    Foods you cant have again

hi, I am 13 months out and I eat popcorn every night (fresh popped in coconut oil with coconut oil on top rather than butter). I love it and it helps keep me "regular" better than fiber does. hope this helps.
  2. hi, that was one of the most surprising things for me after my sleeve. VERY little pain! I was a little uncomfortable getting in and out of a chair or bed but other than that was mild. Did not use much pain meds at home.
  3. some of my favorites of protein other than "meat" are GREEK yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, cheese, string cheese, Peanut Butter, non fat milk, eggs, Beans, and of course our powdered whey Protein Drink mix. good luck.

    Chewing Gum?

well first off call your Dr. but don't panic. my sister swallowed gum, freaked out, called her surgeon and he laughed and said "it will pass" but don't make a habit of it. She had gastric bypass.
  5. this is what my Dr. said. 1st month the MOST important thing is to get in your 64 oz of water. Don't worry about all the protein. (I would get nauseaus w/ the protein shakes) After 4 weeks slowly get in the protein & water. If I were you I wpuldn't "force" the protein yet. And yes- my Dr. is very experienced and highly recomended (Center of Excellence)

    Gallbladder Disease

hi, my Dr. put me on a medication to help prevent gallstones for the 1st 6 mos. post-op. It is called Actigall. He said sleeve patients may have a tendency (spelling?) to gallstones. maybe ask your Dr?

    Confused About Protein Drinks!

hi, these are the guidelines my nutrionist gave me. Have at least 60 - 70 grams of PURE Protein each day. Each serving should contain : at least 15 grams of protein less than 3 grams of fat less than 5 grams of carbohydrate
  10. that is just what my Dr. told me. THE MOST important thing the 1st month is getting in your liquids. Then you will concentrate on liquids AND protein. It made me feel much better. You may want to just mix 1/2 of your shake at a time because I have read the protein only stays stable for up to an hour.

    How Painful?

I couldn't agree more. NO pain- discomfort. Nausea was the worst for me and the bloating was second.

    Leg Cramps!

after my surgery(and before I was taking my vitamins = nausea) I had charly horses so bad I had to walk up stairs backwards so I didn't extend the calf as much. I started my vitamin D (I tend to run really low) and it went away. But I think you should for sure talk to your Dr. good luck.
  13. Good luck, we'll be thinking of you on the 24th.
  14. oh man you are SO right! the nausea and trying to get in all the liquid was the worst part! 2 months out and it seems like forever ago. SO glad I did it!!!
  15. hi, I had the sleve July 6th - this year. I had a c-section in 1986. (yes I am a grandma= 56) The c-section was MUCH worse for me. VERY difficult to get up and down w/out it feeling like things wanted to fall out. I had pain for a week. My sleeve was almost a piece of cake in comparison. I know some people have more pain but I only had the pain meds in the hosp. and at night to help me sleep. I can only sleep well on my belly and of course you can't do that for a while. I would say don't worry too much about "pain", dis-comfort is a better word. Ask your Dr. if you can use a heating pad because the warmth was very soothing for me. You will do great and I'll bet you will be amazed how little pain you really have. good luck!
