100 G Protein And 600 Calories?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Food and Nutrition
100 grams of Protein is 400 calories. Add in the fat that is natural to most protein elements and you literally have room for nothing else if you're seriously sticking to 600 calories a day. Remember, fat has 9 calories per gram so it adds up quickly. 30 grams of carbs would have another 120 calories. You don't have room for that many. Sounds to me like you need to up your calories a bit if you're seriously going to try and get in 100 grams of protein and 30-40 grams of carbs a day. -
4 pounds a week is the average loss. You're ALL doing great. Quit beating yourselves up and thinking you're losing slow!
-
Now when else would 26 pounds in less than a month be slow???? You're doing AWESOME!!! That's more than 6 pounds a week! You aren't going to lose 100 pounds in a month.

Soft foods on my plan included things like chicken salad (pulsed in the food processor), egg salad, tuna salad. I could have well-cooked squash, cauliflower, etc.
-
I made pumpkin and turkey sausage Soup and pureed it smooth. It was wonderful. I also made a "taco" soup and did the same with it. I needed spice and flavor at that stage.
-
Ok, so my recipe definitely needs more protein. Divided it into 6 servings for 129 calories, 11.8 grams of carbs, 4 fiber, and 7.2 grams of protein.

I took an 8 oz block of Weight Watchers cream cheese, 1 cup of non-fat Oikos plain yogurt, 1 box of sugar free cheesecake pudding mix and 1 cup of Almond Milk and mixed it all together with my hand mixer. I added in a little almond flavoring and some SF Torani Vanilla. Yummy! This afternoon I had 1/2 cup of "cheesecake" with some sliced strawberries and a few almond slivers. I haven't sat down and calculated calories and Protein yet. I figure I can throw a scoop of vanilla protein powder, some additional almond milk and some frozen strawberries and use the rest up making smoothies for Breakfast.

How's This For 'fried' Food?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to theoldmusicbox's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Fiber one (the twigs stuff), pulsed in your food processor with your favorite seasonings is a great FIBER-loaded, but tasty, coating for meats. -
I love, love, love fluff recipes!!! Totally having some this weekend.

Cooking After The Sleeve
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still cook for family functions. And, yes, the recipes have changed to adapt to me. Many times, they don't even realize what I've done to change up the recipe. I just say I'm trying something new that I thought everyone would like. For example, for our gathering tomorrow I am taking pulled pork (sauce on the side), deviled eggs with light mayo, a couple of different side items (probably a black bean salad and a veggie tray) and a sugar free lemon pudding dessert and fruit. My mom will cook and so will my sister. I want to make sure I always have healthy choices available. -

How Many Chips Can You Eat?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Butterthebean's topic in Food and Nutrition
lol... you really must have had free time! I had 1/2 a hamburger patty, a bite of pinto Beans and 5 kettle style bbq chips for dinner last night. That was a "holiday" meal. I thought I was being pretty reasonable but now you have me all paranoid. I guess comparing to to a pre-sleeve meal it was good. Pre-sleeve would have been a cheeseburger, a huge serving of baked beans and a ton of chips to top it off... and of course a diet dr pepper to wash it all down. -
Haven't Even Started Exercise Yet
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Skittle's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm sorry you're sick. Start walking this weekend... start slow and build up your endurance. After you're well and cleared by your doc, kick it up into high gear. My first month was walking, my 2nd month started with Water aerobics and treadmill and a few weight machines. Now, at 3 months, I put the treadmill on high incline and walk as fast as I can for 10 minutes to warm up, then switch to elliptical for 20 minutes (at least) and then either do weight lifting or more cardio on the bike. I've tried a variety of classes. Zumba was the first (what a laugh, I'm so uncoordinated), then I went to kickboxing (and LOVED IT) but they cancelled the class due to the instructor getting hurt. My latest new class is yoga for flexibility. I'm learning to love exercising. -
Almost forgot.... I put sliced strawberries and other frozen berries (no sugar) in my greek yogurt nearly every day.
-
I like cantaloupe, watermelon, apples (no skin yet), pineapple (canned). All have been fine for me as long as I chew, chew, chew.

Disappointed And A Little Sad
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to FattyBoombalatty's topic in Rants & Raves
I still see myself as "the fat chick" too. I am just now starting to realize that I'm "normal fat" instead of "super fat." One thing in your post struck me... "I'm annoyed and angry that my mom still looks at me when I eat and I can "see" her butt hole clench." Sounds like maybe you need to avoid your mom! You have to eat to live and you're not overeating these days (and probably not eating junk food with your excellent weight loss). Good luck, Robyn -
How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Food and Nutrition
My sister LOVES the isopure zero carb drinks. Don't let me gagging over them discourage you. Try one or two. It may be your savior in those early post-op days. -
I Ate And It And I Am Not Going To Beat Myself Up!
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to franfaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you don't start justifying a "treat" every day, you should be ok! It's the "I deserve this treat every single day or two or three or four times a day" issue that leads us back to where we were. I had a 1/4 of a roll at the pizza place (along with some salad and the toppings off of 1 slice). I had vowed I would NOT eat that roll, but dammit it smelt so good! -
In Serious Pain, What Can I Take
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to melissamae99's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is very little you can take. You need to figure out why you're having hte pain and that's going to take a consult with a doc. -
No Outside Food Allowed
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to vampsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a moderately large purse I carry with me sometimes. It has tons of pockets and I can hide quite a variety of small bags of my "snacks." If I am going to one of those places that searches your bag, I have found that I can hide snacks in a makeup bag under the tampons! No security guard EVER searches through those!!! -
Vsg Vs. Rny
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to newbeginnings2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hiatal hernia repair by a general surgeon first and then my bariatric surgeon scrubbed in and did the sleeve. Apparently it is a pretty common thing in their practice to do things this way. Not quite 3 months out but I am doing awesome. And I LOVE NOT HAVING REFLUX!!!!!! -
Need Advice For Experienced Vsg-Ers
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to So Ready's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve. One doc repaired the hernia and then the second doc did the sleeve. I had horrible reflux prior to surgery and NOW IT'S GONE!!!! And so is 75 pounds!!!! I have at least 100 more to lose. It is possible. Stick with your instinct. Don't do something that isn't right for you and your lifestyle. I LOVE my sleeve.
