I love my sweets! I'm in my pre-op diet phase and I find the more low carb I go the less I want that crap. If I start upping my carbs...the cravings come back. Good luck!!

I am pre-op and I've started having a recurring nightmare that I've just taken a bite of real food but realizing too late that I'm supposed to be on liquids only! It totally freaks me out that I might forget after surgery. LOL.

Pre-Made Wild Salmon Patties From Sam's
tuturunner replied to Feeling Free's topic in Soft (stage 3)
The salmon patties from Costco are a staple for us. Just 4:30 minutes on the George Foreman grill and top it with a bit of BBQ sauce. But since we are terrible cooks...maybe we just love the simplicity! I also love the precooked chicken patties from Costco also. I'm still preop so who knows what I'll like or handle afterwards! -
This might be more of a rant but I would like to know your thoughts. I have a three month requirement for my insurance and I only have a few weeks left. I didn't mind at first that my insurance coordinator didn't return emails or voicemails because I knew I had 90 days left. But as time goes by and the 90 days is coming to an end, I've only gotten one email response all this time. I usually give up and call the main office if I think it's an answer someone else can handle (and they always do). All my interactions with the front office staff and surgeon have been great...but I hate feeling like I should be the one to pester the coordinator to at least return a call or email. I hear about others whose coordinators call them to check on how it's going and to make sure all the requirements are getting met and making sure of what paperwork is still needed. I found out today that one of my requirements (which I did back in August) wasn't showing up in the computer. So now do I have to worry about whether or not things are going to get loaded properly or contact everyone involved on each requirement to verify that the paperwork is being sent? Am I expecting too much as far as getting customer service from my coordinator? I'm not even the kind of person that likes to pester people. So I send emails and hope that I'll get a response within a couple of weeks (which often doesn't happen). Maybe I have too high expectations?

Are You Changing The Way You Eat Before Pre-Op Diet?
tuturunner replied to SarahG0417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am trying to make changes toward a healthier lifestyle in advance of surgery. I have another month before I can submit insurance paperwork. Am I perfect heck no. But I just get up the next day and do the best I can. I made a list of changes and I try one every week. The hardest part is not knowing if I will have it approved. So it doesn't seem real yet. Everyone has a different journey. Just spend some time thinking about how you want your journey to go. Enjoy the journey! -
Mine is pretty straight forward. I love running in tutus. Doesn't matter the distance, even marathons were done in costume. If you can't be fast at least have fun! Love making people smile when they don't want to during a marathon.

Runny Nose When Full
tuturunner replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so bizarre to read. I've had this issue all my life! I'm pre-op...does this mean it will get worse?! Runs in my family too. -
What Exactly Do These Coordinators Do?
tuturunner replied to Heyher's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have very little confidence in my coordinator. I knew I had three months of diet supervision so when I never got an email reply or phone call regarding a question I did cut her some slack. But month two is finishing up soon, does that mean at some point soon I'll be able to get a response? Its the worst customer service experience ever. So I try to talk to other people at the office instead if necessary. Hoping I don't have to be a pest. -
So happy to find this thread! Had to move out of the bible belt to realize what I believed or didn't believe when the people around me stopped telling me what to believe. I'm hoping to be sleeved this winter. I almost hesitated about my surgeon when he spoke to the group about god. But that's Texas for you! So I just laughed and told my religious mother she would love him! Funny thing now that I'm a recovering southern baptist...when I got married we discussed what would be crossing the line in our relationship to a point of no return. For him it would be me cheating on him. I thought about it and decided if he ever "got region" that would be crossing the line! I haven't cheated and he's still agnostic! Thanks for starting this thread!

What Has Been The Key To Your Success With Vsg?
tuturunner posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still in the early stages of getting approval for surgery but there is one question I would like to ask sleevers. I see on this message board how successful many of you are after surgery. That takes determination and willpower! I've been able to do that on and off for at most 6-9 months at any given time...but gain the weight back. How will I know that after surgery I will suddenly be able to do what I have not done successfully before on my own? What is it about the surgery as a tool helped you make that switch or connection to that determination/willpower? -
What Has Been The Key To Your Success With Vsg?
tuturunner replied to tuturunner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you hit the nail on the head with my real issue: "I am with you on the fear of failure, but honestly I think as morbidly obese individuals we are desensitized to believing ourselves. We haven't been successful long-term. Why would this be any different?" I truly appreciate all your ideas above. My husband and I were discussing this question tonight so I thought I would post it to the group. Got to start believing in myself! Thank you! -
I'm in the early stages of meeting with my surgeon. I'm choosing to go with a Dallas doctor too. Was a bit nervous about it all until I met him! Wasn't impressed with the seminars I went to in ABQ. What do you do for local support?
