Tx. You can get through this, and will be on the losers bench giving advice to the July sleevers before you know it (I'm July:)). Best of luck to you and all of you who have just gone or going soon. I'm excited for you and am following close behind.

July 23rd! I have my date!
ElaineB replied to ElaineB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cmt, my pre-op is similar. I get 2shakes a day and 1meat/veggie meal. That's for 2 weeks prior. I'm having some anxiety about it, but I will do what I have to do. You are a day ahead of me, so you are the guinea pig:). Lol. I'm glad for the support we can be for each other. I don't know about others, but I think my family gets worn out hearing about it:) -

Kw2, I think it's a great idea to track your weight loss in smaller increments. I want to do frequent photos for at least a year. That's super exciting that you will get to go to your event lolling and feeling good. I avoid all "reunion" activities now and can't wait to feel confident enough to go again. Make sure you do share "hot dress" photos:) -
Drop a raspberry in each slot of an ice tray. Fill with Water and freeze. Cut up a few thin slices of cucumber and put in a glass. Add a few sprigs of fresh mint. Add frozen raspberry cubes. Add water. These are very beautiful and refreshing. No need to eat the cucumber if you can't or don't want to. It feels indulgent and is virtually calorie free. I do eat the 3 or 4 berries:)

Thank you!! I'm so ready.

Lets keep in touch and cheer each other on. I cant wait to see what these next few months bring. I wonder what life will be like next year at this time? Do you have a specific pre-op diet? Where are you having surgery? -

Kw lets keep in touch. What type of pre-op diet are you required to do? Where are you having your surgery? I can't wait to see what life will be like next year at this time. -
I agree with the previous poster. Keep calling. No one cares more about this surgery than you do. Calling and politely hounding them keeps in the forefront of their thought. I called my insurance and the doctors office and I know it would have taken longer had I not done so. Good luck.

I wanted to punch her in her naturally skinny face!
ElaineB replied to thetattooedlady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
People who have always been thin truly don't understand. My mom's highest weight, 9 months pregnant was 117. She can be insensitive at times, but she truly doesn't understand. Just ignore that woman. Or, you could buy her that book by Judge Judy, "Beauty Fades. Dumb is Forever." -
I'm sending prayers and good thoughts your way. Just focus on how amazing you are going to look and feel in a few months. Best of luck.

Surgery date! but it is 2 months away.
ElaineB replied to taurabird's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for all the good info Taura. How was the leak test? I wish he did it in the OR like some. I haven't heard of that bracelet thing but thats awesome if it works. I probably would not have chosen Jawad initially if i had a choice, but i didn't. He is the only one allowed by my insurance. Having said that, he has really impressed me as being a very smart and experienced guy, and I'm thankful it's ended up this way. My friend had bypass with him and he did some unusual, but brilliant things with her that i haven't heard others doing. I think it was divine intervention:) How are you feeling now that you are home? Are you eating/drinking? I'm in Winter Springs. My boyfriend works in Longwood. We are "neighbors". Maybe we can get together at some point. Have you gone to any of the support group meetings? I have not. -

How are you doing? I'm having surgery with Dr. Jawad in July, I hope. I had no idea he put in an NGUYEN tube. Why on earth does he do that? You can stay hydrated with IV and I can't imagine protein is that critical in the hospital. It's freaking me out. -
Happy Birthday a day late. Since I'm cheap, I'd trade that sucker in for 2, $25.00 gift certificates and give one for Father's Day and 1 for Mamacita Loca's birthday. I definitely would regift, but at half value:)

I have 3 sons. I will probably precook some meals. I also plan to let everyone else pick up the slack while I focus on my meals for a while. I've told them all not to plan on me cooking a bunch of great meals while I'm on liquids:).

That is awesome. I'm in Orlando and it has been horrifically hot. I was out in it just watching baseball games and my ankles swelled and I thought I was going to die. To me that's what this is about. Not just losing weight, but changing your life. You are out there living and I think it's great. It's really inspiring. -

What do you think? Do you consider me a slow loser?
ElaineB replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pre-op but it seems pretty darn good to me. Im sure the 3 pound month was discouraging, but for those first 3 months you still averaged more than 12 pounds a month. That's awesome. I hope I do close to that well. Are you seeing changes in clothes and inches ?
