What to expect in a year?
sassypants replied to 2feelgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
we don't have thanksgiving in the uk but I can tell you this past Christmas i had a small slice of turkey a small brussle sprout and a small cube of roast potato and i was done. i could of maybe tried for more 30mins or so later we were all still at the table talking and eating but i didn;t feel like it and i was down one end far away from the door so if it was too much and i had to puke that's a lot of people to get by lol what you don't want is to get food anxiety or to feel the pressure around family events/parties or holidays you will learn how many forkfuls of what you can eat, what food is denser than others so you can't tolerate as much etc it all becomes second nature to you, you know your bodies signs for hey whoa full stop it gets a lot easier. -
why is tea or milk not allowed after sleeve.
sassypants replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its the decaf and lactose thing also a lot of people have sweet tea so they don't want you to ad sugar either of course. but like a lot of people I was given milky tea in hospital and I was lactose intolerant before the op too lol they don't even do decaf tea in hospital which is funny but yeah that's the reason behind it all switch to decaf and if you are lactose intolerant lactose free milk and your good. -
I'm another prune juice person my one time constipated time was a week of trying with all them things to shift it nothing worked not even the gel suppository not to be real frank and graphic a douche nadda I too donned the glove in the end as my next action would have been going to hospital it was that painful thankfully that worked but boy oh boy I felt like I passed a whole watermelon while a donkey kicked me for the next 3 days it hurt so bad to move from that ordeal lol that was NEVER happening to me again so I drank a glass of prune juice every day for the next few months after that I didn't go every day but I never had that problem again thank god!

I could use some advice!
sassypants replied to cd2851492's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a lot of trouble with the drinking which is our food source in the first few weeks too so don't help! I had the room temp cold Water problem the whole water nausea thing is horrible! I made 2 thermoses one with Soup in it another with tea (English tea not sweet tea and such) and would alternate between a couple of mouthfuls of soup or tea whenever I woke up and had a dry throat. I did all the food stages with a lot of pain and puking throughout went hospital a few times thought I popped my staples after a really hard puking session followed by bad pain I didn't but it felt like it! rang them a lot because I had issues they made me go all the way back to Clear liquids and work forward again because I was just still swollen and had a small sleeve pouch. some peoples internal swelling doesn't go down as quick as others this doesn't help with the statistical "where you should be at this stage" thing. didn;t have the open wound thing so can't help there from personal but it seems your getting that checked out at least. Fluid intake isn;t just water they say water water water to make sure your not drinking soda booze etc but Hot drinks like me with my tea which is decaf is fine its a fluid and will keep you hydrated and actually feels nice to your still healing swollen stomach. I was tired for months you had a major op its not just the outer body areas they went into thats bruised and swollen you have a lot of internal bruising and swelling from them poking around in there your body is taking as much time as it needs to rest and heal after such a ordeal. we also can't eat solid food or any where near as much food as we used too or even close to what a "normal" person would eat after surgery so it wipes us out a bit as our body isn;t taking nutrients from our food to help burn while healing so we are just running on pretty much empty and taking most of what we need from the stored fat cells. it can be really scary after the op not seem normal seem like no one else has or did have these issues and yours has gone horribly wrong and make you freak out, as long as you go and make sure your healing a lot of what your experiencing is normal. -
What to expect in a year?
sassypants replied to 2feelgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it really does depend on the person I am 2 years out this coming may and I still can't eat 4oz at once! you will also know when you put too much in because it comes right back out, some times with no warning just blugh and your running with your hand over your mouth lol the amount of times I have been drinking a cup of tea and projectile vomited over myself has become funny to me now. don't stress it or go by everyone else we are all different end up with different sleeve sizes in the end that's not because they took more or less away its all to do with how big your stomach is before surgery. if its bigger you are left with a bigger stomach sleeve if its smaller its smaller mine happened to be smaller and I haven't stretched it out. I go by my body not stats not others at the same stage as me etc just me myself and I it really is the best way to go. -
that's how mine started then the puking and the pain, then the pain increase to higher and higher and higher. it gets pretty bad never had a baby but to me it was like I was in labour or what I assume it feels like anyway plus puking. you just can't get a comfy pain reliving position when its kicking in a pain train press it lean on it pile pillows up and lay on them nothing! I dealt with mine for 5 years no doc would touch me too big till my wls doc said no problem he does wls so can do the gall bladder op no problem that's when I was first asked about wls and he told me if I ever wanted it to come back to him which is what I did a few years later. wouldn't wish that pain on anyone it sends you nuts!

What are you NOT doing (but supposed to)?
sassypants replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't drink much Water at allllllll but I had a room temp/cold water problem after my op felt like stones hitting my tummy so I drank warm water *ick in hospital and decaf tea at home so I drink A LOT of decaf tea still. exercise not nearly as much as I should at alllll again lol also I do tend to forget to eat middle of the day but I always make sure I drink a shake in the middle of the day because I noticed I do that. its kinda hard sometimes to remember to eat when you don't actually feel hungry ever! -

Is it possible to loose 170lbs with the sleeve?
sassypants replied to kristy26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes it is, had my op may 2012 I to date have lost 205lbs and counting, its a lot slower now but I have never stalled once and still haven’t stopped now just wayyyyy slower its more tiny tiny loses than big massive ones. I even lost weight over Christmas and I was naughty on more than one occasion! Honestly I am utterly crap at going to the gym too I got 2-3 days a week if I have time or can be bothered and I do 10mins of cardio and 30mins of weights to tone myself up all over. So really other than general walking in daily life I am far from hardcore gym bunny. The stats you are told seem impossible as a reality as your told a much lower percentage loss than you can active I know I was told I would lose a lot less than I have infact all my consultants are both shocked and pleased with me when I go in and say oh you still haven’t stopped losing weight yet?! For me honestly its diet the more things you add back into your diet as its only a little bit or once a week or a couple is what counts because that turns into more and more if you are not careful. I’m not completely crazy and never ever touch anything but healthy good for me things just always remember if I am not careful and I let a once in a while treat become once a week, once every few days, once a day I will undo everything I have worked for. -

I have no idea what I will look like thinner!
sassypants replied to Kiap82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i too was big my whole life from a very young age i had no clue what not big me would look like. not gonna lie its a total mind F to see the changes you will be you, big you then suddenly notice your smaller and you look alot- well i did anyway and just as your wrapping your head around a smaller you, you notice you have got smaller again! and round and round it goes- total mind trip to say the least. i have no idea if "this" (current av taken new years eve) will be final me as my face gets thinner all the time still (like my glasses fall of my face when i lean over thinner face yet again) its not even over yet either lol had my op in may of 2012 i still have my saggy skin still losing weight most recent weigh in was 2 weeks ago and although its slowing down i still haven;t stopped so there is still a different new me under the skin and whatever weight/fat will still go down. its a completely fascinating process though even if trippy and takes a while to catch up mentally with how you look your always behind for the first year at least but when it slows down its not as noticeable and less omg thats different!! -

Hey hey all! So question has anyone else experienced major dizzy spells? I was sleeved in may all was fine till last month and I started getting major dizzy spells even just sitting still not much moving major light headed dizzy spell like the feeling of being on a ship or swaying but all in your head, also some times when I walk like that’s major like a drunk on a ship. I told my consultant when I see them in august they sent me for blood tests but didn’t know why I was getting this. It settled down but the past 3 days has been like constant dizzy spells sitting standing walking across the room my head is spinning like crazyyyyyyyy! my blood work showed really low vitamin D and I was prescribe that but no clue why its kicked back in and other than going to hospital I have to wait till Wednesday to go see my gp. Anyone having this happen to them? Or anyone have experience with low blood pressure to give me an idea if that might be it? Not had my BP checked in months never had high but wondering if it could be low now and that’s causing it. Thanks peeps!

Realistic Monthly Goals For The First 6 Months
sassypants replied to Ready4success's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I go swimming once a week, other than walking around my house and I am currently redecorating I do nothing else but arm weights. I don’t calorie count, don’t carb count don’t weight myself even once a week so dividing my weight loss over 20 weeks then xing by 4 for months I am doing 25.6lbs a month. Don’t actually know my current weight so that could work out to more as I am smaller than when I last went hospital/docs and was weighted lol Not suggesting anyone do as I do but it works for me I started out a lot bigger also I think bigger peeps lose a lot faster to start. -
You won’t choke on food your throat isn’t being made smaller so you won’t choke if you eat too much you will puke but its not a choking kinda thing. Your not allowed to take pills for a very long time just last week (20 weeks out) I was told I can finally take pain killers in whole pill form. Its not like the lapband where it gets stuck there’s no obstruction or restriction like that with the sleeve you tummy is just smaller so if you overfill blugh puksville

Pregnancy And Sleeve
sassypants replied to Luckystar12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that the first 18months is a no go area for pregnancy because of all the potential problems birth defects and possible miscarriage as your body takes roughly a year to fully heal from any surgery. Also 18months out your in a no pain/mends/eating well stage to not have possible complications. We were also told that we have to be extra careful for the first 6 months after the op because most people are extremely fertile due to all the hormones being released. But this op isn’t a problem when its time because your not poorly nutritioned or doing the mal absorption thing you can eat balanced just fine its just smaller and you may have to increase how many times you eat in a day when pregnant to keep up with the baby needs. -
i didn;t have a drain so i wouldn;t worry
