Sometimes I don’t; get this site! Instead of jumping on people for perceived bad choices that they never even had why not suggest a healthy alternative and save said person from making a bad choice? I was one of the people who suggested a healthy milkshake alternative hardly anyone does this its instant BAD POSTER BAD NO BAD! Its happened before people have given a healthy option the Pasta thread is one mac n cheese another. How to make things you liked before but healthy now is far more constructive so why oh why is it an instant NO BAD! When there is no need to go there? Then the personal insults you have no idea what other things are going on in a person’s life what if they are sideburns but that’s a side effect to say pocs? It’s so crappy and rude to make personal insults on people who do not agree with you. Hey I have pocs and I have a tash and beard doesn’t make me a man but catch me on the right day and I am the bearded lady dose this mean you have the right to be rude to me and insult me for a medical condition? No it does not! No fat insults on this forum but everything else is up for grabs huh? btw i drink a shake every day it happens to be my Protein shake.

Company In The Hospital?
sassypants replied to scorpion509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mum took me in as I had to be there at 9am we all did everyone having surgery that day we all get assigned a bed and given gowns and what not and change then its all the pre op people coming to speak to you and you go down when its your time. For me I was last on the list it was like 7pm I went down. So for me mum stayed till I changed and saw some people told when my time slot was and she left taking everything with her I don’t like to leave anything for them to take and be with me after. Did that with my gall bladder op my case and bag never got to my bed till 3 hours after I was on ward so this time she took everything. I know I wasn’t awake a lot in recovery it was too hot and making me drowsy mum sat outside recovery for about a hour and half they were not letting anyone come into recovery so she saw me when they finally wheeled my bed out to the ward she followed I was high on pain beds it was around 11 maybe 11:30pm I made her help me change into my clothes not the hospital gown I went loo to pee got back in bed said night and she was off. So no point in spending the whole day there. She never spent the whole day there for my gall bladder op either I know it’s not my husband or partner but it works out the same they just sit and wait if they are close enough we live about 30misn away from the hospital in a car they can ring and let you know your out they still don’t let people in recovery so they have to wait till your on ward to come see you and only if its visiting time. -
if you let him be how he is for this long what makes you think he will change? Its like cooking and cleaning all day everyday for say 2 years then one day saying oh by the way hun I am no longer cooking or cleaning that’s your job. Its not how you have worked things out so to expect sudden changes is never gonna happen. How you were spoken to isn’t right but you kinda created a rod for your own back by letting him do only 2 weeks of super dad before you took over and assumed all responsibility for child rearing. I am not going to tell anyone how to bring up their children but you can’t be one way for 18 months and now want change overnight. I get it was a simple request but from your husbands point of view he doesn’t do that stuff you do and now he must all of a sudden it’s a shock to his system.

Cheating On Liquid Diet
sassypants replied to The New Tasha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here you have a choice of 3 pre op diets: 5 ready to drink slimfast 5 bottles a day and 1 salty drink and Water. Or 4pints of semi skimmed milk a day plus a salty drink and water. Or A food diet they give you the what you eat for each meal like 2 lots of Protein no carbs and fruit/veg 2 lots of carbs 1 protein 1 veg etc and list the amounts your allowed and whats in each section like 8 cherry tomatoes is one portion on the fruit/veg section. I picked milk being that it to me was the easiest to do and cheapest, well as I don’t drink milk everrrrrrrr don’t do milkshakes hot chocolate hardy drank one cup of tea in 3 months didn’t do much dairy I didn’t know I was actually lactose intolerant so as the days went by and I kept on doing 4 pints of milk a day I was getting sicker and sicker and in more and more pain till after 5 days my mum kept telling me if you want to go to ER I will take you she thought it was a appendicitis I knew it wasn’t that low it actually felt like gallbladder pains but mine was removed years ago lol So when I spoke to them day 6 told them whats going on I was told to stop drinking milk right away and switch to the food as I am lactose intolerant and all that will do if I keep on is make me sick and could jeopardise the op because there is not telling what is going on inside me with me drinking the milk. So yeah that’s our choices in the uk and let me tell you food is soooooooo much easier to do I didn’t mind the milk I never felt hungry but its boring compared to the food and you feel normal on the food too lol -
I do hazelnut milk for mine

Why would you even allow yourself to put 8oz in a bowl or on a plate and eat it? You should have been told 4oz max so to double it and just keep going is doing yourself no good. Some people do infact have bigger pouches some smaller if your stomach is bigger pre op they don’t take extra away they still only take the same amount away which means some people do have up to a 10oz holding stomach after. This doesn’t mean you eat 10oz of food each time your on a diet even with the sleeve you don’t eat till your full/puking/in pain/stuffed you eat the amount your told to eat. You’re also told to slowly eat 4oz over 30-45mins so 8oz in 15mins is far too quickly your not giving your body time to register your eating and possibly are full and to stop. If after eating your advised portion you still feel your not full wait 30mins and drink some water/juice etc to help fill you up. The sleeve isn’t a magic wand it won’t suddenly stop you craving things you used to crave it won’t let you put anything in your body in any amount and just vaporise it and you loose weight you have to be responsible with it and follow the rules you are given to have the sleeve work at its best.

Cheating On Liquid Diet
sassypants replied to The New Tasha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first thing I think most of us can eat is seafood fish was my first ok I can eat that and it doesn’t hurt/make me sick food. Prawns are a little denser so you might have the heavy fuller feeling with them than fish I did but it’s not painful. Honestly DO NOT rush trying to eat take it from me as someone who had to back track just go slow and don’t rush the stages. I didn’t rush, I did exactly as I was told and still needed more time to adjust to my new stomach so skipping or rushing ahead isn’t worth it. -
Cheating On Liquid Diet
sassypants replied to The New Tasha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I am on normal food, well what I can eat lol It was a little hard had to back track and go back a few stages and work my way forward again to solid food as I was being sick a lot and I don’t try to eat 4oz at a time because I can’t so I do 1oz at a time which was part of the reason I was being sick its just too much food for me to eat and was taking too long so to eat so I was scaled back. They are fine with that my blood work is fine for vitamins and such protein is still a little low my weight hasn’t stalled nor am I drastically loosing weight so they are ok with how much I eat a day. I think the pre op diet is harder simply because you know you can still eat everything your not meant to with no issues after you don’t try or hardly in some cases because the simple things like eggs or red meat is such a ordeal (for me anyway) its not even worth trying to cheat! -

You were allowed carrots?! First week of mien was milk milk and more milk 4pints a day I rang them and asked if I could eat a couple of sticks of cucumber I got told NO! I badly wanted something crunchy I was craving apples true fully but wasn’t allowed it lol I cheated in my first week but I was also really sick on the milk diet in the end so bad infact I was taken off the milk diet and switched to a food diet which was fine my second week I was good and never strayed from my diet. -
i had ready brek in my soft stage with more milk to make it less paste like and more runny I would put in a tablespoon of protein powder too. Its pretty much powdered oat flakes it was on my list of what you can have examples, now I just have cheerio’s.

I have had some stewed fruit I made in the pureed stages which were a mix of things like peaches, pears, gooseberries, apple and blackberries. I have tried normal pears no skin one type made me sick every time I tried to eat another was fine. I eat nectarines 1 a day while they are in season no skin. Just this past week tried banana that was fine. Had blueberries, strawberries, blackberries spitting out the middle part and raspberries. had a little bit of pineapple with no issue. Tried kiwis and puked haven’t tried that again.

Losing Hair... Chop It All Off?
sassypants replied to kmbrlycool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also know the lighter your hair the thinner it will look not suggesting going black or anything but the lighter it is the thinner it looks. My friend has baby blonde hair and its fine I was with her once for a haircut and her hair dresser was talking about her hair saying its not as thin as it looks its just so light the blonde makes it appear thinner because of how much easier light penetrates the hair So maybe go for low lights not high lights to give it more definition. -
I don’t mind personally it’s a affection thing around other people. Either way guy on girls lap girl on guys lap to me its just affection or there are no seats and you want to sit down lol

6 Wk Check Up And At Risk For Stretching My Sleeve
sassypants replied to lowe1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i eat using a teaspoon so its smaller mouthfuls to stat with and chew the crap out of it because I puked a lot I still can’t eat 4oz in one go so I do 4 teaspoons in a 20 min or so sitting and stop. They know can’t eat 4oz of food in a sitting so just from me not trying this much food any more and knowing I can do 1-1 ½ oz at a time I got it down where i know exactly how much I can eat in one go with no puke from it being too much/too fast/not chewed enough. -

It's A Ds For Me!
sassypants replied to andreagoeldner's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Can I ask what made you decide to get the DS? I ask because as I understand it that’s for people like 500lbs and over who need 2 stages for weight loss even here in the uk it’s the one used for really big people who need one stage of the op to get them low enough for the other stage to get down to what is considered a “normal” weight. It’s generally done in 2 stages because its for the heavier people I didn’t think it was meant to be done together. I don’t want to appear as a know it all (I’m not at all) or condescending or anything just interested in why you settled on that one and not just bypass or sleeve as you fall in the weight ranking for those over the DS as far as my understanding of the DS goes. Like I was told by one consultant that they do bypass on people because they don’t want to have to redo wls in 2 or 3 years because the patient didn’t loose enough weight or put weight on, that’s when she was trying to talk me into bypass thankfully I never saw her again and my consultant has operated on me before and knows me better and agreed I was perfectly fine for the sleeve. -
Will It Be Easy To Hurt Myself?
sassypants replied to mom2five's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You’re told not to lift more than 2lbs for 2 weeks anyway, your not cleared to work out other than walking for a few weeks and I was told if I go out if I am knocked by someone too hard on my side/front I could damage my stomach. I wasn’t allowed to go swimming till after 4 weeks out on the condition that I was careful and if I was knocked to make sure I was checked out. Having said that I slept on my front after 10 days with a pillow for support but I did heed the lifting and working out no no’s till I was told it was ok. I didn’t take medication much for pain when I got home what they give me was disgusting so they switched me to kids calpol which is like liquid pain meds/fever/cold medicine and its super sweet and thick so I just give up the pain meds and dealt with it.
