Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
Fun size replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hold on Ladies! I believe I am the queen of slow losers. I'd gladly relinquish my crown for just a few pounds. Anyhow, as sad as I am to share this status, I am relieved to learn that I am alone on this throne. I hope we all move to the losers bench soon. It's just scientifically impossible not to. I've quit weighing myself because it just makes me mean and grouchy. -

How was your first day back? What grade do you teach? I am a retired second grade teacher. I miss it a lot. I think we were sleeved on the same day (11/12). I am the slowest loser ever. How are you doing? -
My stall is 11 days. I am not a pleasant person. Since my husband is the only one who know, he gets to hear me whine, moan, crab, complain. He just laughs at my grouchiness. I, however, am not laughing. Walking....yep. The dogs are tired of walking. Drinking....well I slosh when I walk. Scale moving....nope. Scientific wonder.

I didn't tell anyone. I am so happy that I don't have to deal with questions.

Congrats! I am still waiting. I told my husband that I feel like tomorrow will be the day this stall breaks. He'll be thrilled because his wife isn't usually this bitchy! I've amazed myself at just how groughy I can be. wow. Anyhow, I am happy for you! -

And this morning I am up 2 pounds. 500-600 calories a day, walking, drinking. Scientifically impossible, but still true. I am officially the first vertical sleeved, very compliant patient to defy science. Welcome to my pity party. Bring your own water. -

A while ago I posted that if and when I stalled, I'd just accept it and continue on. Well, I am here to tell you that lied, lied, lied! It's been 8 or 9 days and I am going crazy!! I am behaving really well. I keep my nutrional manual open and follow it to the letter. This morning I gained a pound!!!!! Yesterday and Saturday I walked 2.5 miles and I am heading out to walk today just as soon as I am finished venting. My poor dogs are getting tried of all this walking. My cheerful disposition has left. I am getting in all my water. I am not cheating. I am measuring. All I can say is GRRRRRRR!!!! -

The videos aren't "knock your socks off wow", but just enough information to make you feel comfortable with what you're experiencing. I hope they help. -

4 Days Out And Wtf Is Wrong With Me?
Fun size replied to buttrfli1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's perfectly normal! You need only liquids because your stomach is really swollen inside from the surgery. But the liquids flow through so quickly that you don't really feel full. I was sleeved on 11/12 and felt the same as you do that first week. Someone posted a link to a video by Dr. Alveraz that explained it all. It made me feel so much better knowing it was normal. I don't have that link but he is on youtube with questions of the week. Helped me alot. -
Me too! Dr. White on 11/12. When were you sleeved?

1 Week Post-Op Update With Picture
Fun size commented on blessedw2's blog entry in My Weightloss Journey- 11/19/12
One week post op. I can't imagine that you were expecting some big changes after one week. Cut yourself some slack. You just had major surgery. Your insides are all swollen. Your body is not too happy at this moment. Give your body and your head a few weeks of adjusting. You will be so happy with the choice you made. Repost in a week to tell us all how great you feel. And you will feel great. Promise. -

Drink, ladies, drink. I almost never drink plain water. I drink diet Splash (berry is my fav) zero vitamin water, zero calorie gatorade, even hot water with sugar free jello. I drink apple cider, hot (not often) diluted apple juice. I bought sugar free hot chocolate but I haven't had any yet. I figure that whatever I drink has to be good for me so it better have vitamins, electrolytes, or yummy flavor. But I drink all day. I have these mini (think airplane) bottles of apple pie liquor in my laundry room. I keep thinking that would be a good drink, but so far I have behaved. Just thinking it is good enough. Anyhow, drink, drink, drink. It will solve most of your problems. You do not need 800 calories. You need protein and liquids. My protein shakes are Premier shakes from Costco. Sam's has them too. 30 grams of protein and 160 calories! Sugar free frozen fruits bars are yummy, 25 calories. The health food section of the grocery store has great cream soups. Tasty, liquid, hot and a little protein to boot. Try a little very creamy cereal. Cream of rice and oatmeal are my choices. The thing is, these are all liquid. You are likely a little dehydrated. So go drink! -

NewKezia, I was sleeved on 11/12. I wake up every day with a smile on my face. This is the best decision I've made for me in a long, long time! I planned on being miserable for the first week or so. I wasn't. I planned on being perfect with not a single diet mistake. I wasn't. I thought my age, 61.5 would be as issue. Nope. I thought my height, 4'11" would be an issue. Not. I have not had a single problem. The scale goes down every day. I plan on having some stalls and I will just keep at it. This, so far, is a wonderful experience. -

Sleeve Verses Rny - Friend Pleading That I Shouldn't Get Sleeve
Fun size replied to HOLLAND's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Holland, I did extensive research before I chose the sleeve. I am a breast cancer survivor. I am 61.5 years, 4'11 tall. Being older and short makes losing weight more difficult. I was sleeved on 11/12, down at least 10 pounds in two weeks and I feel fabulous. My research led me to believe that, in the long run, the sleeve is substantially safer. Ten years down the road, the people who were not deligent about taking Vitamins (and for RNY that's a ton of vitamins all day, every day) experience serious health issues due to malabsorbtion of nutrients. Their teeth rot, their hair falls out, they have physical health issues. I already know that I am not going to remember to take all those vitamins. I also know that I don't want anything rerouted. Period. I went to six months of support group meetings before my surgery. What I learned is that the RNY patients still had issues with hunger. Not some. Most. I also met people who gained a lot of weight back. One patient has never lost weight, but she eats alot of pizza and ice cream (some mental health issues there). There is a thread on this site titled "weight gain with the sleeve" or something like that. Read it. My Dr.'s practice is a Center of Excellence. Not sure what that means, but my RN daughter says it's a big deal. He does RNY and Sleeve. If the sleeve wasn't good, he wouldn't do it. Just like everyone said, do your own research. You can change your mind at any time. You need to be happy with your choice. Your friends and family love you, want the best for you. After you do our research, show them the facts and how you came to your decision. -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PROUD GRAMMY!

I wish I'd known how easy this is! Twelve days out, I don't even feel like I had surgery. I was worried that at 61.5, I'd have a little trouble. None, zero, zip.

Sleeved on 11/12. Nothing hurts. Nothing tastes funny. Insides are working great. Down 18 lbs. I have tons of energy and a constant smile on my face. My biggest concern is the outcome of the Michigan/Ohio State game. -

!!!!!!! The day after Thanksgiving and I am down 3 pounds! I must have been transported to an alternate reality. Where ever I am, I like it here. My extended family never even noticed that I pushed arund food on my plate and didn't eat it. I nibbled on mashed potatoes. I was in charge of sweet potatoes so I made the regular marshmallow kind and a whipped sweet potatoe dish, very soft and mushy and oh, so good. It had 1/4 cup sugar in the whole dish, made with 6 organic potatoes, some milk and eggs(protein!). Yum. I still have several days of liquid diet but my NUT said just go easy, small bites, slowly. Chew, chew chew. (OK, chew, chew, chew reminds me of the little engine that could.) I am rambling, but giddy with happiness and just fine with life. -
