    I need meal ideas! HELP!

Check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and emilybites.com Both sites have tons of soft stage recipes that are very good and fit in our plan. Baked or broiled fish, tuna, chicken salad, chili, deli turkey/cheese, crab cakes (no breadcrumbs), meatballs (turkey or 97% lean), meatloaf... Good luck!!

    Gained weight

YUP, it happened to me too (a few times in the last few months). Your body is adjusting, stay the course and follow what your NUT laid out and it will level out.

    scared but ready

    Best of luck to you!!
  4. Damn, you hit the mother load of "things I hope don't happen before surgery" Hopefully this is the very worst of it for you. I think we all can relate to worrying about head hunger and mourning food. You are ready for this! You did everything you need to get to this point and you can get through the rest. You'll enjoy certain foods again, its not goodbye forever. You'll replace the old habits for new, better ones. Best of luck to you tomorrow and for a smooth recovery!!

    Weight loss for 300+ sleevers!

Right before my first surgical consult I was 355, in June, 2012. By surgery (12/11) I was down to 296 and as of this morning I was 263. Initially in my mind I was losing slow after surgery and comparing myself to others. Clearer minds, some helpful words from some vets here and my doctor's telling me to relax an enjoy it. I'm confident I'm doing well. I've been walking and riding a recumbent bike, I got cleared to up my exercise and incorporate weights, and plan to add those in. Good luck!!

    Soft food ideas?

Tuna Salad, chili, crab cakes (I omitted the bread crumbs) , Turkey or Chicken salad. I would have some deli turkey (3oz.) and melt a little cheese on top to mix it up. Scrambled eggs, Fat Free Greek Yogurt, baked or broiled salmon or tilapia. Just to name a few. :-) Good luck!!

    jersey city

I'm originally from JC also. There was a big issue a few years back with a ton of falsified birth certificates over the course of many years that were issued by the county. A few years ago I also had to obtain a new one from the state.
  8. LOL I do, but I'm happy that I can still enjoy the things I always loved, I'm just chosing just healthier versions. I love that I feel satisfied after 4oz. and that my taste buds haven't changed (yet?) I'm not hungry, and I find I'm taking more time with what I have and really enjoying it. Are you hungry? or just loving what you're having??

    2 days post op

The pain near your diaphram may be gas from surgery. That is where mine was too, and uncomfortable. The best way to get rid of it is walking. Try sitting with a heating pad, and maybe warm liquids (broth, herbal tea) might go down easier than water.

    100 Pounds

Wow!! So happy for you! Congratulations!!
  15. I was graciously reminded by some vets here ( when I had my day of obsessing over the scale) that even though I may not see the scale moving, I am losing inches. Measure yourself once a week or so and keep a chart. You will see a difference even if the numbers aren't moving. Then trust that the numbers will move. Follow your plan, get support when you need and visit your sleeve-mates here as mush as you like to vent, for support and reminders that you are doing great and will succeed! Keeping you and your husband in my prayers for safe passage on both your journeys.

    5 days

I moved things so they would be easy to reach, kept my chargers close by and loose clothing at the ready. I will say, i purchased a little back scratcher that I found invaluable! :-) Best of luck to you.

when were your follow up visits

I had my first, 2 weeks after surgery. The second at 6 weeks. The next one is scheduled for 3 months and 6 months. then once a year. Though I am not sure I need to see the surgeon after the 6 month mark, might just be my nutritionist.
  18. I was given heprin in the hospital before and after surgery, and was not given anything to take at home. Walking helps prevent blood clots too, so it's another good reason to move as much as possible. There is not too much rhyme or reason to when you can get blood clots, I've heard of them happening right away and even weeks out. Try not to worry too much about that. If you find yourself getting anxious about it, call the surgeons office and ask them what you should be concerned with.
  19. Congratulations on your surgery! It can be overwhelming, but I'm sure you're doing fine. Trust your instincts, but you will be sore for a few days. Your first thing should be to check your discharge instructions or paperwork your doctor gave you regarding what stage of diet you are on. Are you on Full liquids or Clear Liquids? If you are on clear, stay away from the creamy shakes for now. Stick with Water, Vitamin Water Zero, tea, broth. If you are on full liquids the shakes are fine. You may want to try to find a shake you like with a higher whey Protein content, so you're getting the most out of what you are taking in. A heating pad helped me with some discomfort as well as warm liquids. Unless your doctor told you it was ok to swallow pills whole, you should be taking chewable Vitamins. Do your best with the liquids, you don't want to get dehydrated. Good luck!!

Dr. Shrope vs. Dr. Bessler - Valley

Good luck on your upcoming surgery! I wasn't assigned a surgeon, I picked for myself. I am so happy with my choice of Dr. Schrope, I hope your experience is the same.

    Question about liquids..

I think this issue comes down to a few things. We do have to drink in sips, very small sips initially because our sleeves are swollen and can only hold so much. Some folks don't work in environments that are conducive to carrying a bottle of Water around with them. I'm lucky in that regard. I'm at a desk and can keep a bottle by my side all day. I found after a week of small sips I was able to practically drink normally, just not gulp and I haven't had issue with getting in around 80oz a day. In the days immediately after surgery, in my opinion, we have so many things to think of.. am I getting in my Protein, am I drinking enough.. . Don't drink and eat at the same time. That it can very easily become overwhelming. My surgeon and my NUT both told me that it is very hard to get in all your protein the first week or so, but do your best. Getting in your liquid is of greater importance initially. You will find what works best for you. I have found that I can drink Vitamin Water Zero and herbal teas faster than water (not unusual according to my NUT) So I mix it up and keep track.

    YAAAAAAAY!

Congrats! I guess everyone has a different plan of action to follow. Trust your doc's are doing their best for you. It is getting close! You must be sooo excited. Can't wait to hear how you are doing 3 weeks from now. Good thoughts going your way for a very fast pre-op and smooth surgery.
