I grew up on the heavier side, but was always active with sports. It took me 10 years to figure out I couldn't out train a bad diet. I LOVE food. I love the taste, smell, texture, and the burn of a coke with a good meal. Lol. But, I made the choice to end my love affair with food and got sleeved 7/17/2012. My interest in WLS began over 2 years ago and I met with multiple surgeons in the Dallas area before deciding on Dr. Nick and the Nicholson Clinic. I began my weight loss journey at nearly 250 lbs (5' 6") and was lucky to meet Insurance Requirements of BCBS Tx just barely!!! I lost 15 lbs in the pre-op diet. Surgery went smoothly on 7/17 and I was lucky to have family and friends support. Days 2 and 3 after surgery were rough for me due to vomiting which is scary! I took off a week and a half from my desk job and still, 11 days out, have some soreness and intermittent pain on my left side which appears to be normal.
My motivation for surgery cannot be summed up easily. So many factors go into this choice, but health, confidence, and "feeling like me" tops the list.
I am still a beginner and looking forward to how far I can go with this.
