  1. You look great!! Loose skin is my fear so I walk and move around the house like a crazy woman, I hope my doc releases me to be able to do weight training soon. I think swimming would be good for me too, walking is hard on my knees as well. Keep up the great work!

Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?

LOL, I'll have to try the chocolate almond milk, I've only drank the sweetened and the unsweetened vanilla.

    Haital Hernia?

I don't think you do because it's a common procedure that's done with the surgery, most people don't even know they have the hernia. I didn't know and my surgeon fixed it and insurance covered it.
  4. I had one the second day I was in the hospital, because of the liquid swallow test I had and they were giving me something called Regalan(sp) ? to keep my bowels moving. I wasn't a normal consistency though, I was doing the "running man" until I started eating solids, then everything drastically slowed down. Don't be worried though , your body may still be a bit sluggish from surgery. Call your doc to find out if there is anything they recommend.

    Paranoid?

Every plan is different for everyone. My plan, I could have pureed meats at your stage, no beef though, because they say beef is hard to digest. My plan allows grits and mashed potatoes, oatmeal and cream of wheat too, and I have seen several members say they weren't allowed those things. The plan they have for all patients is in my opinion is just a guideline, everyone heals at different rates and can tolerate different foods at different rates as well. Don't feel guilty I think protein is good in any way you can get it, as long as it is a lean source and you feel OK. I wonder though, why is there such a variation in meal plans and what makes the doc decide, this is what I want my patients to follow?

Soy Milk, Almond Milk, Cow Milk?

The same thing happened to me when I tried to make pudding with almond milk, because I am lactose intolerant as well. I use lactaid milk when I make pudding or cook something that requires milk, but I also take lactaid pills with it so there aren't any symptoms whatsoever, cause sometimes lactaid milk still gives me gas.

I think I had to be at my highest weight on this photo, should have been happy and having fun with my kids, but was sitting on the bench watching them play.

    Serious Cramping....

They calmed down a bit, but I know another round is coming so I will ask my surgeon about the Alieve, I have that in the cabinet too, but was afraid to take it because they told me no NSAIDS too. Thanks for the suggestions though, I really appreciate it
  16. That is so AWESOME and EXACTLY my goal, I just want to be healthy and eat normal, I'm still early in my journey, (almost 6 weeks out) and this is exactly what I told my husband, I want to eat healthy and normal, no artificial anything. I was surprised to find that all of the artificial sweeteners and additives can do more harm than good. I think this is also important because we are raising little girls, and I want them to know how to eat and live active and healthy lives as well. Thanks for sharing!! You are beautiful!
  17. I got mine from Meijer's and it says for occasional constipation. I sure hope it works. I'm having a hard time getting in extra veggies.

    Post Surgery Bra

I wore a bra when I went home from the hospital, I am very self conscious about my boobage, and was afraid my nipples would show through my shirt, or God forbid they peek from the bottom of my shirt. I had a hook in the front bra and it didn't bother my incisions, I have about 6 incisions and one is under my boob. I can no longer fit that bra (56/F) I had to go to wal mart and pick up a few bras, I was surprised to fit a 46 sports bra. I just use the sports bra for extra support over some of the smaller bras I already had. I'm not investing in any really good bras yet, I may give it a few months.
  19. I was wondering about this too, I bought some yesterday and tried it today, my tummy feels fine, but the box says it takes 6 hours to work, so, we shall see
  20. Yes I have tried vitamin water, that was one of the first liquids I had in the hospital, other than crystal light. I will have to get more of those , they are really good too.
  21. I'm on soft foods now and I've learned that depending on what I'm eating, I can only eat between 2 and 4 ounces of food. At first I didn't have a food scale but I bought one it helps a lot. If I eat seafood, I can eat more, but something dense like chicken, I can only eat 2 oz. or less, more like 1oz. The texture of chicken is still tough to me so I've been sticking with Tilapia, shrimp, salmon and those go down really well, but I have to make sure I eat really slow and chew well. Beef was hard for me to digest, I'm afraid to touch it because it gave me stomach issues before surgery. I still have slip ups here and there where if I don't chew good enough it will hurt going down or too big of bite will do it too, this is still a learning process for me too, we will get it though this though!
  22. That's why I am so confused, I had the regular one yesterday, and it didn't bother me, I wasn't paying any attention until I got halfway through the bottle. Today I got the low calorie low sugar one and it made me sick. Then I tried a blue one, a sip just to swallow a pill, and I got nauseous, this was a regular one. I have been drinking water the rest of the day with lemon and feeling fine, no more nausea. I'm just going to leave Gatorade alone for now sugar, or no sugar and stick to water with lemon. I agree though, the regular has 21 grams of sugar in a 32 oz bottle, that is too much, I need to keep drinking water anyway so I can keep it a habit, I was just trying to make a switch up from crystal light.
  23. That's great! I was sleeved on the 27th of September. I'm still on soft foods, and will be until 2 weeks before Christmas, so Thanksgiving is going to be interesting
  24. I think mine is sweet peas and Gatorade. With the sweet peas, the sick feeling was instantaneous, but the Gatorade was weird. I drank an orange one yesterday and I had no issues. Today was a different story, after half a bottle I started to feel nauseous and proceeded to dry heave. I blamed my husband for the sardine cans in the garbage, but then I tried a blue Gatorade and got nauseous again, so no more Gatorade for me, back to water.
