Tell Me About Your New Clothes
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Boofster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been to Goodwill & resale shops and been given a lot of hand me downs from friends. I have bought a few basic items- undies, bra, workout clothes. I try to really limit spending and make sure it's an item that will fit for a while before I buy it. -

So - For The Guy Who Works Too Much.. Recipies?
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Inline6E46's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Crockpots are wonderful for moist, tender meat. I do the salsa chicken mentioned above. I also throw some carrots, celery and onions in the bottom of a crockpot, add a whole small roasting chicken that i have seasoned and cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hrs on low. Doesn't get browned, but it's so moist and yummy. Great for pulling off the bone and munching on or cooling down and making salads with. I do roasts, pork chops, etc also. I bought one with a meat thermometer that cuts itself back to warm when the meat reaches temp. crockpots are great for busy people. -
Hair Loss For People With Already Thin Hair
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to kamrie37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sometimes (many times) even adequate protein doesn't prevent it. Our bodies just get shocked from the rapid weight loss and hair loss is a side effect. -
Had my 3 month post-op check on September 19th (more like 3 1/2 months) and had lost a total of 75 pounds. Since then... I've lost nothing, nada, zip, zilch, nothing. My brain knows all the logical reasons... rapid weight loss up front, body readjusting, etc. But my emotional part of me is in sheer panic that i'm done losing weight. I'm really working on my Protein intake, pushing fluids and changing up my work outs. If something doesn't give soon, I may just break down and cry. My surgeon's goal for me is 100 grams of protein a day with no more than 80 grams of carbs. I aim for 80 oz of fluids. Just looking for some encouragement.

Big Stall... Hate This
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Robyn Owens-Miille's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I know it will start. My exercise routine is 4 days a week of 30 minutes on the elliptical (evil machine) and then about 45 minutes lifting weights. I lift light weights and do 3 sets of 10 reps through the entire circuit at our gym. I feel like I need to add cardio on my other days even if it's just a nice long walk around the block. -
I'm an RN so I feel your pain. My favorite Snacks are beef or turkey jerkey, nuts (usually almonds), Protein bars (Quest are my favorite), crystal light and light string cheese sticks or baby bel cheese. I toss the stuff that needs cooling in an insulated lunch sack with a small freezer pack and the rest in my bag. Good luck!

I Find It Odd
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why would you be eating bread? At this early stage your intake is all about Protein, protein, protein. You need to protein to prevent loss of lean body mass (muscle) and hair loss. You don't really have room for bread in your diet. At 4 months post-op, I rarely have a bread-type carb in the form of whole wheat low-carb tortilla (and then can eat less than 1/2). I'm too busy just trying to get in 90-100 grams of carbs a day. Bread is not an essential part of our diet. I avoid all white things (bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes). -

I Hate Stalls! :{
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a week or so behind you and I'm stuck too. The scale hasn't moved in the past 2 weeks. To top it off, it's been a crazy 2 weeks and I've only been to the gym 3 times in 2 weeks. Gotta just keep focusing on diet, Water and exercise. I know eventually it will start moving again but right now it stinks! -
Restaurant Food Choices? 19 Days Post Op.
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If they have it, broccoli cheese soup would be a good thing to try. Just avoid the big pieces of broccoli and eat the soupy part. -
At this early stage, ask him to not bring them in to the house. My husband and sons would go out for pizza rather than bring it home. They look yummy though.

Meal Planning For Single Parents With Young Children - Need Suggestions!
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to funkeechiggen's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Will she eat turkey meatballs? I make a batch and then cool them and freeze them. I can eat them and so can my kids. I cook up ground turkey or ground beef with just basic seasoning and then I can defrost it for a quick meal. I add taco seasoning and we make nachos out of it for the kids and a "taco" salad for me (minus the chips). Or sometimes I use it for a quick shepherd's pie or spaghetti sauce. grilled chicken tenders on the george forman are another thing I do that's quick and easy. (I grill fish on it too!) Good luck! -

Scrambled eggs are an easy go to meal. I love the chicken and apple sausages at Trader Joe's. We cut up 1 into bite size pieces and scramble it with 3 eggs. My husband eats about 2/3 of it and I eat 1/3. It's so yummy. I also buy Jimmy Dean pre-cooked turkey sausage crumbles and will put those in an egg. Another option is a good quality lunch meat. There are lots of options out there. -

Carbs, Carbs, Carbs!
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to buforu21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just please make sure you're getting enough protein so that you're not losing lean body mass. You don't want to lose your muscles to weight loss. After all, they are what give you an awesome shape in your new body. -
There is a post on here titled "sex, oh my God, sex." Look it up!!! And yes, 80 lbs down makes a LOT of difference for us. We just recently have been able to try with me on top (first time ever and we've been together 11 years). Looking forward to the next 80 lbs!!!

"ehhh You Cheater"
Robyn Owens-Miille replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have had several people at work comment on how "easy this is for you" or "it sure is coming off fast." "Aren't you glad you took the easy way?" (my personal favorite) I just look at them and say, "care to join me at the gym tonight while I sweat my ass off on the elliptical for 30 minutes and then weight lift for another 45? Or how would you like to join me in eating my 3 oz serving of Protein while surrounded by people in the cafeteria who are eating fried corn dogs, onion rings and homemade chocolate cake?" That usually shuts them up. -
I'm also a My Bariatric Solutions/ Dr. Stowers patient. My hiatal hernia repair was covered by my insurance. I paid $7200 for the rest of the procedure.
