Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hello fellow november sleevers!! My name is George. I'm 29, I'm being sleeved on 11/05/2012..I am so nervous..But, I'm so tired of consyantly going up and down with my weight..I've been really struggling the last 8 years with this..I feel like my weight robbed me of my 20's..I am looking forward to a new me!! I know it's going to take a lot of hard work on my part. But I am willing..This is the kickstart I need. I plan on meeting with dr's and going to the support groups long after my surgery. I want to change my brain too! I'm glad we have this group and can talk with eachother!!

Had My Sleep Study Last Night...

The same thing happened to me. I just told the guy, I haven't slept on my back my whole life. I literally can not fall asleep that way. They realized after I was staring at the ceiling for 4 hours I was telling the truth. They came in and said, just lay on your side. I was asleep in 5 minutes. I was in and out all night too. The sleep tech said they got enough for a study. I think you'll be fine with yours and not have to go back

It's nothing! I am the biggest baby when it comes to medical procedures and this was a breeze. It actually helped me make the decision that I could handle the sleeve. I'm still pre-op by the way. I have my date next month. If there was one thing I wish somebody told me before I had mine it would be to relax. Just relax. It's literally over so quick. You go in, lay down, they give you some valium through the IV. Then, they lay you on your side, prop a pillow behind you so you remain on your side. Next they give you some oxygen so your comfortable. Then they put a little mouthpiece type thing in your mouth with a hole in the middle. The hole is there so the doc can pass the scope. It's not bothersome at all. Then. when the doctor is ready to start, they give you a pain med. Thats all I remember! It took 15-20 minutes..I remember the doc saying "your all set, everything was fine"..Your alittle groggy after but thats all. My throat was a little sore from the scope, but that was it! You'll do fine!

  6. So I have my appointment with the surgeon Thursday. I am hoping, finally, I will get my date. What questions should I ask that maybe you forgot or didn't think of at the time? I am all kinds of nervous! I don't know why!
