    WOOHOO...SURGERY DATE IS SET!

Congratulations!! Hopefully after surgery it will be easier for you. You will be satisfied much easier because of the restriction. Very exciting!! Good luck!!

    I'm a Zombie! Any suggestions?

I imagine you had a full panel of blood work done prior to surgery. I found out before hand that my Vitamin D was very, very low. It took months to raise it up, but I feel like i have so much more energy now than I did before. Ask your NUT/primary doctor what they recommend. Good luck.

    With Blind Faith and Trepidation...

Welcome and congratulations on your decision for YOU! I had never been in the hospital prior to my surgery. This is, by far, the best decision I ever made for myself. Yes, you should have concern, but keep it measured and stay focused. Happy to have you here!! Best of luck

How do you regain it all?

I can imagine it happening pretty easily if someone isn't willing to make a lifestyle change. You can graze all day on junk food, ice cream, high calorie drinks etc. and take in over 2500 calories. Some Starbucks drinks are crazy high in calories and carbs. (a Venti white hot cocolate is almost 600 calories, 21 grams of fat and 78 gm of carbs) I'm not putting down Starbucks, I loved me some Frappucino's back in the day.

    What did you tell people?

I supervise the two office workers we have, and though I don't usually get into too much personal information, I did tell them. They could not have been more supportive. Now, neither of them have weight issues, but they joined me in eating healthier, not ordering out as much, bringing healthy Snacks (fruit). Now that I'm 3 months out I do order out lunch every now and then, if its Chinese food, I'll get steamed shrimp/chicken and Broccoli and some garlic sauce on the side. No rice, no eggroll. If we get from the deli, I'll get a "sub" but no roll. Lots of Protein and tastes great. I'm eating much less of course, but I dont' feel I'm outside of what everyone else is doing. I imagine this approach would not work for everyone, but it has been great for me. Good luck!

    New Favorite Treat

I love these for an occasional treat. Fiber One Protein Bars Coconut Almond. YUM
  11. I wasn't thrilled when I found out I was getting a cathedar, but thankful for it when in the hospital. It wasn't a bother except in my mind. My leak test doesn't seem to be the norm. I was made to lay on a steel bed on my side and turn once. It was not easy laying down or getting up at all, but I made sure to take a shot of the pain meds prior. The taste of the liquid you need to drink is not pleasant either. The only other thing that comes to mind other than that is for about 5 days after surgery I had some spasms right under my ribcage. Again, not ugly, just awkward. They progressively got better and after day 5 were gone completely. I only got the shots in my stomach prior to surgery and the next day. they were not painful at all. All very small prices to pay, in my opinion. Good luck!

They told me it was no problem to have painted nails. I asked the nurses specifically.

    So Weak I Can't Work

Hey there, sorry you are struggling. Did you also stop caffeine/soda or anything else at the same time as the start of your pre-op? Could be a combination of the restricted diet and withdrawal. Call your Nutritionist. Let them know what you are experiencing. They may let you up your calories. I'm sure they do not want you to be drained. Good luck!

    day 1 post op...

Glad to hear you're doing well. CONGRATS!!
  18. I agree the smaller plates and utensils help. I measure or weigh everything. When I'm packing leftovers or lunch, I measure everything out and pack in small tupperware/glad containers. 4oz. each. I'm lucky not really to be feeling hungry but that wasn't really my issue prior to surgery. Portion control was. Good luck!

Tomorrow I go from Pre to Post!

Best of luck to you!! Dusting off some room on the losers bench for you!
  20. My go-to instead of water is Vitamin water zero. I don't find it has an aftertaste.
  21. At 4 weeks out I was consuming a little more than that at a meal. I was on purees after 2 weeks, so I started earlier than you. You're far enough out from your surgery where the swelling has gone down so 1.5 oz doesn't sound unreasonable (to me anyway) What guidelines did your NUT give you for when you started pureed foods? My NUT wanted me to take a bite and put my fork down, chew, chew, chew and after a few seconds I could go again. Initially I was much, much slower. Partly from fear and partly from wanting to give my sleeve time to adjust to new food. I did hear some gurgles. Great start for you!! Congratulations!

    Lost my way

The best move you made is to recommit. Have you tried using a tracker like My Fitness Pal? If you log everything, it might help in keeping things in check. I have made sure to keep 'good' Snacks around if I feel the need, apple slices and a little Reduced fat Peanut Butter is my favorite. I spend a little more and get the single serve. Keeps me very in check with my portions. Check in often and get encouragement when you need it. We all need a boost now and then. Good luck,

    Abdominal Pain

Possibly galls stones. Have you been checked for those? I'm sorry you're experiencing pain, if it is gallstones I can relate. The pain is brutal. Congratulations on your success so far!
