I have never used it personally when I was discovering quinoa (2 weeks ago lol) I looked up loads of things and some baking recipes come up for it so its been in my mind for such a thing. as far as i coudl tell they used it in place of all flour for everything cookies cakes pancakes muffins bread etc I googled the flour and people were saying its bitter as a flour reading on this pre baking kills off the bitter taste just like washing and toasting does with the seeds.

High Heels....
sassypants replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I am having a thigh lift if it kills me! Skirts dresses shorts bathing suits are all things I want to wear without some kinda under thingy hiding it or holding it and um whos ever going to go on holiday and wear leggings or something under a bathing suit because your have saggy thigh skin just flapping around! So yeah not had a holiday since the op either coz no point if I can’t chill in the sun coz of thighage lol I can hide my upper body but the thighs it’s a little harder I am always saying to my sister can you see my skin? Mostly I wear tights or something if I am leaving the house so I can pull up the skin and not have it seen (though I stick to really thick black tights so you cant see a thing anyway!) -
I was told no ibuprofen and no aspirin based pain meds at all. Aspirin based meds thin the blood and can cause bleeding and also irritate the stomach lining if you had a acid problem before like moi it was already off the list and a no no med. I take paracetamole/codeine type meds. Find out from your doc what your allowed to take.

try something like quinoa flour instead read this btw if your going to bake with it do this first.... Trust me, baking the quinoa may be an extra step, but it is simple and easy and will make your baked goods better tasting and better for you. You don't need to toast or pay attention to quinoa while you are heat processing it, but heat process it you must. Here's all you need to do to make baking-ready quinoa flour: Preheat oven to 212 or 215 F (100 C) Empty out bag of quinoa flour onto as many sheet pans as you need, preferably onto a new piece of parchment paper Make sure the layer of flour is no deeper than 1/4" Place in preheated oven for two hours Remove from oven. Allow to cool. Place in bags Store bag in freezer for up to 8 months if you are not planning to use flour soon. Whole quinoa flour is relatively high in fat, making it vulnerable to oxidation and rancidity. Freezing will extend the shelf-life. Use as you would any other gluten-free flour

How are you on drinks? For me cold and room temp were an utter no no a lot of pain I could only have warm/hot stuff. I still really don’t like Water it doesn’t feel right when I drink it. We do burp a lot I think its highly amusing personally that you toss 80% of your stomach away and its like what we really did was inflate it 80% bigger and fill it with air the amount we burp. So maybe its gas/air pain? This may sound like a really odd question but are you a mouth or nasal breather? If you’re a mouth breather you might be sucking in a lot of air when you eat or drink and this is giving you extra trapped gas/air pain. Normally this wouldn’t have mattered as you had more space for it to go in to but now with the smaller stomach its fighting for room with your food 15mins after you eat have some hot tea Hot Drinks help with that.

it starts to fall out around the 4th or 5th month. It doesn’t have anything to do with your hair being treated or not the act of surgery it happens but rapid weightloss makes your hair fall out. I did find though that after my gall bladder op I got grey hair then after the sleeve I got even more grey hair same thing happened to my sister with her appendix op she got grey hair lol

I too dislike cottage cheese with a passion, not a fan of Greek yoghurt at all, eggs after the op are not my friend at all so they are no good! In that stage for me I pretty much did tuna, ready brek (Breakfast Cereal like flaked oats) with Protein powder on it (which was kinda gross honestly lol) Stewed my own fruit for mushy fruit sweet stuff to have a different taste (also mixed it with my crushed up meds to swallow easier) Other types of fish either in a can like sardines or that I baked or poached it’s a soft food and very easy to eat and mash up the fish flakes in your mouth. Think baby food if you can shove it in a blender with a sauce/gravy etc and whiz it up to a mush your good to go. Tuna doesn’t have to be with mayo try like some lemon or lime juice pepper mix it together. Or make a kinda Italian tuna little bit of oil some seasoning maybe a little finely finely diced onion. Or grated cheese and tuna with some onion (that I used to like on toast then toasted, I also used to do that as a like hot pocket in a sandwich maker lol) Mix it with some tomato sauce and seasoning. (Not ketchup btw like tomato Pasta sauce) Tuna really doesn’t have to be with just mayo. -
Why can’t you take painkillers? I am on them for my back and I was fine taking mine 1 month out I just broke them up into 4 (I always do anyway) and took them. The first month I was on kids medicine called calpol but not the baby one the older kids one lol I didn’t close to the op but for the past year I have been taking cod liver oil, one of the easiest things I could eat after the op was fish maybe if you like them try sardines or other oily fish mackerel etc to get some omega3 oils inside you. I could not drink that stuff ewwww but if you can go for your life lol

Why is my doctor pushing for bypass?
sassypants replied to green*eyed*girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact same thing not by my actual surgeon but by one od the doctors on that team who saw me 1 time for pre op assessment. She tried to push it on me and point blank told me if I had the sleeve I wouldn’t lose a lot of weight and put it all back on in 2 years anyway and would end up coming back to them for the bypas in the end so why not just do it now and save all that time and money. When I saw my surgeon and asked him why she wanted me to have it did I have to as in is that my only choice as I do not want it he said no not at all. He went on to explain they have more data for the bypass its been around longer so they tend to go for that one overall but this one is fast becoming the better option it just doesn’t have as much data to compare it. Hes been doing wls for 10 years and he didn’t think I needed bypass and didn’t want to give it to me anyway. So I think you have one of them stuck in his ways doctors who has been doing the bypass for so long goes on the years of data for it over the sleeve and tries to push that overall. Personally I would get another doctor my fear would be they put me under say some rubbish and I wake up with the bypass instead and that would make me flip the F out! I just couldn’t pay or trust someone who was pushing something else on me. -

I’ve been thinking about this and going off of some comments I get this is my thinking… I get told in that jokey manner hey skinny B don’t stand next to me your too small now! (the B word isn’t a insult its just how we are lol) your smaller than me now skinny ar.se! blimey your gonna be smaller than everyone if you keep going! Ok ok stop losing weight now skinny B! This is my thinking its shocking to people, there is always someone bigger than them and I ALWAYS as the biggest person in the room now I am not. I think it makes people think about their self and their body and hmm are they now the biggest or one of the biggest in the room now?!?! So all this be careful stuff to me is more like “hey be careful you don’t get too small”…… (small print to comment) because then YOU will be smaller than ME and WHAT THE HELL!!!!! I don’t think people realise they are even doing it that’s it just a thought they think is about you and for your own good but really there is a underlying its for them thought going on there. Because in my life at least people who don’t have body issues no matter its size don’t make these comments to me its just the ones who always did always went on diets always talking about losing weight or the ones who recently actually gained weight.

thanks and of course congrats to you too!

Survey - Carbonated Drinks? Do u drink them?
sassypants replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have and I will the odd time if I fancy one or I am out boozing, which isn’t often lol I was a massive cherry coke junkie but because I was terrified of getting diabetes I would drink a lot of zero I drank at least 2liters of coke a day pre op we also didn’t have zero cherry then either. My taste for it has changed I find it sweet, I never liked diet coke because it was so sweet to me now zero is the same fake super sweet so not as ahhh that’s the stuff like it was before. I was told by one of my doctors seriously to stretch my sleeve by drinking carbonated drinks all day every day day after day for months and I would stretch it out. Long story short I have a small sleeve it was his way of telling me how I can make it bigger and have more room. 1 soda wont stretch you out 1 a week wont even do it you have to keep on doing it constantly over a period of time to have the gas stretch you out. They just dont want us to for that reason AND soda is a major cause of weight gain even diet when people just cut soda out of there diet and nothing else they drop a lot of weight its crazy. I think I first tired a cherry coke about 2 months out didn’t have more than about 4 mouthfuls in total before I was over it but yeah off and on since no addiction to it for me, had it in a mixer on 27th of dec and didn’t drink much of it none in jan not even half a glass at a baby shower 2nd of feb, had a full can of zero cherry coke today so you can see for me I do but not much. -
I am so confused about food
sassypants replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be a little more blunt about it if you are told eat 5oz of food don’t eat 8oz. It doesn’t matter if you can because its not as dense - don’t. You are given a set food amount for several reasons. to not stretch the stomach at all by over stuffing it. to keep meals small and you losing weight to retrain your brain to recognise the real full signals we all ate past long long ago and not go by the bloated feeling which we all think is full. -
Need some mental support as I realize this...

i also feel your kinda punishing yourself to make yourself feel as low and bad about yourself as possible to sorta explain why you need to have the op. you dont need to do that you don;t need the op as a punishment because your A B and C its ok to WANT the op, and its ok to want it for positive reason not as a punishment because your so A B and C. don;t be so hard on yourself its ok to admit your unhappy deeply unhappy, its also ok to admit you don;t like yourself if thats how you feel you don;t have to punish yourself every step of the way to beat yourself up more to feel even worse.
