  1. AND why am I gaining weight when I am doing so much exercise!!! I hate being a chub.
  2. Ughhh...same thing is happening to me. I had to get my band loosened due to some reflux issues b/c of viatiams I was not supposed to be taking. But I had amazing restriction, then I went back to the doctor to get it filled. I am .2 CC over of where I was before the unfill and there is no restriction. I feel it a little bit but then it pushes through and I can eat more. I had a barium swallow before my unfill and everything was fine with the band. And I feel fine, not like there was a slippage or anything. Doc fixed hatial hernia when I got the band and they pull out fluid everytime they do a fill so they know how much is in there. Can your band slip when you are loosened??? I have gained 10 lbs and buggin! In August it will be a year that I have the band, I have 50 lbs to go still! I hope there is no probelms because I hate surgery I am training for a triathlon which is requiring at least 2 hour workouts a day...do you think this has anything to do with my hunger levels and the band not staying tight?

Help: Pain in Throat, Chest and Back

So I had that pain you were talking about 2 weeks after my surgery(8/13/07)...before fills were taking place. Does it feels like somone is jabbing something straight through your chest, alot of pressure straight through?? It's not wrapping to your back is it?...b/c that is gall bladdetr symtoms. I am not gonna lie...it happened when I ate food I was advised not to eat or ate too much. I was also told by my doc that I was not eating slowly enough and most liklely something was getting caught. Those pains went away when I adjusted foods I was eating and actually as soon as I had my first tightening b/c then instead of getting caught the food just came right back up...lol. If you think you are eating slowly and chewing enough...slow down even more and chew even more. I never realized how fast I ate and how much I didn't chew food. Doing great now though...down 68 lbs! It's alot of adjusting to and eveytime i get a tightening I have readjust all over. But it's worth it!

    Brooklyn, NY Whatup?

It's like the full you feel after eating more after you already feel full. LIke after Thanksgiving and you can't move. But only from a small amount of food. You don't want to eat anymore that's for sure.

question about surgery requirements at NYU

I actually have Oxford and was banded August 13, 2007 with Dr. Christine Ren at NYU. Oxford did not require supervised diet nor a weight history (but in most cases most of us have been overweight for a long period of time, why surgery is our option). All they need is your BMI to be 40 or higher and your PCP deeming it medically necessary. I was so nervous about insurance but in end Oxford gave no problems and made the process ridiculously easy.

I am sure there are different considerations for people who are getting a different procedure done or re-banded b/c of lap-band malfunctions. I have never had a surgery so those are guidelines for me. But Karan stated she had high blood pressure which is one of the four problems. Does slippage happen often guys? Do they know what causes it?

    Oxford (Freedom) NYC

So guys I would like to give you an update on Oxfords deal on BMI below 40 (35-39.9). You must have one of the following 4 problems or they will not approve you. :faint:They are as follows: Weight related disabling joint disease; or Pulmonary hypertension of obesity; or Coronary artery disease; or Insulin-resistant type II diabetes Good thing about them is if yout BMI is 40 or greater it is very easy to get approved and you don't need medically supervised diets. I am going to have to gain 10-15 lbs to get my BMI to 40. It's worth it in the long run right?!?! :clap2:

    Oxford (Freedom) NYC

Did anyone get covered from Oxford Freedom with a BMI around 37 with Sleep Apnea and family history of Hypertenstion, Coronary Disease and high choleterol?? Also I have medical records indicating that I have had a weight probllem all my life...since 2nd grade! Please help. I know I want to go to Dr. George Fielding at NYU medical center but the nutritional assesment and psychologist are costly. I want to make sure I have a chance at approval before I go through the other steps. Please help!
