6 month weight management to be approved...how does this work?
ISleevedIt replied to jordan1079's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Kaiser insurance and had a 6 month program to go through. 2 group classes and 4 visits with the nutritionist. After that, the nutritionist submitted my paperwork to the committee for final approval. My understanding is that if you got approved in the program, then you just need to follow their guidelines for the 6 months. Oh, I did have to lose some weight also. It's a percentage of your weight. Good luck with the process. -
Anyone hungry 8 days out?
ISleevedIt replied to compass75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nope... I haven't felt hungry yet, but I am eating 3 protein shakes/soup a day and getting in at least 8 cups of water and eating SF popcicles. -
I'm glad they found the problem and fixed it quickly. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Stef, with the sleeve how should we handle it now? When I get up, I have my Protein Drink then i go for my walk. I walk 1 -2 hours depending on if I'm doing 3 or 6 miles. I want to optimize my workout with losing weight.

well my two week checkup
ISleevedIt replied to xlovexdangerxmagickx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that's great! When I went for my first post-op at a week and a half, I had lost 5 lbs and thought that was great! I like your number better. -
I'm sorry to hear you're getting so much grief from your family. Maybe you just need to step back and stay away from them for a while. do what you feel is right for you then just let them know the final outcome. Now that I've had the surgery, I don't care what other family members think because it's a done deal!. We're all here for you!

Doing too good?
ISleevedIt replied to Unbesleevable's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still on full liquids til Thursday. I make sure I get in 60-80 grams of Protein and drink at least 8 cups of Water. Since my surgery date, 12 days ago, I've lost 5 pounds which I'm very happy about. when I start my puree stage, I plan on continuing with a Protein Drink and pureeing protein foods to make sure I get the correct amount in. Having greek yogurt or cottage cheese is good. Don't get discourage if the scale moves up some when you get yourself hydrated. It'll only be water weight. I am constantly sipping water all day long to make sure i get enough. Don't sacrifice your health to see the scale move faster. Think of slow and steady means less saggy skin. good luck with getting in all your Proteins and fluids. -
good luck and I hope you have a smooth surgery and speedy recovery

Breaking down... Not a pound lost
ISleevedIt replied to albertamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're probably just retaining fluids. just keep it up and you'll see the lost.Good luck! -
My understanding that it's ok as long as you don't rip open your incisions.

I'm almost 2 weeks post op and can eat and drink anything. I'm on full liquids since day 3. I hope I'm not hurting my sleeve, but I drink 3 Protein drinks/soup a day and am getting 8 - 10 cups of Water a day. I hope I'm not drinking too much, but i want to make sure I stay hydrated. I think the fullness comes more when we can start eating solid foods...maybe puree. I guess I'll find out in 2 days when I get to start pureed foods. Oh, yesterday when I had my post-op appt with the surgeon he said I was well hydrated and that I was doing well and can move on the puree in a few days. Like joatsaint, I feel a fullness/pressure at the base of my throat and I burp also. I think this is a sign that I'm eating too fast, but maybe it's a sign of fullness also.

NSV #2 - You Best Step Off, B-hatch!
ISleevedIt commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
You're doing great! Just keep it up. You can break up your walking. You don't have to do it all at once. It'll be easier on your feet and hips. Make sure you have the correct shoes and socks. The socks are very important. I bought a nice thick pair for more cushioning but it ended up being too large that I got blisters on the ball of my feet. it took me weeks to figure out that it was my new socks. I've gone back to the older type I had that isn't quite as cushiony, but I'm able to walk 6 miles at a time without any foot problems. I started walking when I started this sleeve journey back in August. I slowly built up to 10k a day. The second day after surgery, I managed to get in 6k steps, then the third day, I got in over 10k. It definitely helps if you started walking prior to surgery. While I'm still home from work, I've been walking between 15k and 20k a day. I really want to get this weight off of me. -

greek yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese...I don't have any specific breakfast food. I just eat what I feel like it. Like this morning I had my protein chicken broth for breakfast. -

Vomiting after Vitamins
ISleevedIt replied to Groovinchikin's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hi, have you tried taking it with food? I'm still on full liquids and my doctor told me now to start my vitamins until I hit the puree stage since it can cause nausea. Sounds like trying another brand is a good idea. good luck with getting your vitamins in. -
good for you that you still walked! I'm ready for spring too. We're getting snow tomorrow. come on it's March. I'm ready for spring! I wanted the snow earlier.

Unjury Unflavored
ISleevedIt replied to caramelbaby10181's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It's moot a sweet taste. I put it in soups. For 8 oz i use half scoop so that I don't taste it at all. I mix it and let it sit a bit so I don't smell it. -
3 boxes of thin mints and 2 boxes of samoas have made there way in my house. The hubby had ordered them from a neighbor. I so badly wanted to rip into a box and have a cookie only because they are thin mints! I stared at the cookies and decided my cream of shrimp soup was going to have to do for dinner. But the SF popscicle sure did taste good!

Frozen Yogurt Six days out?
ISleevedIt replied to kimikat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on full liquids also and my "cheat" sheet that was given to me from the dietician says low-fat/low-sugar yogurt and fat-free/sugar-free pudding. So If I was in our shoes, I would have some As long as it's low-fat/low-sugar. -
3rd day of my 5 day liquid pre - op
ISleevedIt replied to twitch4thebitch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sorry you're feeling poorly. I got headaches when I first started, but they went away after 3 days. It's probably the caffeine leaving your system. Are you drinking any Protein drinks? Hopefully that could help with the nausea. Surgery is only 3 days away...hang in there!
