Now I Am Lactose Intolerent
sassypants replied to mufasas-mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk sugar is what you’re intolerant to right now so things made with that will effect you. I am lactose intolerant you can get a bunch of lactose free stuff, cheese milk yogurt even ice cream not that I have tried that but you can get it. For my shakes I either use lactose free semi skimmed milk or alpro hazelnut milk. -
Bring On The Lactose Intolerance!
sassypants replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You said you don’t but you also say your joking……kinda which means you half mean it so you do half wish it. That was also my point your saying you hope you don’t crave things and feel like you are depriving your self, it’s not the op that does that the sleeve really doesn’t control cravings and what you want to eat. Yes taste buds can change yes what the sleeve tolerates at the start is different but if you read further out people they can pretty much eat anything. Only you can control your cravings its mental you can’t cross your fingers and hope the seelve cures you of that because it won’t. I want Chinese food every time I go swimming no idea why never want it any other time just right near the end of my swimming session suddenly I want chow mien and friend rice, don’t get it not even a bite but I crave it, not my stomach my head. The sleeve controls portion size it doesn’t control what you put in it or how often so just think about that. You can have a taste of things you crave if you can stop at a taste so you don’t need to deprive yourself of anything if you don’t wish too. Just don’t get into the mindset that the sleeve is magic and will cure any issues you may have with food or that it magically teleports junk food or fatty food out of you if you choose to eat it because it won’t. -
Bring On The Lactose Intolerance!
sassypants replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You really shouldn’t wish all the problems on yourself, honestly I think you wish that so you don’t have to take control. Its not that YOU want to be able to say no thank you I will not eat/drink/try that you want to try it and have a adverse reaction to it so it’s out of your control and if you do happen to eat ice cream you will be sick and it won’t stay in your system. As someone who is lactose intolerant both pre op and post op I can tell ya that your not always sick when you have that, I get extreme pain so I can eat or drink it if I want but its extremely painful if I do unless its lactose free. The sleeve is a tool not the magic switch it really wont stop you eating or drinking things you shouldn’t you may react to it for a while but it won’t stop you, YOU have to stop you and if you don’t and keep on eating or drinking things you shouldn’t to test it or because you puke it out 5mins later you won’t reach goal and to be frank this I would never normally say to anyone but I think you need to think hard about this, if you keep on eating and drinking what you shouldn’t and hope your sick getting weight loss surgery is a waste of time. In the normal non op world eating something and puking it out is an eating disorder don’t have your sleeve be the tool to a eating disorder. -
Lsd Protein Shake Ideas?
sassypants replied to klperry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i guess you get liqiud LSD and add it to your shake thats what i call a Protein high!...trippy! come on i wasn;t the only one to giggle over that! lol -
i had to backtrack food was just painful puking pain it was a mess! I had soup for a week then worked forward a week of soup and pureed food then another of pureed food then a mix of puree and more solid food till I was back on solids. Some things I still can’t eat without ouch oh that’s not good! Feeling but its becoming more and more normal with every week and less of a pain in the butt. So for me yes its rough and frustrating for a while maybe longer than a lot of people but yep it does get a lot better and more “normal”

Getting Too Much Protein?
sassypants replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to try and get 100g of protein a day, they said when I first start out I might only be able to get 60g but up it as my food stages change and get 100g a day. If your not sure of anything always check with your doctor so you’re doing the right thing. Some people only get 60g a day some people have between 90-120g a day maybe cut your shake in half one scoop if you do 2 and cut back a bit on the shakes so your not going over 100g -
You could always try some flat coke. I will say for me the memory of how good and refreshing my cherry coke or coke zero was is far better than the tastes of it I had after the op. It was not the same after the op, kind of a “oh not all that exciting or good at all really” I still like the memory of it better than the reality the memory is its warm/I am thirsty ohh how nice would an ice cold coke be right now! Mmmmm that would be good down a whole glass no worries! Reality is the few sips of flat crap is rubbish and too sweet tasting.

I Need Your Input Please!
sassypants replied to missdietcoke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don’t think you should pad your issues with other peoples they will know from your medical records what you have brought up with your gp. I am uk here too sleeved in may did all this they inspect your records and assign what is weight related so a cold no but back pain or joint pain yes if you didn’t knock it. My surgeon actually approached me about it like 5 years ago when eh was doing my gall bladder op he was the only person willing to do the op because of my size so during the consultation about it he asked me if I wanted wls and to think about it and if I did then have my gp refer me to him to talk about it. I didn’t at the time but inbetween them years a lot happened with health issues not all related to weight but the things like sleep apnoea and loosing mobility because I was bigger and it wasn’t making my body happy or mobile just all added up to get a letter sent off and the ball rolling. Just go off your own issues and what you feel is because of or hindered due to your weight its better than way they treat YOU then and give YOU the best advice for you. -

sassypants replied to Linda 66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one of the few people who doesn’t have a problem (yet) with B vitamins I was on the same dose as you of a B complex but I had to take 2 a day pre op now post op I haven’t taken a single B vitamin or B complex pill yet and my levels are totally normal. -
Sugar Free Vs No Sugar Added
sassypants replied to erinsdsu's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I personally wouldn’t buy baby food baby products have sugar in them follow on milk has so much sugar in it its really bad! Make your own puree its easy you just blend dinner with like gravy or milk or whatever. Blended food with sauce/fluid makes fine puree and you know what’s in it no extra E numbers or additives or colourings not alot of salt that kind of thing plus you get way more food to section up and store. Just go to a dollar store and pick up a bunch of baby food containers I have like 40 of them that cost me about £6 all sorts of sizes and they are perfect for either 1/2/3 portion sizes depending on what ones I use and what the food was I was putting in them. -
i think we all go through that I did after 2 weeks I swilled coke in my mouth as mad as it sound I was over it my sister just popped a can I said give it to me and fizzed it up in my mouth it was like my mouth came aliveeeeee!!!!!!

Sugar Free Vs No Sugar Added
sassypants replied to erinsdsu's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would say either are ok it depends if you want artificial sweeteners or not. If its juice I would go for no added and don’t forget to mix it half and half with water, juice is a little strong on acid that close out to drink straight so you dilute it with water. I still mix juice and water lol currently I am on white grape and peach juice I mix with peach and nectarine water lol -
Sugar Free Vs No Sugar Added
sassypants replied to erinsdsu's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just to add to that sugar free is generally no sugar at all but artificial sweeteners instead to make it sweet, and yeah no added is they don’t add extra sugar to the drink to make it sweeter its just whats in there naturally from like fruits or milk sugars etc. Natural stuff is better for you than 10 tablespoons of white sugar put in it to make it sweeter lol -
Drinking a ton of water detoxes you anyway not looked at the wraps but if its just binding you and you detox by drinking only water then it’s the water flushing your system I would assume.

I think the Vitamin thing is down to you and your body and food. Like for me pre op with my ibs I was on:- B complex really high dose 2 a day Calcium Magnesium Zinc D3 Folic acid Rutin which is a Protein supplement Iron My levels for everything were constantly low constantly asked if I was taking them and I did twice a day every day plus good food lots of fruit veg everything. In contrast now ibs seems to have gone and all I take is a multi vitamin once a day and my calcium and D3 effervescent combo. And of course Protein shake. All my levels bar my protein are high, normal levels but my iron is higher than normal. I think once you pass the stage where you’re relearning how to eat food and introducing food slowly to your new stomach you can make sure you eat well and balanced to get all you need right at the start its just broth and Soup and not really much food so some supplements do help with healing and keeping your levels where they should be.

Also a uk person and I get the general overview that the us and uk are very different in terms of this op. For one they jump through a lot of hoops for the op for insurance and what not were we (or at least I didn’t) pay for it so it’s not so hardcore in terms of the don’ts. I was never told to calorie count to make sure I got only this amount or that amount of anything. I was told protein first then if I have room other stuff was never told anything is off limits but of course use my common sense. For me I wasn’t a overeater/emotional eater so I don’t miss or have them triggers with food and I was honest when asked about my daily intake which pretty much consisted of me drinking coke zero and smoking all day then eating dinner maybe something like a sandwich around 2am. Which of course isn’t ideal but I would forget the fizzy and smoking curbed hunger and with my ibs I got to the stage I just didn’t want to eat because of my reaction to everyyyyyyyyyything. I eat well I did before and I do not not pre packaged not ready meals we cook from scratch yes I had takeaways once a week but my house wasn’t filled with junk I didn’t even have chips or candy every day rarely once a week so my relationship with food isn’t a issue for me. I dunno just reading a lot of posts its like because you have to go through insurance they like to scaremonger you and think well if you’re having this op might as well never drink/smoke/be unhealthy again! So drum a lot of stuff in your head to concern you. If you know you have food issues and a bite or taste of something won’t; stop at that then good for you that you know this about yourself and show restraint and control, I honestly thought I would be getting coke and making it flat to drink it but I don’t I have had a bit barely half a can in total from the op forward, I have a can of cherry coke sitting in the fridge I think its been in there 2 weeks maybe 3 took a sip when I opened it and its never been touched since. Anyway I dunno just saying it seems very different to me in the uk and what I am told and what I should do to people in the us, its less stressful that’s for sure! lol

Today Was The Day.....that I Threw Up!
sassypants replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn’t matter how much you try to avoid it sometimes its not over eating or being too fast sometimes the food just doesn’t sit well and wants out asap! Day 2 in hospital I was like foamy water sick when they give me a little cup to drink I had barely taken a couple of sips and blugh water isn’t my friend still to this day but day 2 helllllll nahhhh! I have a plastic jug in my room incase I puke when I am in there lol This floor and the ground floor have bathrooms 3rd floor where my room is nope so the big plastic jug comes in handy if you drink too much or what have you. -

sassypants replied to stalissa01's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

I Am About To Give Up On My Surgery And School:(
sassypants replied to mzeo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Would it be spank the child? Coz that was my first thought! Difference between beating and spanking a child and I am all for spankings regardless of what PC people think lol Naughty step my backside! Terrible two’s are called that for a reason its when a child is pushing boundaries and working out who they are but she’s your child you have to tell your mother what is and isn’t allowed and over spoiling her is not allowed your child your rules. Don’t give up on everything take one thing at a time if you need to focus on school ok do that your mum is there you already have issues and feel down over the parenting situation so deal with school and let your mum deal with your daughter. Then when Thursday been and gone deal with your child it will take a little persistence but you can correct how a child behaves. As for the eating break your food down instead of say 3 meals of 4oz plus 2 Snacks make it 6 meals of 2oz plus snacks then you can pick up food and eat it when you need to but your not going over anything in your allotted daily allowance and defeating yourself. -
