One month out I was around 600-800 calories, at week 6 my nut pushed me up to 1000. Too few could also be problematic. Are you on pureed foods are soft at this point? If you focus on lean Protein, first, then vegetables, then starch ( which I rarely ever get in) you should be good. Try for a minimum of 68 oz of Water a day also. I think at a month out I managed an ounce or two before getting full. I try and track everything on MyFitnessPal and that keeps me accountable for my calories throughout the day. If that doesn't' help or you want more info I can send you the instructions my nut gave me for the food stages.

Hi, New And Confused
JerseyGirl68 replied to nancy264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Nancy, Getting in the right frame of mind leading up to surgery can be hard. Harder still to change the habits that have followed us for years and led to our obesity. Start fresh. There is nothing you can do about past behavior, but you can change what you do next. Plan out your meals and Snacks for the day and don't deviate. Try logging ALL your food and liquids (myfitnesspal), it helps with accountability. Portion control was a huge obstacle for me, but one that I was able to tackle before surgery and those new habits are helping me on my way. You can do this, take it one day at a time and do your best to stay the course. Its a marathon, not a sprint so don't let a bad day ruin your mindset. You know what you need to do, commit to it. Are you seeing a nutritionist? Everyone's supplement needs are different, and you should find out from your doctor what you need to do. Good luck, I'm glad you posted, we are here to support you throughout. You're not alone in this. -
Congratulations on your surgery. it is not uncommon for people to hit stalls around week three (and several times throughout your losing stages). Your body is adjusting and still healing. Stick to the plan your doctor laid out for you and the numbers should start to move again. When is your next followup? Borrowed this link from Butterthebean's signature http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpUK1tKth8E Good read about stalls.

Ugh. Second Day Of Protein Shakes
JerseyGirl68 replied to Idlewood4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, the shakes are what they are. I found if I tried to keep them interesting by adding flavored sugar-free syrups it helped. Torani makes a whole like of sugar free syrups that we can add to our shakes. My favorite is the Peppermint. Hot or cold, I love it in the winter. Also try adding PB2 , excellent Peanut Butter flavor. Try theworldaccordingtoeggface.com for shake ideas. Also search these boards, people can get very creative. It's not forever and you'll be starting 2014 newly sleeved and fabulous!! Good luck! -
I've been bad with logging in. Got in an average of 3 miles a day last week. Total 139.20

Sounds like you're doing everything right with followup and being aware of what's going on with you. Hopefully your doctor can figure something out. Good luck!!

Hi there, lots of folks have. Check out this sub forum, http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/237899-over-400lbs-success-storied/ Best of luck!

I pureed chili (not spicy), Egg salad, chicken salad and had it with just a tiny bit of cranberry sauce (one of my favorites). A meat ball pureed isn't too bad either. I used a little hand held blender. Good luck!!

Without getting too personal, how was it before surgery? Do you get blood work done regularly? I read about different Vitamin deficiencies leading to lower sex drive.

So glad it is going smoothly. Good luck with the BP!!

North Jersey here, so Can't speak about your Doctor. Good luck moving forward!!!

My highest weight was 355, that was when I decided to move forward with surgery June of 2012. I lost about 60 lbs pre-op and was just under 300 on surgery day. Today I'm at 204 and never happier. Losing slow now, but I'll take it gladly! Good luck !

Best of luck for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery!!

Almost 3 Months With Pics And My Head Not Cut Off
JerseyGirl68 replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beautiful!! -
I'm going to jump in and agree with Rox... You know what you're doing and know what you need to do. Even though they might not have offered the information, can you call your NUT and get some direction to what they expect you to be having? Don't wait for them to call, and try not to just wait for the weight to drop. Take charge, it will be worth it. I'm at 11 months out and hover around 1000 calories a day. 80+ grams of Protein and usually upwards of 90oz of Water. Go back to basics. Log everything and don't give up. I love what Rox wrote and agree if nothing changes, NOTHING changes. This is a process and you have to commit to the changes necessary. You can do this. Take it day at at time, Mix up your workouts and get your heart rate up when you can. Posting was great, draw strength and encouragement from everyone here. Do everything you can to ensure your success.. If you don't, who else will?? YOU GOT THIS!! Keep us posted.

Happy Monday!! Tuesday thru Sunday last week... got in 41.5 miles walking/riding/elliptical. total for the month 121.2

It is a valid question, and I'm sure you will get a wide spectrum of answers and opinions. I think if you asked me a year ago before i was sleeved, my first instinct would be that you "only" need to lose 75lbs and this is a drastic step to make. My thoughts on this have greatly changed. I wish I had gotten sleeved earlier. I put on/took off/ put on that same 75lbs many, many times. Each time was harder than the last to take off and it never lasted. I am sure I did long term harm to my body by this yo yo dieting. And it was NEVER sustainable for me. That being said, it is a choice between you and your doctor. It is only a tool, and the commitment to it doesn't change no matter how much we have to lose. I think its great you are asking these questions, I wish you great luck in whatever you choose!! None of us walk in the other's shoes. You need to do what is best for you and your health going forward. Ugh.. I'm Sorry.. I did not realize this was in the Man's Room when I responded.

Congratulations on your approval! I had this happen with my approval also. My coordinator explained that they just needed to put a place holder date on the paperwork and that the approval was valid for 6 months. Good luck!!

I try and stay in a range of calories 900-1100 daily, and meet my protein and water. I don't weigh my food anymore, but I do portion meals in 4 or 5oz. containers. That is typically what I can hold at a given time, though it does depend on what I'm having.
-
Congratulations!! I know that feeling! Your're doing so well!
-
Do you track? I find what keeps me both on track and motivated is keeping an accurate accounting of what I'm eating. I use My Fitness Pal. Planning out meals always helps me also. I try and cook on the weekends and portion items for use later in the week. Check out the Veterans forum. You may not be able to post, but you should be able to get alot of info from folks as far along as you. Best of luck.

what kind of tests will they do?
JerseyGirl68 replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it will depend on what you've had done leading up to surgery. An EKG just has to be within the last 6 months (in my case). My pre-op testing only consisted of bloodwork/vitals. The day of surgery they did a rapid pregnancy test. That was it. Good luck!!
