Hi, I had a six month process also. At times it felt like it was taking forever, but when I got my surgery date, it felt like the time flew by. I actually found the 6 months to be very helpful. It gave me plenty of time to educate myself further. I found myself on this site almost everyday. By the time my surgery came around, I was very comfortable with it and did not have much anxiety. The day before I did think about my mortality and wondered if I should write a letter to each of my kids and to my husband. Thankfully I didn't need to.

Hi, you're off to a great start! Just keep in mind that if you do "screw up", it's okay, just pick yourself up and get right back on the wagon. I use to say, oh well I screwed up so I might as well wait til tomorrow to start again. Don't do that....that's just sabotaging yourself. Just remind yourself you're human and will make mistakes from time to time, but you learn from them. I hope you have a successful journey! You're surgery date will be here before you know it.

2.5 years post just had a baby 7months ago & gaining weight
ISleevedIt replied to Strwberriekissesrbetter's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats on the baby! Maybe you can find a way to deal with the stress. I know exercising is good. Maybe taking a walk after you feed the baby or when the baby is sleeping walk around the house. Just think, you wee able to do this before and I'm sure you can do it again. We're all looking to improve our health and the sleeve is a great tool to have. Try going back to the basics when you first got sleeve. Here's a link to the 5 day pouch test that could help get you on the right track again. I've read about it and heard of others recommending it that I book marked it for myself. Good luck with your sleeve and enjoy that baby of yours....they don't stay little for long. It seems like with a blink of an eye my kids are going off to college. I can't believe I'll be an empty nester soon. http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/days1_2.html -
aweful pain above belly button
ISleevedIt replied to gastrix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would check with your doctor just to be sure. I felt pain on the lower right incision where I see a bruise. I'm guessing that's where they pulled the extra stomach out. Try holding a pillow firmly against your body before sneezing or coughing. If it's just muscle soreness, it definitely gets better each day. I am one week post op now and can still feel it a bit. Hope everything will be okay for you. -

Why is protein so important NOW? Can anyone explain?
ISleevedIt replied to sirensiren's topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm post-op and am told to get in 60-80 grams of protein. Protein helps to maintain your muscle mass. You want to lose fat, not muscle. I think protein has always been important. Also with protein, it takes longer for your stomach to digest it, helping to keep you feeling full longer. Which means less food with low/no nutritional value. -
Hey, how about frozened/canned green leafy vegetables? It doesn't have to be a salad.

I don't recommend this but it works for me...

QUICK BIRThDAY QUESTION
ISleevedIt replied to KrystalP's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My understanding is foods with low/none nutritional value and can easier be digested by your stomach, leaving it empty again...Like white bread. Whereas a piece of chicken will take your stomach longer to digest, keeping you feeling full longer and provides you with the Protein you need. -
Post Op day 6, Protein, Water, Stomach pains?
ISleevedIt replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm 5 days post-op and am able to get all my Protein (60-80 grams)per day. When I first wake up, I start on my Protein shake. I take a tiny sip and then I walk around the house (approx. 70-75 steps) then I take another little sip and walk around again. At first it took me an hour and a half to get the shake down, but this morning it took an hour. Then I keep sipping Water until it's time for the text shake/broth. If the shakes are too thick, try watering it down or try doing a broth. I bought the unjury chicken broth and it tastes great and goes down a little easier. Good luck with getting in your Proteins. You need them so you don't lose muscle mass. -
Today Is My New Day
ISleevedIt replied to Bree Lynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery! -
Hi, I'm 5 days post-op. Glad to see you made it to the losers bench. I continuous sip all day. When I take my protein shake I walk around the house a time or two then take another little sip, whether mentally or physically, I just find that it helps and I get in some walking. So it takes me about an hour to drink the shake. Just keep taking tiny sips, it'll get better.

Eating more with TOM at 4month out.
ISleevedIt replied to NisaletOAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have a chocolate Protein Drink or you can have a SF chocolate pudding or a SF fudgsicle (spelling?) I had a hysterectomy years ago (still have ovaries) so don't quite know what that's like anymore -
It'll be here before you know it! Good luck!
-
yayyy Carroll! It's one decision you won't regret! When I first woke up from my surgery, I have to admit, I did have a minute of doubt. The first thought to cross my mind was "What did I do to myself?" I know it was the groggy head feeling and the pain talk. Because the next time I woke I was ok and got a dose of pain med. It took from 2pm to 1am for the fogginess to lift from my head. Then it's been all good. so far it's going smoothly. I'm able to get in my 60-80 grams of Protein and at least 6 cups of liquids...definitely 8 counting the protein shakes/broth. Good luck with your surgery. It'll be here before you know it.

Hmmmmm.....is it high in protein?
