Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hello November sleevers!! as some of you know I was sleeved Monday. was released Thursday!y. The surgery was textbook. I woke in recovery in some pain, more discomfort than anything else. Very sore. They gave me some diludid. I woke up in my room that night with vicious dry mouth. Every time I tried to move it was so uncomfortable. For a brief moment laying in my bed a couple hours after surgery I asked "why did I do this" Then a wonderful nurse realized I was uncomfortable. She got me a cold sponge lolly pop to use on my lips and tongue. That, mixed with painkillers I received I began to change my tune :-) I woke up the day after surgery feeling better. Went for the leak test and passed. I was so happy bout that. Then they removed my catheter (guys worst nightmare) After said catheter was removed life got a whole lot better. Because I passed my leak test I was able to have water and diet juice or decaf coffee and tea. Even ate some yogurt. I was feeling much better at this point. Still sore of course, I mean I just had major surgery. I tried to fight the pain meds and that was my biggest mistake. I don't want everyone to think I was in excruciating pain, it was more discomfort from the gas pains and Soreness from the incision sites and external drain. Side note : Dr Kim is a brilliant surgeon. I honestly believe she is at the top of her field . My incisions sites look like tiny scratches, they are so clean and are healing incredibly. I want to take another minute to acknowledge her personality and her bedside manner. She made time to see me personally 4 times after surgery. With her hectic schedule that meant alot. She explained my leak test In detail to me and my mom. She explained that when I woke up it wouldnt be pain so much as a pressure in your chest. Boy was she right! So after Getting some fluids in I started to feel much better. I went for a few walks with a physical therapist that actually made me feel better, to be up and moving. They bring an assortment of bariatric fluids to your room 3 times a day, to see which one you can tolerate. Plain yogurt never tasted so good! The I had my drain taking out after realizing I was healing properly. I was able to take a shower and all was well Thank you all for asking about me..I just saw some of your posts and felt I had to let you know..It means alot to know people Ive nenver met care about my well being..I thank you all again, and hope to talk with you all often..
  2. lindsay, as you and I both know, guys are not as tough as woman when it comes to medical issues :-). The gas pain never got excruciating at all. I don't want to lie, it was uncomfortable for a few hours, but never unbearable. If they ask you if you want to get out your bed or sit up the night of your surgery, say yes. Even for 2-3 minutes. it will help with gas pains. Plus , you have your pain meds. I only hit the button 2 times over days. So I promise, it's very manageable. The put the foley in when your still asleep, so you don't feel it going in (which is the worst part) coming out its just discomfort for 5-6 seconds, Feel like you have to pee real bad. Over before you know it. Each day gets easier I promise. You remember how nervous I was? There was no reason to be. just expect discomfort and you'll be fine. Remember , this is major surgery . It takes a little time to heal. Be patient with your recovery and you'll be fine. Side note: The unjury chocolate shakes have lifesavers with getting my liquid and protein in. Takes me 30 minutes but that's are new meal time

Omfg ... They Are Going To Shove...

I didn't even know I was getting one. Like chris said, it's not bad. Just a weird feeling when coming out. Going in I was still asleep. I believe it's at the dr's discretion. They wanna protect your bladder from overflowing and having urine flush back in to your kidneys.
  4. one more point, I weighed myself today, down 11 lbs already!!
  5. Thank you! right back at cha!
  6. Dam iPhone cut me off! Haha. any questions I would love to answer

  8. hey there! still in mount auburn. hopefully going home today! the surgery went great according to Dr Kim. I had my leak test, came back normal. No leaks :-) I'm very tired and my belly is sore. Not painful, just sore. After waking up I felt a burning in my lungs. for a few hours. From the anesthesia I'm told. I'm trying to get my fluids in but it's a challenge. Gets easier though. I'm feeling better today than yesterday. Lets hope that trend continues! Let me know if anybody has questions. happy to answer

You don't realize when it 's bring put it because your still asleep. It feels weird, s little uncomfortable at times. Coming out it feel like pressure, but it only takes 4/5 to take out. it's not fun, but not excruciating either

    In Tears..overly Fearful..

hey there. I had my surgery yesterday. I was so nervous too. I'm writing this from my hospital bed! look on some of the boards here. you'll see i posted about my fear everyday. this wast my first surgery. I was nervous over nothing. The waiting is the hardest part. You go in, they give you a sedative, the next thing you know you wake up in recovery. I am a little sore today, I don't want to lie. it's not pain, just a soreness. I had my surgery at 230 yesterday and I'm already feeling better. you will do great. Remember, this surgery is statistically safer than having your gallbladder out!
  13. in the waiting room !! can't believe this is really happening!
  14. Thank you so much Lindsay. I appreciate it a lot. I will try to post tomorrow or Tuesday on my experience
