I have been over weight since my mid 20's. In my late teens-early 20's I battled with keeping the weight down. After having children I had continued to grow in girth. I began my journey in 2010 weight was 298 at 5'3"! I had the LAP-BAND performed in May 2010. In the beginning I felt awesome and the weight was just falling off. 6 mos post-op I started to develop an uncomfortable and painful experience with the fills which prevented me from swallowing and caused vomiting. I then had fluid removed from the band and did not return for more fills out of fear. I did continue to lose weight but it was because I could not eat very much at all. (That is the point right) I December 2011 I started to get that feeling again. This progressed into vomiting anything I eat. I then altered my eating habits to Pudding, ice cream, mashed potatoes and anything else soft. Do you recognize the 2 issues with this type of eating and one important step I omitted? High in everything bad for you foods and no protein tracking and I did not call my DR to report issues. See my DR recommended the Gastric Sleeve not the band so I was ashamed and scared to return to inform him he was right. Pride is an awful thing!! From December to May I had gone from 180 is to 210. I contacted Dr. Kim and the meeting was not as horrible as I had expected. I apologized for not trusting him and his staff and we made a commitment to each other to fix my problems. Now I say "with each other" because it takes both of us to be committed in order for the optimum results to be seen. Lessons me learning and praying for daily. My surgery will be in September and I will undergo a REVISION!!! I am starting my PRE-OP diet tracking now.
