    Extremely Nervous

I am almost one month out and am very happy that I did it. I've been yo-yoing with my weight and am just tired of it. My surgery went smoothly and so did my recovery. Don't get me wrong, I did have little hiccups here and there. I did vomit the second day at night when I was home, but boy did that feel good afterwards. My stomach cleaned itself out of all the dried blood from the surgery. I had no gas pains and only had one dose of pain med when I first woke up from surgery. From day 3 on, I have been able to get in all my Proteins and fluids. Sometimes, I do feel some tightness at the base of my throat when I've eaten or drank too fast, but I'm getting better with it. And am still learning when my tummy is full and to stop before I take one bite too many (which may cause me to vomit). I am walking every day and getting in at least 10,000 steps a day. Yes, it is a newer procedure by itself, but it has been done for a very long time as the first step towards another surgery. They just found out recently that the sleeve by itself is effective. Can't remember all the specifics. I think this is one decision you won't regret!

    What's for dinner tonight?

in my 4th week and another day, I'm "officially" to solid foods. I had ground turkey with taco seasoning and refried beans cooked together, then I added a little sharp cheddar cheese and some fat free plain greek yogurt. I was able to eat a half cup...well a little more with the big spoonful of yogurt. Delicious recipe I found here. I'm not a fan of ground turkey, but I sure couldn't taste the meat as turkey.

    Pain drinking water :(

try taking smaller sips...focus on getting the liquid in. In the beginning that's all I did. I would spend an hour to an hour and a half to drink one protein drink....I only walked until I got the drink in before doing something else. It's easy to forget to drink.

    Foot pain

I think if it was a fracture it would be in pain all the time. does it ease up after you move around some?

    It's Over

yayyyyy! Now walk and sip and walk and sip......when the doctor clears you for drinking
  8. Yep, I've had it happen a couple of times....you'd think I'd learn, but sometimes the food goes down too easy that I end up eating one bite too much. I'll eventually get this eating thing down...
  9. remember to get in at least 8 cups of fluids. I think it will help with the headaches. I'm in VA and have Kaiser insurance. The surgeon is affiliated with Kaiser but not a Kaiser doctor. I only had one week od high protein and clear liquid diet....good luck with yours

    Spouse dought!

I was very fortunate that my hubby was supportive....just not about going to mexico for it...luckily my insurance covers it. I've had a smooth recovery. He knows I want plastic surgery afterwards because I have an apron and the girls are running south. I just told him the sleeve was part one and plastics is part two....he just laughed

    "Pigging out" today...

make sure your getting more than enough fluids and change up your exercise routine or add exercise if not doing any. I walk at least 5 miles a day and occasionally I do less or more so my body doesn't get use to a routine...good luck

    Foot pain

I've gotten it occasionally but not to the point where I can't walk. I just start out slowly and let the foot warm up then I no longer feel it. maybe a hot foot soak would be good for it. good luck with it

Seeing the #s change, but not feeling it?

Me thinks you were wearing the wrong size clothes prior to surgery and that's why you haven't gone down a size yet But your right...I don't feel lighter, but know I am. I am doing okay...working my way into soft foods....had some fish today and took a bite too many. Still trying to learn what that full feeling is like.
  19. also try making sure you get your 8 cups of fluids a day.
