    IM Approved!

Congrats! Sounds like you'll get a date next Friday! Best wishes to you!
  2. I weigh everyday, but decided that I will only record on a monthly basis. I use it as a guideline to let me know if I should try to up my calories/fluids or increase/decrease my walking to try and prevent a stall.

Yay you! What's the reward for meeting your goal? I like to read what people reward themselves with. It gives me ideas

    Hi All

Hi...I think the sleeve is a good choice...many on here have had problems with the band and have had it revised to the sleeve....good luck with your journey.

    Cigars

I believe smoking hinders healing and your stomach is still healing I say lay off the cigars for 6 months or forever

    Adolescence and Obesity

I believe that's head hunger. Just make sure you get in your proteins and your fluids each day. I'm still trying to listen to my body....since I'm not sure when I'm full either, I measure my food.
  12. Thanks guys! You gave me a good laugh which I haven't had in a couple of days....this is making me feel better....I guess I just needed some attention.

    ID bracelets

I asked my surgeon about it and he said maybe wear one for the first 6 months and that's it. I got the regular steel medical id bracelet, but then decided that it was too obvious and didn't want to wear it. I did get an id bracelet with "VSG", my surgery date, and my starting weight as a reminder to myself.
  14. Remember the more you have to lose, the easier it comes off in the beginning. Just think of less saggy skin when weight loss comes off slowly.
  15. Ashbhey, I was told that some can get depression after surgery....maybe you should talk to a counselor or your doctor to help you through this. Hang in there! Hopefully this'll blow over and you'll start enjoying your sleeve! if you don't already exercise, maybe doing some will get the endorphins going and help make you feel better. Exercise is suppose to help with depression. I've been walking everyday and I know it's helped me a great deal that I cut my antidepressant med in half.

    No More Advil.....EVER!

My surgeon said it was ok to take nsaids occasionally....as long as it's not on a regular basis since it can irritate the stomach

    Size of the Sleeve

Hmmm...if I remember the anatomy of the stomach correctly, the top portion that was left the size of an egg is the stretchy part of the stomach (fundus). With the sleeve, the fundus is removed so there is no stretchy part. If there is no stretching and too much food is eaten, then the feeling of discomfort occurs. With the sleeve approximately 85% of the stomach is removed, leaving 15% shaped like a banana. The actual diameter is based on the bougie size and how the surgeon performed the surgery. Some make it a tight fit according to the bougie, some oversew it which makes it smaller than the bougie size, and some even staple along the bougie loosely making the sleeve larger than the bougie size. Hopefully this helps....and if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will chime in.

Kick Ass April - Fitness Challenge! Who's In?

Can you please explain each exercise? I believe I know what the squats and wall-sits are, but what the heck are burpees?

    Vertigo

Are you post surgery? Are you making sure you get all your fluids and proteins in?
  21. Did you take your Vitamins on an empty stomach because that could cause nausea making you throw up? I've advance to solid foods and I still use my baby spoon. I eat no more than half a spoon at a time now and I make sure I chew he food to death or I'll feel discomfort. I remember throwing up with greek yogurt because I was thinking and ate too big a spoonful. I know what you mean about not feeling hungry, but you need to get your Proteins and fluids in. You'll get the hang of this eating thing. Good luck!
