How To Find Your Necessary Amount Of Protien
TamaraS posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"The Institute of Medicine recommends that adults get a minimum of 0.8 grams of Protein for every kilogram of body weight per day to keep from slowly breaking down their own tissues [39]. That's about 8 grams of protein for every 20 pounds of body weight."http://www.dsfacts.com/protein.html Very interesting, this put me at a need for 120 grams I was checking out a fellow members post about weight stall, http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html, incredibly informative and found this protien information. They also talk about carbs, http://www.dsfacts.com/carbohydrates.html, if your curious -
How about adding some fish for lunch? Hang in there, it will be worth it!!

I also take colace, miralax and have had to do Enemas twice. No negative effects that I have experienced.

How Many Calories/sugar/carbs/protein
TamaraS replied to tqmeri30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told 60 - 80 grams of protien, No refined sugars or carbs for the first year or until I make goal, Complex Carbs under 50 and calories I am so confused on. I think you will have to experiment and find what works with your body and it will range from 400 to 1,000 calories from the feed back I have recieved regarding calories from others on this site I just got off a stall so Im not sure what I am doing is working. I was doing best with weightloss on clear liquids. Once I started real food it slowed down so much. I havent found the magic number of calories I personally need yet. Best of luck to you -

I am glad you brought this up ljam75, I wasn't sure how to do it... In regards to this I wanted to mention LADYIVY, When people don't respond to a post, it isn't a personal reflection on you as a person/your success and it definitely doesn't mean we do not care. When people are new to the site, they can lurk around for a while before finally posting. Then there are post that I read days, weeks, months after posted because I missed it or I simply read a post get what I need out of it and move on cause I am busy/searching for something specific. There are so many reason why people don't respond right away. It's hard sometimes to ask for attention/support when you need it but if you do, I am confident there are many people here willing to give it to you I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support of people on this site. I know you are hurt by the lack of responses to your post yesterday but know that it wasn't ment to be hurtfull, it happens all the time to many of us!

P.a. & Surgeon Against Me Getting The Sleeve
TamaraS posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my surgery is on thursday the 27th and today I had a pre-op physical. This is the second time I met with a P.A. and she warned against me getting the sleeve, very firmly I might add. Both P.A.'s say that if the bmi is over 40, weightloss is so much less (pretty much will gain lost weight in most cases) and I should get the bypass . Pretty much I wont even get close to my goal if I dont have the bypass. Im super bummed to meet so much opposition. She told me the day of surgery to be prepared for the surgeon to strongly advise I get the bypass again... I get it. But I have seen people on this site who have the same stats as me, (5"5, 323lbs) and seem to have done very well with the sleeve. I feel very strongly about sticking with my decision despite their prejudices but am I just being stuborn to a fault? She told me she recently had a lady come in after not losing weight on the sleeve and having to get a second surgery, the duodonel switch, and she was so upset she hadnt listened to their advice. Does anyone regret NOT choosing the bypass? Do you have a BMI around 57 and were also encouraged to not get the sleeve? -

Hunger Headaches After Vsg
TamaraS replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would get terrible headaches and a shakey feeling and get really irritated if I didnt eat for long periods of time, they were even worse when I cut the carbs out on the pre op diet but I have not had that issue after surgery. Only head pain I get is when I drink under the recommended water amount. I guess when losing fat and releasing trapped hormones/toxins and such might give headaches if your super sensitive. -
I did too. I started taking my multi vit in pill form after week 2. The gummies were gross. I havent had any issues eating so I didnt think it would be an issue and I was already taking pill form of b complex!

So happy to hear things are so well for you <3

September Sleevers Progress Updates?
TamaraS replied to Sunshine30's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery 24 days ago. I lost 19lbs in 8 days and NOTHING in the 16 days following, it sucks! -
I felt like I was starving too but around day 10 my new tummy started filling up easily, it was when I started soft foods! Your not crazy I promise. I thought the surgery didnt work at all because I was so insanely hungry. Take note of you mensteral cycle, it definitely increases the appetite. That was what happened to me, Hang in there!!!

Sounds like your doing a great job!!

Keep your head up Art song, we have to lose eventually!! Maybe your calories are too low or Water intake to low? This is what people question me about so I up-ed my calories from 400 to 800/900 and still no luck. I do neeed to drink more water though. I am only intaking around 70oz a day.
-
Thats good youve both seen a reduction over each week! I was only taking in Protein with very very low carb, honestly I thought it would be impossible for me to not lose weight with how low my carbs were. Guess my bodies adjusting to the 19 lbs I lost the first week. I am praying my weightloss will start back up this week though, im so discouraged!

I am 3 weeks out today! Totally bummed about the fact I havent lost ANY pounds the last two weeks *super sad face* SInce we are all around the three week mark, will you share your weightloss patterns the last three weeks??? Id really appreciate it!
