HELP! I have a BIG problem with snacking. What can I Do?
TamaraS replied to sweetgirl1314's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel you, I also snack way too much at times and not on healthy things. This is really hard but we can do it. Bad habbits are hard to break. Time and effort will get us to where we need to be Best wishes on your journey! -
I know how you feel, had my surgery at the end of september and in the last few months the scale barely moves. At least I know why, Im stuggling with changing my eating habbits. This is so much harder than I had ever expected...

The sleeve will help you learn to eat less. I dont believe his points are valid, infact he sounds very negative and unsupportive. This is your life and you only get to live it once! I hope you follow your heart and get your weight off regardless of his input. I was fortunate to have a very supportive husband. Neither he nor I thought the sleeve would be effective for me because 1. I was extremely over weight since a toddler and 2. because every diet I have ever been on resulted in me gaining more weight. In 6 months I have lost over 70lbs. It seems surreal! I haven't over come my food addictions. Its a constant battle. If you were able to over come them on your own you wouldn't need surgery! The sleeve has affected my life in ways I would have never imagined. I am working on my goals and dreams. I didn't value myself enough to do this before. The decrease in my joint pain is unbelievable. For the first time ever I was able to climb rocks on the beach and tide pool with my 6 year old, never thought I'd have the energy or strength to do that! I know I went on a bit of a tangent but there is so much of life we miss out on being severly obese and there are so many wonderful things that begin happening as the weight comes off. It makes me sad when I hear that family arn't supportive.

What is average weight loss for 1 month?
TamaraS replied to taffyscorner76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have averaged about 8 lbs a month, excluding my first week when I lost 16lbs and this last week when I lost 11lbs. Its frustrating losing slowly but as long a our numbers are going down we are on the right track! This last week I doubled my water intake and upped my protein which resulted in a big loss, might be worth a try!! -

I perfer to get my protein from food because I feel hungry every couple hours. I am totally bummed my hunger hasn't gone away like many others that have had this surgery. I do have a shake almost every morning when im working and dont have time to make Breakfast. If I have a lower protien day I add another shake before bed. I intake 90 to 120 grams of protein daily. -
Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!
TamaraS replied to TamaraS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just hit 4 months yesterday I stopped losing weight at the very end of 2 months and had gained 4 lbs during my third month. I use syntax nectar Protein shake in the morning and again before bed if my protien is under 70. That particular shake has 25 per scoop so its a really easy way to make sure Im getting over my recommended amount! I have read a lot of slow losers have trouble with water and protein so when I increased it I had no idea the weight would come off so quick in a week but its totally worth the extra effort to ensure my weightloss continues. Best of luck!! -
Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!
TamaraS replied to TamaraS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I get in two Water bottles before Breakfast and at work I talked to my manager about keeping water bottles on me and she was totally supportive so during the work day I am constantly drinking and make sure to get atleast 3 water bottles down while there. It's the same at home, while relaxing I keep a water bottle on me all the time. I noticed that purchasing a case of water has helped me immensely. I never drank this much when I used a cup. Counting the water bottles is a lot easier way of tracking how much I am intaking also. I just wish I had started doing this sooner!!! -

ADVICE ON DIETING BEFORE SURGERY
TamaraS replied to amys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didnt stay faithful on the diet before surgery, I cheated a lot. I think this is a huge red flag, warning us we are not ready to commit to the surgery. Even though you physically wont be able to eat as much after surgery you still will be on a diet. I got this surgery thinking I would have no hunger after surgery so of course I could stay on the strict diet they put us on for the first year. I sure was mistaken. This surgery didnt take away my hunger although it has lessened the severity of it. I am losing really slow because I dont follow the rules. I just wanted to share because I should have waited until I was ready to have this surgery. I feel terrible when I see people posting they are constantly cheating on the pre op diet because I see myself and I know the road ahead of them is going to be super bumpy and not at all what they expect. This surgery isnt a miracle worker, lots of hard work has to be put into it as with any diet weightloss plan. -
