    Sleep Apnea...question

You are like ugh hate this to start with but when your used to it the quality of sleep is a million times better than without it that’s a major fact! I would stop breathing and sit up then fall asleep instantly sitting up then wake up throw myself back and start all over again. Not to mention being like a narcoleptic and just falling asleep all the time at my desk in the middle of typing or something and bam I am asleep, or having a conversation! No joke I would be talking to someone and just go to sleep couldn’t stop myself from doing it either I was so bad. Now I sleep fine like I did before no finny stuff no headaches no fuzzy head nothing just like before and its frigging great!
  2. Have you tried making your own Soup? Its easy to do if you don;t know and this is how grab chicken a whole one or thighs legs breast whatever you want boil up in Water onions and leeks you can throw in vegetable stock cubes or powder/granules for flavour leave that to simmer for a few hours. Then drain the stock into a pot/bowl remove all the chicken flesh and throw in the stock so its skin and bone free you can sort out the onion and leeks and throw them in chop up veg any you want throw them in bring to boil them simmer for a few more hours and you have soup. Now you can just drink the broth if you're on that stage or ladle it into the blender and whiz it up to make a thick soup adding more or less of the broth to make it thinner/thicker. That way there is no added crap except the veggie cubes/powder/granules its got Protein form the chicken it taste miles better and you have loads of it to either potion off and freeze or last you a couple of days and heat as required. added in if you have chicken and veg left over you can portion it up and freeze for the next stage again blending or keep for more solid stage not blending

    Sleep Apnea...question

For me I had my machine for a little over a year on the highest setting my doc told me I was one of the worst people he had seen in 4 years I stopped breathing every 60seconds. I had to have the machine and be used to it for at least 3 months before the op so I was fine by the time mine rolled around I had to take it in with me and have my doc make note of it so he could reinforce the line with sutures so the air pressure didn’t stretch or blow anything. I was told to hold off using it for as long as possible so in hospital I didn’t used it for the 3 days or the next 7 days at home when I did try it I hated it though I was more than used to sleeping with it for some reason I just hated it, it felt high and just not good. I tried it one more time a month and half out and same thing I slept far far worse than without it and not like before haven’t used it since it feels to high and like I can’t breath now. I was told by the chest hospital who deals with it 3-6 months out of the op I could be completely off using it anyway. I developed it when I hit 400lbs a lot of boob weight and neck weight come in to play at that weight I am at 323lbs now and the boobs are deflating fast so I think mine is gone.

    Ok, I'm Freaking Out!

I was completely fine till the actual day and I was last on the list! I actually was in gown and everything waiting in pre op and thought about going home and not doing it I was hit so bad with nerves lol My mum came back for an hour and I talked about legging it home. I didn’t though I just went to sleep I found it also hurt far less after than my keyhole gall bladder removal. It’s a big deal its normal to feel the nerves and have second thoughts and stuff don’t let the feelings overwhelm you and go through the feelings don’t bottle them it will help to feel better about it.

    Newbi

Hey newbi here! So I was sleeved on the 15th of may so I am a few weeks out and learning to deal with this! Personally I haven’t had a great time I have water nausea which makes it hard to get fluids, meant to have moved on now to trying “normal” food hard hard time with that, not overeating at all just can’t handle most real food. Some fish soup and some fruit is my diet while a little boring and i think my taste buds died oh like 10 weeks ago the pre op diet killed them lol Pains not been a issue for me never really was warm drinks like decafe tea is a godsend and icepoles lol Out of interest what do people do for protein when you can’t really eat much no red meat at all agrees with me, and I really do not like milkshakes plus I am lactose intolerant I do make them but its like ewwww coz I am not a fan of them! All in all other than not being able to do too much “normal” food mine has gone pretty good so far and I decided to stop lurking and join up so HI lol

    Protein Bars

i’m not a shake person so its hard to take just interested in how you make yours? For me I got sample packs of PhD I only use 150ml of milk for 1 and half scoops of powder so it’s a small thick shake. I throw the milk in the blender and the powder whiz that up for a good 3mins then toss in a couple of ice cubes and whiz its up for another 3-5mins and pour over some more ice. That consistency is more along the lines of melted ice cream than shake and I can pretty much manage drinking it. The flavours I have are chocolate orange with normal milk and chocolate cookie with hazelnut milk. They have all kinds of flavours vanilla chocolate mint white chocolate etc and do a new diet kind with green tea in it and less calories my choc orange is diet. I can’t stand a unblended shake or just Water that’s disgusting to me and putting it in a shaker and shaking is not good enough it’s blended or no go. I have tried about 5 Protein Bars they are super sweet and odd tasting to me not tried any oat ones but so far they are not for me!
  9. I don’t know what exactly you were told but for me I had a choice of 3 pre op diets and once you start one your not to switch mix n match or change. The options were slimfast, milk or food. For me I did milk as the slifast was the premade bottles only and I wasn’t spending close to £100 on them when I can spend £12 on milk it was easy and milk fills you up. Sadly for me I didn’t know about the lactose intolerance well I knew cheese hurt me a few hours after I ate it but I didn’t drink milk or shakes everrrrrrr so I didn’t know how bad it was so after a week of milk I was super sick and in pain and told to immediately stop and switch to food. You should make sure your only eating or drinking what you’re allowed too.

    Lactose Intolerant

I am lactose intolerant was before and still am after I use semi skimmed lactose free milk and also alpro hazelnut milk. Its actually made from hazelnuts and water which is good in say my chocolate cookie shake. Look up and see if you can get lactose free stuff some of it taste bland like the cheese but I am in the uk maybe you will have better luck. I tried other things like soy and stuff but honestly I hated milk/milkshakes/hot chocolate before the op anyway so the fact I have to drink shakes everyday now is hard work I hate them! Good luck it’s a bit of a pain some medication they suggest after you can’t take if your lactose intolerant and the stuff suggested to eat is like nope no no no like the cheese lol

    Cant Stop Crying Any Help?

The crying part I get all these hormones flooding my body to start with was beyond crazy! I was laughing at something and it turned to crying actual sobbing for no reason I just switched to deeply sad sobbing 10mins later fine! Its crazy the ups and downs that you go through at first and I am still in that stage just less extremes of the downs and tears. Again I personally don’t track weight they told me not to anyway but its never been my thing, besides home scales don’t go up high enough for my weight to do that anyway! On the 30th of the month I take measurements and pictures for my own update. The last time I was weighed was like the 17th of june at the doctors and I have no clue to date what my weight is. I am not working out yet I have a knee problem and back problem can’t take anything for it yet so I was told to just walk around my house as much as I can and lift weights, I have 2.5kg hand weights I do everyday for my arms. It doesn’t say where your located but if your in the uk you should have had them call you about your free gym membership by now, I got my call today that I am ok to start working out and can book my assessment at the gym any time. I am really very new to this and having a lot of issues with trying to eat and even drink right now so I am no help on the food intake sorry. I think it’s the best thing ever said to be by my nurse which is do not compare yourself to anyone else during this because you are a individual and what works them may not work for you. It is hard with the emotions and the expectations from ourselves and the people around us who know it sometimes feels like everything is smothering us and you want to scream! It is a big deal so its ok to have high or charged emotions about it. Hope you work it out hun and feel better soon!

"so How Much Weight Have You Lost?" Rant

i tell people I don’t really care and thankfully no one has said how much have you lost my mum asked a few times do you feel different within yourself after a month and I answered. Friends who still are yet to see me thought I was coming out skinny I worked out why when you tell them you’re having more than half your stomach cut off and thrown away they think outer belly, so I switched to saying my inner stomach not outer belly lol For the first month I wouldn’t put on jeans or anything I wore sweatpants and pjs because I didn’t want to not fit in a smaller size, but it felt good to feel what I was wearing becoming looser and waistband droopy thank heavens for draw strings lol I persoanally don’t have scales in my house to weigh myself I do take measurements on the 30th of the month because that’s when I first got round to taking them. Other than the hospital or 1 doctor visit weighing me I don’t have a clue. I don’t honestly have a goal weight either they asked me a couple of times and I said I have no idea, I still don’t. To date I am not even sure how much I have lost because the hospital cancelled this months appointment and pushed next months from the start to the end of the month so I only know what I have lost pre op till the 17th of june when the doc weighed me and that was 66lbs its more now but I wont know exactly till the 29th of next month. I am just glad I am not hounded for what I weigh now over and over it would make my hormone flooded body snap on someone lol

    Wasted Food?

Has anyone else found they have a lot of wasted food? Not like MASSIVE amounts but because I can eat such a little amount right now I end up throwing things out. Like I can do some fish so thinking I was smart I got the handy tinned ones (well my mum picked them up hehe) not realizing how big a tin of kippers was I wasted 1 and half whole kippers because I couldn’t eat enough or keep it long enough to have. Some stuff I can manage can’t be frozen or I have a bad day and puke absolutely everything I try up so by the time I am feeling ok again its iffy or off and i have to chuck it out. What do other people do to help with this? I mean I have about 30 tiny little plastic pots that has things in it from bits of deli chicken to stewed fruit I made but I still end up wasting stuff which bugs me badly, not the fact I can’t eat it but it’s a expense and I hate paying for things I chuck half away of then rebuy to do the exact same thing!

    Newbi

i searched for a couple of hours any uk places that seemed to sell it said out of stock, then I read they don’t import to the uk any more so I e-mailed the company for uk stockiest or where I could get it from. They would be a lot easier to drink than forcing myself to drink a shake!

    Wasted Food?

I personally haven’t gone to eat out yet, I never ate out much to start with before the op I had bad ibs without too many details it was an unpleasant time to go eat out so I got out of the habit a long time ago. The cheese thing could work I really do like cheese and ate it once in a while and never linked the pain I would feel a couple of hours later as lactose intolerance but the pre op diet of just milk which I never drank ever really kicked up the lactose intolerance so bad I was taken off the milk diet after a week and checked for a appendicitis because I was in so much pain like mum was telling me for 2 days even if its 3am you want to go to ER I will take you. So now dairy is like being punched in the gut so I limit the cheese though I do like it lol You can get a block and soft lactose free cheese but its kinda flavourless. I’m on a very tight income so waste annoys me I can’t section things off small enough it seems I have 1inch x 1inch square pots and even that can’t be eaten in time sometimes. But I am still in the early stages and not eating a heck of a lot its just mad seeing s many little pots in the freezer kinda running out of room lol I think waste has always annoyed be if I am honest that comes from my mother who always moans about wasted food lol

    Wasted Food?

Oh I don’t mean like I do a household shop and I toss half of it I mean things like say cream cheese I buy a pack of cream cheese for and over half of it has to be tossed out, or I buy good yogurts low cal/fat/sugar but it only comes in like a pint pot so over half of it gets thrown out that kind of thing. Although my mother when she makes dinner and tries to give me some has no idea of what I am saying when I say 2 bits of the chicken instead of 2 cubes of chicken I get a bowl full with veg and I look at her and say you need to get it in your head I can’t eat that much food your wasting it! Because I am lactose intolerant no one else but me will eat that cheese so that’s always getting thrown out, I just find a lot of waste even in the small amounts I am personally throwing out just wondered if anyone had ideas I haven’t thought of to curb this.

Eggs are so not my friend! Also I tried cottage cheese even though I think its rank that was not fun either 2 teaspoons and up it come so I tossed that idea lol Not tried peanut butter (I sound like a moaner now lol) don’t really like peanut butter it’s the whole stuck to my mouth dry thing when I can’t drink at the same time I am putting off trying to eat that! I have read loads of threads and I am a bit jealous some people can eat certain things, I’ve always been a veg first person now to switch to protein first person is really hard when that’s all I can eat and I can’t handle it well! I did find seafood sticks go down really well discovered that yesterday so I am happy about that but again its fish, fish seems to be easy. Thanks for the welcome and in put btw!

i don’t think we have chicken in a can in the uk lol i can eat some chicken as long as its not dry i never liked dry food before always drank when i ate so not being able to is like arrggghh. I know I am no where near eating enough but I physically can’t do it I think its going well then blughhhh up it comes. What annoys me too is you can be fine for 3 days like muesli for breakfast for 3 days day 4 puke after I eat it. That’s so annoying to me because it puts me off trying to eat that food again. Eggs are like I am trying to turn my body inside out tried them twice with a gap only get 2 teaspoons of the white in and its like I am possessed and trying to rid myself of a demon lol I just thank god I am not one of the people with head or actual hunger pains I never was like that before but I think it would be worse if I felt I was hungry and found food hard!
