Look at the pros and cons of both and how you feel about intestine moving vs stomach removal. Also the known outcomes of each ours is not reversible the bypass is but the bypass means malabsorption ours doesn’t. How much weight do you need/want to lose? Its pointless to ask people with 1 or the other who love their choice as they will tell you do the one they got. What you need is to look at what you want after what the after effects will mean to you. Don’t speak to doctors who favour either, as they will tell you to go for the one they like to perform. Also any other health issues you have that might effect you after with one or the other. I can tell you from my own experience I never wanted bypass and was worked with anxiety and kinda upset when one doctor in my team tried to force it on me as my option during one appointment with her. (thankfully my only appointment with her) I was worried I had no choice but to have bypass and it was upsetting for me. I know a lot of people who have had bypass and I get the good the bad and the down right ugly. I personally know 1 other person who has had the sleeve that’s it and she had it 2013 so after me so she wasn;t my reference. I didn’t like the idea of my intestines being moved or the malabsorption pre op I already had major malabsorption issues from major bad ibs I was on triple the amount of supplements I am now and my levels were always low very very low so for me I did not want to add to that with bypass. And the intestine moving I dunno it just seemed too much to me like too much tinkering inside me and not how I am meant to be it just didn’t seem right to me. A smaller stomach isn’frankenstiening my insides it just never felt right to me. Thankfully my doc said he didn’t think bypass was a good idea for me because of my ibs and he saw no reason why I had to have it over the sleeve and give me a load of good info on how well the sleeve works. He does every type of wls so didn’t push any in particular on me didn’t use scare tactics on me didn’t fudge numbers give me straight info on it all and that I really liked I knew what I wanted was the right choice for me. Information overload will mess with your mind all the youtube vids good and bad all the info it will make your head spin like mad! When you look at it all and know yes that’s what I want you will be ok.

Vomiting and diarrhea , no fever or pain
sassypants replied to Darianna75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had that for about a week last month! I was like what the hell is this I don’t feel sick! I didn’t try to eat much just some Soup drink my tea and shakes even if I was puking them up right after I just kept drinking them as I thought well some of it would absorb and I don’t want to be dehydrated! It also might be why I lost 11lbs in feb lol -
Mechanical Soft Foods
sassypants replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just don’t blend it as much so its more lumpy. Think about a baby goes from milk to pureed to soft food. The foods the same thing (if its not pre made bought jars) Its just what you stick in a blender and either whiz the hell out of or pulse some what to the texture you want. Then you can add soft things like oatmeal, scrambled eggs, fish things you can mash up in your mouth soft. Basically its what mashes under a fork so steak is not on the list as it wont mash. -
It doesn’t matter if you are getting all your Protein and Vitamins it just happens it’s a known fact of rapid weightloss. I could fill cups with all my hair that come out every time it does stop its depressing but it does stop!

Mechanical Soft Foods
sassypants replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whatever you can stick in a blender and whiz up basically! Just be smart on what it is you put in there of course. I also ate a lot of fish as it was super easy on my stomach and sat well. I personally didn’t; go for a lot of blended meats even mush just felt tight so a lot of fish and veg were my meals. I also stewed fruit for something sweet and soft as a taste change. -
Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves
sassypants replied to ChristmasJanet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think there are pros and cons who did he study under for one? Like mentioned has he got experience with other wls? A pro for me would be I assume he’s making his mark studying up on it as its “new” to him so I wont be stuck in his ways and doing whats current and the best for the best results. Check his other patients how many had issues if any how was the follow up for them. Not having as many under his belt means maybe more aftercare too. As long as I am not patient 1-5 I am good! Cons you might think he doens;t have enough experience to know what hes doing he might not of studied under anyone he might not know what to do after. Its just all things to think about I know my surgeon had over 10 years experience in wls and not just wls he would perform other operations on high risk weight patients I know this as he performed my gall bladder op when no one else would and that’s when he told me about wls and if I wanted it to come back to him. I also wasn;t his only op or sleeve that day either. For me I was extremely happy with my doc as I already went under the knife with him know for a fact him and his team all have a lot of experience with high risk ops across the board not just solely wls. -
Okay Ladies - Let's talk skin!
sassypants replied to butterfyeffect's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That was a quick post let me fill in some more on what I do (don’t do lol) Don’t drink Water at all my Fluid intake daily is decaf tea and Protein shakes lol I’ve used both cocoa butter cream then a mix of almond oil and lemon or orange oil for my skin as citrus is a tigthener. Don’t really exercise much I couldn’t for the first 8 months then I went swimming once a week then moved on to the gym doing weights for 30mins 2-3 times a week which I haven’t got back into since nov. My thighs were the first to go an looked like that within the first month boom! It went so fast off there they were a lot more saggy the skin caught up some. You do notice skin being saggier then not as saggy then hanging again then not so bad its trippy my upper arms I noticed doing this over and over. Weight going skin catching up weight going over And over. I was told pre op my legs would be fine not much if any skin sag but my belly would hang low like to my knees, which was a guess at pre op body and how tight my skin was over my fat I wasn’t a jiggly fat person it was all very tight and solid. Clearly not the case post op lol I do think I am lucky I have seen a lot of tv shows etc like we all do and the skin on some people is crazy my original size even smaller than me its like wow I see myself and I am like frig you lucky B could be so much worse than you have it now! I would be interested in seeing other pics but I know for a lot of people its just not something they want to post. Me I show everyone lol been in the hair dressers and pulled my top up and dropped my pants to my knees. I will show anyone who asks any place any time I’m a weirdo like that lol -

Can & Can'ts of Gastic sleeve
sassypants replied to Bellasarrah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It all depends on the person really things I were told wouldn’t sit well after the op like green Beans are fine. So the things my sleeve hates and will not stand for me trying to eat so I puke hard right after always are: eggs Creamy stuff Watermelon There are things I choose not to eat like Pasta rice potatoes but I can if I want, them 3 things are the only things so far I found I have a nasty reaction too. -
What will I REALLY need post op?
sassypants replied to Bluesea71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I actually used for the first 2 weeks were… 2 thermoses 1 for decaf tea one for Soup. Ready made juice Protein shots I picked up at a health food shop and mixed half with Water to sip on as actual shakes were not on my list yet. Lactose free milk for tea. That’s it for the first 2 weeks. Next stage was thicker soup so again nothing else still not allowed actual shakes yet. Next stage I already own measuring cups etc etc Did I use measuring cups and a scale? Nope! I ate such a little amount of food it literally was 3 teaspoons so no need to measure anything out. I also picked up post op a bunch of baby food containers from the £1 shop most measuring 1inch by 1 inch the others 2 inch by 2inch pretty much holds what you need and then some. Couple of packs of each 12 pots in one 10 in the other so pots galore. Do you need special spoons and stuff? No you don’t if you own a teaspoon use it if you don’t just use a normal spoon you don’t need baby utensils to know how much food your putting in your mouth you can clearly see how much. Some kind of blender is needed for that stage you don’t need to go out and buy some fancy thing or special just because extra appliance for it if you own some kinda of blender even a hand held food processor one it works perfectly even if your batching food for the freezer. When its time to drink Protein Shakes you will need at least 2 shakers sort of a one clean one in use/being washed thing. And maybe you want a water bottle I never got one personally water and I didn’t get on from the get go but you might want one to keep track of your water intake. You can get flavours for it if you want totally up to you. I personally do not think you need special flavours and Snacks and protein this that and the other I have atkins bars I have had for a year because I don’t eat them I did use them for on the go food quickly if I needed something but when you have about 20 just sitting there you realise it’s a waste and you shouldn’t have stocked up. Likewise for my 24 ready to drinks I give away as I wasn;t drinking them over my shakes so waste again. Don’t waste your time ordering in a load of protein powders your taste buds change after the op so you might end up giving them allllll away I would suggest ordering a bunch of different samples and going off them after the op to then see what suits your tastes and THEN buying what you require. That’s my honest opinion on what you need form my own experience and I give sooooooo much stuff away its like a couple of 100 pound so easily 3-400 dollars of stuff! The water thing is a lie I just remembered I bought a bubba keg for the water, water is not my friend so its never been used still with the tags on lol -
I think you need to read over your recent posts in both your accounts, its all about food portions and overeating. Concern about stretching your sleeve knowingly eating more than you are told to saying your going to overeater’s anonymous etc It doesn’t; effect any of us if you manipulate or twist what your told to do and not follow your rules it only effects you. Showing concern one day for what you are doing then explaining it away with why no its actually ok for you to knowingly overeat the next is going to cause issues for yourself. Again not any of us but you and you only.

sassypants replied to luckyknickers57's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I recall my gp referred me but I already had my surgeons name as he performed my gall bladder op and told me if I was ever considering it to get sent to him. Within 3 weeks I had a appointment and we went over it all the actual op happened over a year later -
That was me with room temp or cold stuff felt like little sharp stones hitting my stomach! Its common drink warm/hot drinks like tea etc Its why I now drink a hell of a lot of hot decaf tea because it was horrible!

Veterans: Do you follow the rules?
sassypants replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you ate like my normal thin best friend you would be shocked to hell that woman can eat everyone I know under the table one of her good days was having 3 big dinners in 4 hours at 3 different places lol Shes skinny never put on weight other than her pregnancies and is going back to normal real fast. We have a saying “you must have hollow legs” meaning you eat a buttload of food an never get fat so hollow legs is where you store it lol I was amused when I was 350lbs+ we would go to all you can eat places I would get the look of oh my god here we g fatty on a mission! When in actual fact I would be done 40mins before her lol If I ate like she eats I would be 1,000lbs in no time so that’s not the normal skinny I will go for lol -

Are you still experiencing hair loss after over a year post-op?? Not any more than the normal strand no. But I take it so my hair gets stronger and grows quicker! Plus it’s a good supplement to take it does jack for my nails because I bite them but yes my hair isn’t so baby fine any more and become real adults hair so I keep taking it! -
I'm pretty sure my sleeve just said " yea...uh, no...I don't think so!"
sassypants replied to inittothinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve doesn’t like cream in anything or eggs at all! Oddly today I had a pre made muller rice pot apple I ate it and what do you know 5 mins later I puked up JUST the creamy sauce not a speck of the rice or the apple just the creamy sauce lol It was like B please stop trying to make me hold that stuff I do not like it so get out of here! I only got 2 on Saturday as a little treat so guess who wont be eating the other one lol Nd yeah puke pots lol £1 plastic jug was my friend for a long long time still is here and there but mainly I manage to get to the bathroom or if there is a bin right beside me I puke into it lol The odd time I have been ill its snuck up on me with like a cup of tea that just comes up in a explosion. Don’t know about anyone else but general illness being sick is not like it was before it happens in a blink of a eye no mouth watering or pain to pre puking just blugh! Lucky its not like normal puke really lol -
Sleeve with reflux
sassypants replied to littlelaura's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it before and ibs before was told by my doc these reason is why he felt bypass wasn’t a good idea for me, which was fine by me as I never wanted that but one other doc tried to push it on me. I take 2 tabs for acid a day unless I forget then its one lol But I was on 1 a day before and drinking some kind of indigestion/acid sootier as and when I needed it which was A LOT. I would wake up before choking on it and sometimes I do now if I fall asleep close to eating or drinking and didn’t take my pill but its way way better. I also had my gallbladder out a couple of years before the op that’s when my acid increased dunno if the whole time I was dealing with it and all the bile/gall Fluid going into my stomach making me puke a lot started my issue but it has been ever since then! So its way less for me now and no ibs *touch wood* which is a good side effect of the op for me! -
I can’t remember my first party honestly still had mobility issues for a while after so I didn’t “go out” a lot. But even if it was just to visit family or whatever I took 1-2 shakes with me if nothing else to sip on throughout my time out. Everyone is soooooo used to me carrying them in my purse now its funny even at my nieces baby shower it was in a pub and we were told “no outside drinks” my best friend is breast feeding so point blank said she is bringing her big bottle of Water she needs it and my sister point blank said they can’t tell you, you can’t have that its medical so F them! lol my little sister will kill you if you try and tell me I can’t have my shake in a public place it cracks me up! when I visit my bff and the bubba I take a shake 1-2 bananas sometimes other little tupperware of food like from dinner the night before etc so I am always good to go if and when I need it. You can take a shake and some Soup or whatever your eating in little pots or see whats there if any of it can be nibbled on. Don’t feel pressure and overwhelmed by social situations because of the sleeve or being so close out, your gonna have to bite the bullet at some point might as well do it now! Its not gonna be half as bad as you think maybe a few questions and how are yous over and over again from people who know and are interested but again also better to get that out the way now chill and have a good time with your friends!

Incredible shrinking legs
sassypants replied to jujube's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went legs boobs face back butt legs belly back face legs face belly face- not really sure where the loses are going from now as I haven’t noticed whats smaller so maybe a little all over maybe more belly I don’t know lol I was a major apple allllllllllll belly boobs back smaller legs only towards the end did I have a bit of a butt I think I had very little place to keep gaining so my thighs and butt seemed to gain more towards the end for me. It’s a little funny because if your legs are not very big to begin with suddenly the weight going form them makes the upper body look so much bigger! Kind of like a fun house mirror effect! -
Having concerns...
sassypants replied to kellysnyder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I had major mobility problems due to weight back hip and knee problems so other than wandering around in hospital out of boredom and sitting down every couple of mins I didn’t do very much. Due to other issues I was dealing with and treatments after the op I wasn’t cleared to actually exercise other than walking up and down my own stairs till about 8 months out. I don’t know if it will cause you more pain but I do know your cast is off that’s better than it being on and means you’re on the road to recovery for being on the move.
