    Post op day one!

Give yourself some time. The anesthesia and pain meds can make you feel nauseous Ask the nurses if they can give you something to help. It does get better. You should be able to start drinking after your results. Just sip, if the cool water gives you issues, try some decaf tea or warm broth. Good luck, keep us posted.

Does walking get easier after the sleeve?

I'll echo everyone who posted.. EVERYTHING is easier. I still have a ways to go, but I could not be happier with post sleeve life so far!

    Need some words of encouragement

Refocus. You can do this, think about the big picture and commit to the changes you have to make. Plan out your meals, even if you rely on Protein or weight watchers shakes until your appointment to lose what you need to. It will be the very last crash diet of your life. Keep reminding yourself of your ultimate goal. It is not easy, but there is an end in sight. You just have to do everything you can to get there. I do not regret one single day of preparing for the surgery. And could not be happier since. You have done the right thing, look for support. Well, you've got it. YOU CAN DO THIS. Keep telling your self that. The surgery itself is not a quick fix. It is only a tool. Post sleeve is work and you need to commit to the changes now for it to be as effective as it can be. The rewards are worth it.. YOU are worth it. Taking my cheerleader suit off now. Good luck!!

    Most used kitchen appliance

For the first month or so, my Ninja was my best friend. Now that I'm a little further out, my kitchen scale is something I use every day. Also some good 4oz (or so) freezer to microwave containers. Makes portioning out food very easy. When I cook, usually on the weekends I wrap everything for me in single serve portions. Some I freeze some just refrigerate for immediate use. Makes eating during the week much easier. Good luck!

    December 11 sleevers

My Nutritionist recommended a pedometer, and though I was skeptical, it really does motivate me to move more. I use a FitBit that syncs with My fitness pal. Keeps me on track.

    December 11 sleevers

Also sleeved on 12/11. Surgery weight was 296 and today I was 260. I had a few weeks with no loss at all, but I've started to kick up my workouts and hopefully that will get me moving in the right direction. Still very happy with everything.

    Loose skin pic

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing, it is always so inspiring hearing from folks farther out in the process.
  14. Definitely focus on your drinking. As the others have said, sip, sip, sip. You do not want to get dehydrated. But do progress as your doctors have instructed. I agree, you should try to get some protein in, but you really need to keep yourself hydrated. Is is just the fear of vomiting or has it happened? Good luck!

    123 lbs loss

    Fantastic! Congratulations on your success!
  16. I was allowed those but I stuck mostly to the liquids but did have a sugar free pudding to eat with my crushed up my tylenol. I must sound like a broken record on here, but the unjury chicken Soup got me through and gave me a great Protein source. I have two cats, one of which did not like that she could not sleep on me or have me pick her up. She is just over 10lbs too. Glad you are recovering well!
  17. I'm with you, with the exception of a little tenderness getting up out of bed that lasted through the first 1 1/2 - 2 weeks, I felt normal after about 5 days. I consider myself very lucky that fatigue was never an issue. I do have to take into consideration that I could not lift anything over 10lbs. for the 6 weeks after, so I wasn't really doing all I usually do. I felt fine, but stuck to what my doc told me.

    Milk in the first week

How long are you on clear liquids for? Both my NUT and surgeon stressed hydration over protein intake for the first couple of days, but I was on full liquids out of the hospital.
  19. JerseyGirl68

    Gum

I didn't even try, my doctor said no gum.

    Liquid tylenol?

I agree with BeatrizS, I hated the taste of the liquid. I crushed up my tylenol caplets and mixed it in a small amount of sugar free pudding. I went off the pain meds after a day home, I felt the tylenol was more helpful. Good luck@

A few questions you've probably heard before

Anyone who has gone through a restricted pre-op will tell you it isn't easy maintaining such low calories without the surgery. The feeling of being satisfied and "full" makes a huge difference. Having 85% of your stomach removed includes the part of that releases the hormone ghrelin (appetite-regulating hormone). NO regrets at all. For me the greatest part of this is not feeling hungry, it makes it much easier to stay on track. But. It's not a cure all. It's a tool and if used correctly, it will work wonders. I feel I have been able to re-define my relationship with food and after taking the leap and going through with surgery, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my recovery initially and my success overall. If you question if you can do it without surgery, then you should definitely give it a shot. You have nothing to lose (but weight) Read all you can, take information from a bunch of sources here. Do some searches for specific questions, there are vets a few years out that are an enormous help in navigating all the info out there. Best of luck to you!
  23. Congratulations! So happy you made it through the surgery well. Keep up the walking, it will help so much. Have a great recovery! Welcome to the losers bench!

    spasms

Can you try crushing your pills or breaking them smaller? I was on full liquids when I got home, so I could crush a pill and put it in a small spoonful of sugar free pudding.
