Reglan And Its Unbelievable Side Effects
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Amandazee13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
REglan is BAD, BAD, BAD. Dumb FDA won't pull it. -
Had the official 3 month post-op gastric sleeve visit and weigh in today. Per doctor's scales -75 pounds and -50 inches!!! woohooo!!!! My bp was 120/70 with a heart rate of 56!!! I have never in my LIFE had a heart rate of 56!!!!. Labs: My A1C was perfect @ 5.8. I am low on Iron and Vitamin d so I have to supplement those now. Meds: Stop the lisinopril/hctz; add in Vitamin D and iron. (That means NO prescription meds now except omeprazole and singulair!!! I was on 3 diabetes drugs- headed for insulin, blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds and 2 anti-depressants pre-op.) Diet: Up Protein intake to 100 grams a day, no more than 80 grams of carbs and (holy cow batman) don't exceed 800-1200 calories a day. But, he advised not counting calories, just count protein and carbs and "everything will be fine." I'm ecstatic!!! (but I am wondering how on earth I'm supposed to eat 100 grams of protein a day).

3 Month Post-Op Visit
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Robyn Owens-Miille's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I exercise 4 times a week. 25 minutes on the elliptical and then weight lift for about 45 minutes. I know the sunkist isn't the best variety of Protein for us but I thought about trying them. I can't gag down the whey protein products. -
Whey Liquid Protein Shots - Which Are Best
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have yet to find a whey product that I can drink. I've been told multiple times to get the premier shakes. So, I got some chocolate (that was all Sam's club had) and I sit there and gag with every sip of it. This morning it was ice cold, with a straw in a covered cup so I don't have to smell it and I still can't choke it down. I broke the straw rule thinking it would keep me from smelling it and bypassing a lot of the taste buds. I drank 1/2 before I just couldn't do any more. They just taste so gaggy!!!!! -

Curious... anyone got a reference about the differences in whey protein and casein protein? They're both milk proteins. -

A PDCAAS value of 1 is the highest, and 0 the lowest. The table shows the ratings of selected foods. [2][3][4] [5] 1.00 casein (milk protein) 1.00 egg white 1.00 soy Protein 1.00 whey (milk protein) 0.99 mycoprotein 0.92 beef 0.91 soybeans 0.78 chickpeas 0.76 fruits 0.75 black Beans 0.73 vegetables 0.70 Other legumes 0.59 cereals and derivatives 0.52 peanuts 0.42 whole wheat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_Digestibility_Corrected_Amino_Acid_Score Even though it's wikipedia, it's well-referenced. -
3 Month Post-Op Visit

Still Stalled
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to susanfaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is adjusting. Keep on the straight and narrow path and it will catch up. Hide the scale. Go by how you feel and how your clothes are fitting. I'm only 3 months post-op myself. Had a major stall right at 2 months that lasted for almost a month and then my body finally just started dropping again. I know it's hard... you want it to move.. You're DESPERATE for it to move. Quit looking at the scale. It no longer rules you, you RULE IT!!!!! -
Disney After Vsg
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Barisaxylady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you end up at the non-buffet spots, some suggestions: Chinese food- egg drop soup Mexican fast food- refried Beans and ask for a scoop of taco meat or chicken to be added. Chick-fil-a kids meal... order the grilled chicken nuggets and fruit cup. McDonald's... order the grilled chicken snack wrapper with no sauce or lettuce. Eat the grilled chicken and the little bit of shredded cheese. if you do end up at the buffet... look for boiled shrimp, grilled chicken skewers, beef kabobs, etc. I would personally slip a few items into my purse to take back to the hotel fridge. Make sure you pack shakes and crystal light. Find a grocery store and pick up string cheese, hard boiled eggs, low sodium lunch meat, etc. Have fun! -
Chia Seed Users - Step On In...

I use them like Butterthebean does. I'm thinking of trying this recipe with strawberries: http://rabbitfoodformybunnyteeth.com/cherry-chia-jam/. I want to mix it in my yogurt. -
3 Weeks Post Op! Need Advice
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to mariah081803's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like the one poster said, try a liquid with calories in it (like Gatorade). You're getting in so few right now that your body is not having enough to run off of. Call your doc for some nausea meds and let them know what's going on. A couple of teaspoons every 2-3 hours is ok at this early, early stage. Good luck! it does get better with time. -
What Are You Feeding Your Family This Week?
Robyn Owens-Miille posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What is on your menu next week to eat? I'm trying to plan my grocery list and am fresh out of ideas. I try to cook something that I can eat along with them with minor adaptations. For example, if they are having tacos I would have small taco salad or if I'm making them pizza I make me a tortilla pizza using a whole wheat low carb tortilla. I would love some new ideas for family meals that I can eat at least part of. I stick to low carb overall. -
If you're eating out while dating and you haven't shared your surgery yet, just order a small, appropriate entree and eat your little bit. Spend time talking during the meal so that he won't even notice you're eating just a small amount. This will help you eat slower too. You could always say that you don't eat many carbs and that's why you avoid the bread basket, potatoes, etc. I'm married, but I have quite a few business lunches and I use this philosophy. Good luck girls!

What Are You Feeding Your Family This Week?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Robyn Owens-Miille's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wandered around the supermarket last night to get some ideas. I didn't take the kids or hubby so no one was rushing me or begging for treats. a turkey breast (will do in the crock pot) some small steaks pork loin (for the smoker) orange roughy filets shrimp grapes for the kids 2 lbs of strawberries (I clean them and freeze them) canned turkey chili (24 grams of protein per cup and 98% fat free!) produce: zucchini, bell pepper, mushrooms, onion, carrots, celery, tomatoes & lettuce fat free, low sodium chicken stock I already had chicken breast, ground turkey breast, ground beef and a roast in the freezer plus our usual supply frozen veggies and fruit and dry goods that the family can eat. This should give us plenty of things to cook that are "sleeve friendly" and keep us all at the table eating similar meals. -
101 Lbs Down And A Lecture From My Doc?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Debvzw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Does a sugar free popsicle count as food? I was told 4-5 mini meals by my doc. I know every doc is different. I usually eat breakfast between 0730-0800, lunch @ 12:30, dinner around 5:30-6:00 and then a protein supplement @ bedtime (a protein shake, yogurt, etc). Sometimes if I'm just dying mid-afternoon, I will have 1/2 a quest bar, a few nuts, or something else protein based to tide me over until dinner. -
Not-So-Major Nsv

I love it. My husband has never been able to just buy me a necklace. He's always had to look at the chain, see it it would fit on my longer chains, etc. I was looking at one of the "skinny girl" chains in my jewelry box last night and wondered if I could wear it. I may try it on later today now that you've inspired me. No matter how small, they're still victories! -
I never drank anything other than diet dr pepper pre-op (a 2 liter a day at least). I am 3 1/2 months post-op and I will admit to a sip or two but it's just too sweet now and doesn't have that same zing to me any more. For at least 8 weeks pre-op, I WANTED one, no NEEDED one, every day but I didn't give in. Now, I no longer want them. Yeah!!! I drink Water, crystal light, propel zero, fuze slenderize, water with a splash of tea. Good luck! Don't give in. It's the best thing you can do for yourself. Experiment with the zero or very low calorie drinks that are water based and find things you like.

Outfit To Travel On Long Flight Post Op.
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to germen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The green one looks more comfortable and that's what you will want after surgery. Good luck! -
I was wanting warm comfort food tonight. softened 1/2 an onion, chopped fine in a tablespoons of olive oil. Add a lb bag of cauliflower florets, 4 cups of Water and 1 stock packet (the concentrated stuff) add 1 cup of milk when soft Add salt, pepper and some garlic once tender, pureed until smooth with the stick blender (You could leave it chunky if you want) I split the recipe in 1/2 at this point pot 1: added 1 bag of jimmy dean turkey sausage crumbles and some crushed red pepper flake pot 2: added about a cup of 2% cheese (mix of swiss and american), 12 oz of low sodium lean ham cubed up, 3 slices of turkey bacon (cooked and crumbled) Both are so yummy! I can't decide which I like more. I despise cauliflower and potato Soup is something I absolutely adored previously (we didn't do tomato soup when you were sick, we did potato soup!). I'm very happy with this replacement! I haven't run them through sparkpeople yet for for calories, fat, Protein, etc.

Can Eat Everything
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Skyjack1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you're 5 weeks out and you've lost 24 pounds but been stuck for 2 weeks, that means you lost 24 pounds in 3 weeks. You are doing great! Your body has hit the "3 week stall." It is simply in shock by the amount of calories you have cut from it. The average weight loss is 4 lbs a week so you're still doing good even with your stall. Keep eating right and exercising and I promise, all of the sudden, you will start dropping the weight again. Most of us here have been in the same place. But, as the prior posts said.... don't go off plan. This is the time to be establishing new habits that you will stick with for the rest of your life. -

What forms of payment do you accept? Are you tall? I'm short @ 5'3" with short legs so if you bought talls the pants would never work.
