don't see it happening for me...unless it's somewhere on the east coast....like VA
  22. My surgery is tomorrow...yaayyyyy! Yesterday, I found myself thinking of what I needed to get done prior. I was crocheting a blanket for my daughter to take to college when she starts this August. I found I had to finish it prior to surgery. Now today, I'm thinking of writing a letters to my husband, son, and daughter in case something happens in surgery. Did anyone else feel like this and actually do it?
  23. I've been reading a lot here and I see the basic post-op diet progression is the same: liquid, full liquid, puree, soft foods, then all foods. But why does the length of time vary so much? My post-op diet only includes 1 day of clear liquid (day right after surgery) and it makes me wonder if I'm on clear liquids long enough. What do you all think about the variations?
  24. ISleevedIt

    Fruits

According to the diet progression that my dietitian gave me soft fruit can be started after the puree stage
