  1. protein shots are the wrong protein as well they are for bodybuilding types...it needs to be egg or whey or meat proteins to really be effective
  2. nesa. i had hernia repair as well...didnt really make much diff in the surgery time ect. just made it a bit harder for me to get my fluids in early on..i was just more tender...at least thats how i felt but it is nice to not deal with heartburn and reflux with everything i eat or drink now
  3. i have to say i think every single one of us who did this had that thought at least once after....in the hospital.....first night home....first time you try to eat non liquid foods....lol yes everyone has had this thought. it does get better, but i understand everyone saying that doesnt ACTUALLY make you feel better yet. but it will happen. i think it at least once a week when i stall (which seems to happen every 5 lbs). but every time i try on an outfit and i can no longer wear it i think DAMN yes it was worth it. just give it time and every day it WILL get a tinsy bit easier. eveytime you second guess yourself find the one thing that as of that moment is BETTER and hold onto that until then next day. it will see you thru. i was bedridden for 2 years, at 2 mos out i walked my very first 5 k. and i am still at the high 200's with weight. so i know if i can do this anyone can... keep your head up

    Two Weeks Post Op

3 mos out here and 1 egg still puts me right to the edge lol. but hey thats the point....i noticed mostly for me my body gets colder much more easily now. used to be i couldnt live with the a/c above 69...now i am freezing at 74. at least my electric will get better now, but i tend to carry a sweater everywhere lol. getting fluids is my downfall. i wonder if that struggle will ever get easier...hard to keep drinking when you are so full all the time and not thirsty. GL 2 u all
  6. all liquids count towards that 64 oz goal my doc said...even popcicles....personally i used isopure to help. specifically grape and fruit punch (tasted like watery kool aid) i added it to my water for flavor and protein. 20 oz bottle had 40 whey proteins in it. so i would take 10oz of isopure and 10 oz of water mixed 2 times a day....got 40 gram protein and 40 oz of water. then i had 2 atkins shakes over the course of the day for another total of 30 more proteins and 22 oz of fluid. and if i made that goal early on i was happy. more water and i was estatic. but at least i was hitting my goals of water and protein for the day in a total of 4 drinks. isopure i found at gnc and vitamen shoppe. hope that helps.....i still have issues getting my fluids even now .....but proteins i can find pretty well in good foods
  7. i know for me i DID really give the lap band alot of thought almost 2 years of thought lol. i knew i didnt want gastric because it terrified me to have stuff dettached and moved and reattached, so gastric was out....then along came the band had some friends do it....they got so so recults or none at all. they had issues... and another thing i couldnt get past having some weird plasticy thing in my body with scar tissue forming and slippage ect. so my mother in law got this vertical sleeve done....hmmmmm i had never heard of it at the time this was 2 years ago. i thought wow no moving parts around weird...no foreign objects left in me...low complications....this sounds perfect. so i watched my 59 year old mom in law do this and be at her goal weight 1 year later almost 100 lbs lighter and no complications whatso ever. she still could eat any food she wanted...just smaller amounts......no dumping syndrome ect... so i said this is for me sign me up...took about a year thru the military.....and my personal timing...but here i am 3 mo post op 70 lbs lighter....30 of it pre op diet. and feeling my best ever. i will never regret this decision. my life even if i couldnt lose another pound is already 1000 times better i was almost bed ridden for 2 years due to severe back issues and last month i walked a 5 k for first time in my life. no regrets!
  8. if you didnt have nerves i would be worried but....3 months out and i can say it was very easy for me. sleevers have the least complication issues...you get good meds in the hospital. i was walking within a few hours of waking up. i am barely 3 months out and i am almost 50 lbs lighter and my life is changing so quickly in so many GREAT ways. as soon as you get that IV in you wont remember anything and the hospital will pass in a blur and you will be home again. chin up your head is going thru worst case...mine did too. you will be fine and most likely be with or around 2 to 5 others who had same procedure to tallk with while in hospital i did:) GL to u

    February Sleevers

my surgery date is feb 26 my doc or rather my nut. put me on a 14 day liquids ONLY consisting of 5 shakes a day and a jello. its not even possible as i can choke down 2-3 shakes before my body say piss off lol. so i have added low fat skim milk cottage cheese around a cup a day just needed something semi solid and not chocolate flavored to help get to the 26, going to go grab some isopures this weekend to take the edge off the shakes. to me they are like watery kool aid but everyones diff. stick with grape or fruit punch for a first try as they are the least offensive haha. anyway i am ending day 3 and it does totally suck but i know the end of this and a new start is near so its worth it. i am not a big fish or chicken eater but oh my god i couold kill for some meat right now haha. GL everyone:)

    February Sleevers

started my pre op liquids was very excited now I'm starving. my doc wanted 2 wks of shakes 5x a day water and jello. well after 24 hours I decided that's not cutting it I can only get 3 down beofre I want to get sick. so I am semi cheating and added skim milk cottage cheese it has 10 g protein and that's making all the difference in how nauseous I am. I will go back to straight liq 2 days before surg thou.
  13. i am in VA mz so yup same zone:) i get my time on the 19th during pre op appt.
