    Boy did I mess up!

Listen, you can beat yourself up, but only for a minute or two. You can't change it, but you know how it made you feel and you know the physical ramifications (blood sugar). I keep reminding myself that (fingers crossed) this is the last diet I will ever be on. When I've lost what I need to, I should be able to have a little of something and it not ruin anything or send me on a downward spiral. That was the biggest reason I had for choosing the sleeve. You slipped up. I'm sure most of us will. It's what we do next that is important. Walk a little extra today, make a healthy treat that everyone can share instead of you being left out. I don't envy you having to be surrounded by extra temptation. Being a lover of crap carbs myself, I feel your pain. Take it day by day and don't deny yourself, just have a better choice for you available. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. A slip is not a failure, it's just a slip.

    What did you buy?

My first two days I used 1oz medicine cups alot. I measured my water and my shake/broth to make sure I didn't take in too much. I also purchased small size spoons and forks to help with portions. Gas X strips and Vitamin water zero were a big help too. I was off pain meds the day after I came home. Tylenol worked perfectly well.

Need pre op liquid diet advice..

I found I enjoyed the Pure Protein brand powder. The Chocolate didn't taste chalky to me at all. I added PB2 powder for added protein and peanut butter flavor. You can find the Protein powder at Walmart, my Stop and shop also carried it. PB2 you can find at GNC. Good Luck!

    Being discharged today!

Congratulations! and good luck at home! @ TraciJ - Good luck tomorrow!!
  7. Only you (and maybe your doctor) can answer that. Your reasons are yours. Just as you shouldn't measure your loss against someone else's you shouldn't worry about not having to lose as much as some. I really do wish that when I was "Only" a BMI of 37 that I sought to have the surgery. Maybe you just came to the party a little earlier than others. :-) Timing is everything! As you decide how to proceed, I'm sure you'll be thoughtful in your rationale. Good luck!!

    Help

Congratulations! I have found the unjury chicken Soup (www.Unjury.com) to be a great way to get in 21 grams of protein in 8oz. For me it goes down really easy and tastes great. Good luck
  10. Congratulations on your surgery! Gas was my only issue when I was sleeved a week ago today. The more I walked the better it got. If you can't walk yet, try rolling your shoulders back one at a time at least to get some movement going to break it up. Best of luck to you!!! Feel better.
  11. BEAUTIFUL!! Congratulations on your anniversary and your success!!

    Feeling a little glum.....

First off, HUGE Congrats for your amazing start. I know alot of my head hunger is triggered by emotions. The tragedy in CT is overwhelming, and the place we used to go to bury those feelings isn't an option for us right now. It is a loss to an extent, and something we all have to learn to work through the best we can. We are also smack in the middle of a very big "eating" season. Cakes, Cookies, candies everywhere we turn. I couldn't turn on the TV this weekend without seeing a commercial for some holiday candy or treat. The very best thing you can do is acknowledge it. (Which you have) This is all such a learning process for all of us, and I'm so happy that folks have the courage to admit when it gets a little trickier. Why not have a sugar free ice pop or SF pudding? Have your little snack if it will help you through, just have a better one than we might have picked before. Good luck, You're doing AMAZING!!

    anyone with bcbs nj?

I have BCBS NJ also. I was sleeved last Tuesday. For my plan (Direct Access) I was required to have a Psych consult, a Nutritional Consult, a 2 year weight history, and a letter from me stating what I have tried to do to lose weight and my history. I was approved within a week . Good luck!
  15. So excited for you!! I'm one week out and feeling great, I wish the exact same for you!! Good luck.

    UnJury question

The Unjury changes consistency over 140 degrees. It gets really clumpy. I found that my hottest water out of the tap is about 130ish degrees. At that temp its hot enough for soup/hot chocolate but not hot enough to make it clump.
  20. I'm right there with you. I had surgery on Tuesday, and up until yesterday every time I swallowed I felt it was pushing to get through, not painful, but a little scary that it would not end. I sipped some peppermint tea and sat with a heating pad for a little yesterday, and I think It helped. I woke up this morning with hardly any discomfort at all. Are you on anything for gas? I know that was a big issue for me the first few days also. Good luck, you can do this.
  21. Beautiful photo! Congratulations!

    Im an idot.

The thing I used the most actually was a retractable back scratcher. The pain meds they gave made me a bit itchy and was sooo happy for it. I was also happy for my phone, ipad and stretchie pants. I really didn't need much else. Best of luck!!!
