All of my December sleevers...

I just jumped down off of a stall (s word!) and lost 3 pounds in one day - I am starting to believe that the body just does what it wants to, when it wants to, and you just have to look at the long run! -

Sleeve Surgery on December 6, 2012 I have lost 20 pounds since the day after surgery, but weight loss has been minimal (-1 pound) over the past 7 days. Boy, it's hard to go from losing a pound a day to losing .2 in a day! -
I took one week + one day off work, but I wish I had taken two weeks. I was very fatigued even though I had no pain or discomfort, and I found I had to go home and take a 2 hour nap between my morning work and my afternoon work! I averaged 6 hours of work per day that second week, like this: work 8 to 11 am, nap 11:30 to 1:30, work 2 to 5 pm! Third week, the fatigue had really resolved. Like I said, the only problem was the FATIGUE Good luck!

FUN! I'm in - I had my surgery on December 6th, and I am down 20 pounds. I lost -.2 pounds between yesterday and today, and I noticed that some people entered our first Thursday weigh in, so I went ahead and logged that - tell me if I'm doing it wrong! Thanks for doing this Kirsten -
I had surgery on December 6th, four weeks ago tomorrow - for the first two weeks, I felt like I was dragging my body around like a bag of bones, no energy, naps in the morning and afternoon. I could barely work the second week and had to cancel a bunch of stuff. I felt better the third week because I started soft foods, and now that I am eating "real" solid food, I really feel very energetic! I even went upstairs this morning to tell the kids goodbye when I was leaving for work - normally I yell for them to come tell me goodbye! So, hang in there, I think the fatigue is a common symptom and your relief may be just a week away!

I had surgery on December 6th and I have lost a total of 20 pounds - I stalled at 2 weeks, too - no weight loss (or weight gain) the whole week I started back on solid food...My husband says it is a marathon, not a sprint! RUDE NURSE! -

Baton Rouge here! I had VSG with Drake Bellanger at the new Woman's Hospital, and let me tell you, that place is SWANK! My husband kept taking pictures of the hospital room... Dr. Bellanger is awesome, can't say enough about him and his whole staff, great people. I was out of pocket. So far, so good - I agree with whomever saw Linda Braud the dietician, she is adorable and so helpful! -
3 weeks post-op and I'm struggling!
stinker replied to unsurenewbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery the day before you did - the protein shakes and unjury powder really kept me from being hungry, but I felt VERY FATIGUED. It was when I was able to eat protein again that I felt more energetic. I have had to experiment with how much food to eat, to learn to stop BEFORE I feel full. I use 8 oz plexiglass ramekins to get a good visual of how much I should eat (NOT THE WHOLE THING FULL! Just the bottom of the dish...). I have been managing about 3 oz of protein with a couple of bites of veg and fruit. I chew, chew, chew, and if I don't chew enough and I eat too mindlessly, I can feel the stretch in my sleeve. I agree with Suepeeps...if you are following instructions, the likelihood that you are doing any real damage is LOW! Also, at first, it seemed like I had a hard time distinguishing hunger from the sensation of my stomach being empty, or even just feeling thirsty. When you feel unsatisfied, tried sipping on some water or crystal lite and see if that helps? Good luck and thanks for your post! -

post op for December 11th

I had surgery December 6th, and I am down a total of 20 pounds. I am back on regular food, lots of protein (shrimp, chicken salad today). Tonight I had cabbage and black-eyed peas....just a TON less than I would have last year! I have felt really great since I came home the day after surgery, just had a problem with fatigue the first two weeks. I kind of wish my doctor had told me to take two weeks off, just for the tiredness factor. I feel like everything has gone better than I could have imagined! -
My surgery date is December 6 and I go for my pre-op visit next week - have any of you guys received all of your pre-op diet instructions? So far, I have not gotten much guidance from my surgeon's office, but I am assuming they will give me lots next week?

1 Year Post Op With Pics - Today Was A Good Day

Wow - thanks for sharing your story! And congratulations, I think your mental attitude has brought you so far on this journey! -
Hi, all, my surgery date was December 10th, but I just got a call from my surgeon's office asking if I can move to the 6th, so that he can do a televised continuing education surgery for webcast! How cool is that? I had a fear about dying during surgery, and this is so ludicrous, but now I feel that there is no way I will die because he will be on camera! LOL

My surgery date is December 6th - it is very interesting to see that other people have not been given pre-op diet instructions either! I did buy a food processor and a juicer, so I can juice some veggies after surgery for the vitamin benefit - I have heard from friends that veggies are the hardest to fit in post-op because most are low in protein and high in bulk, so you don't have "room" for them. Otherwise, I have ASPIRED to walk more and eat less, but honestly, all I've done so far is do too much work in preparation for being off!

Received Surgery Date. Now Fear Has Set In.
stinker replied to Dcline's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These posts are so helpful to me - I have problems with anxiety already, so I know I tend to imagine the worst. The thought I can't shake is that I might die during/after surgery and leave my family (two kids, 8 and 5, sweet husband). I honestly don't have any fears about anything else, just the dying. UGH. It helps me to see how common these fears are, thanks for sharing! -
Congrats, Caleb's mommy! My surgery date is December 10th, which is now just around the corner!

Hi All, New To Forums, This Is My First Post...pre-Diabetic
stinker posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there, I have been lurking and reading posts for a couple of weeks, in preparation for making a final decision to have VSG. I am 43, mother of two, working full-time, BMI = 35, pre-diabetic. My current weight is 214, and this has varied up and down about 20 pounds over the past 4 years (since my son was born). My grandmother died from diabetes related complications, my mother is insulin-dependent, and I desperately want to avoid that path. My main reason for considering surgery is for the potential benefit for blood sugar management and insulin control, though I know weight loss will help my health as well. I would be particularly interested in feedback from others who have had diabetes remission following surgery, or how surgery has affected those diagnosed with insulin resistance. I would also welcome feedback on surgeons in Baton Rouge, although I like the one I met with already (Dr. Bellanger). Thanks! Stinker- 3 replies
