I've been thinking about having bariatric surgery for many years and I've been obese for most of my adult life (I'm 51).
I finally decided that if I want to enjoy the rest of my life (and live longer) I'd better get serious about this.
I have tried to follow a "South Beach", diabetic diet for many years but I have problems with portion control (I'm always hungry) and with exercise. I'm hoping that this will be the tool I need to help me get both of those working for me instead of against me. Recently, my diabetes has been harder to control and I've had to start taking insulin shots. I don't want to go any farther down this path!
I'm hoping that losing this weight will improve my control of my diabetes and allow me to be more active with my family.
