I really didn't think this day would come. So many personal hurtles and worries about insurance. Im estatic! I really look forward to starting my new life which won't revolve around food. It's going to be hard, so hard, but it will be so worth it. I just hope and pray I make it through surgery <3.

Tears came shortly after we got off the phone! There are few things in life I have wanted as bad as I want this Its so very exciting!!

I totally feel your impatience! It felt like things were going so slowly I decided to pay out of pocket for the psych and registered dietician to cut down on long wait times for approval. Im not sure what insurance you have or what the requirements are but for me personally the process took a month from first meeting with surgeons office til my surgery date which I just got approval for today scheduled for the 27th! If I hadent paid out of pocket the process would have been more like 2.5 months. Hang in there!!

Stokes mommy, the (r n y) rny is the gastric bypass Kmwheel is right about further surgery if it doesnt produce necissary weightloss. You can have the duodenal switch if you dont lose satisfactory weight with the sleeve. Ive heard the switch is the most effective for major speedy weightloss. I never had much of a struggle with the decision. I didnt want to have nutrient deficencies to the extreem that gastric bypass suffer from. Lots more dr. visits for years having to make sure your doing ok. I read horror stories of osteo perosis and otheer irreversable damage in people years afterwards so I didnt even consider it. Weight loss is better in some cases. Best thing you can do is internet searches on both Good luck with your decision!

Protein Shakes And Fear Of Hurling
TamaraS replied to billyvmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 days since a BM? Even when we had my grandma on liquids she would still have bm's, obviously very small. After 3 days they said it becomes toxic and builds up leaking into the blood stream if I remember correctly. Was the Dr. worried about it being 10 days? -
Try increasing your calories for a day or two and then drop back down, it seems to trick the body, kind of like switching up exercises! I havent got the chance to try this myself but have read many postings here about this exact situation and the people who have tried this did well, good luck!

Finally.......liquids Are Over ;)
TamaraS commented on mrscastillo's blog entry in Tiffany's WLS journey
I was reading your other post about gaining 4 lbs and just wanted to let you know your weight gain is almost surely caused by this time when you didnt intake protein. Your body goes into starvation mode and now that your eating mushys it is holding on to every calorie you eat! SO hopefully a little more time on the mushy stage will kick your body into weightloss mode Best of luck! -
I haven't had surgery yet, my skin crawls hearing some of these statements. Really hurtful to think people I am around during meals could be feeling all this animosity towards me while I consume food in larger than needed amounts Especially people who use to do the exact same thing... I would hope to have some empathy after my surgery for others in my current position. If you can relocate that inner fat person for a moment and imagine reading utter disgust on the faces of others looking at you (its obvious, we have all experienced the looks) and remember how you felt as that person, maybe this will help. <3

I totally feel you. I have been over weight all my life and I constantly encounter these situations. Its hurtful to me but it is so natural for people to behave this way. It sure takes a toll on the self esteem though...
