5 Confessions (Join In)
smb replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 months postop. I need to get back on track as well. My husband keeps saying I am getting smaller, but my weight is the same. I am jealous of people who lose weight without exercising. -
Is 65 Lbs A Good Hunk Of Weight To Be Down At 5 Months?
smb replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of times too, they are younger and/or men! I just turned 40 and after 2 kids, losing weight is A LOT more difficult than it was 10 years ago -- surgery or not! -
What Are You Eating Tomorrow?
smb replied to sleeve_sister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months post op and my goal is to eat a MEAL and not graze all day. Turkey Some stuffing Some potatoes Some green Beans And no doubt I will keep picking at turkey since we'll be at home and I'm cooking. It'll still be 1/4 of what I would have eaten before! Solid 40 lbs lost as of today. -
Am I The Only One Who Started To Hate The Taste Of Water?
smb replied to SweetSaso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 3 months post op and just now can I start drinking plain Water without feeling nausea. Crystal light and SF kool aid DID help, though only the fruit punch flavor and half diluted. -
Cashew Nuts And Almonds - To Eat Or Not To Eat
smb replied to 39m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
100% true. 1 oz of almonds is great. But I can easily nibble on 3 oz slowly over an hour, and that's a lot of calories. I take 1 oz in a snack-size baggie to work and that's it. If you don't have a scale, 1 oz is one light handful. -
Help Needed - Eating At Night
smb replied to Chicago1962's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a similar problem. I try to drink flavored Water and eat chicken breast meat when I want to snack. Sometimes the last thing I want is chicken, but if I know that's all I'm "allowed" to have and I still don't want it, then I can concede that I'm probably not hungry. -
9 Month Pics! (My First Time Sharing Photos)

Your whole mid-section is GONE!!! Well done -
Yes! I am 2 months post-op and I have the fear that every pound I lose is just Water or it'll be the last one.

I've been riding the same 3 lbs up and down for about FIVE weeks now, but I'm down 1 size. It's maddening.

I'm 6 weeks post-op on Wed and am battling a 3 week stall (uuugh) but old jeans have started to fit again AND I can cross my legs once again! So while I am tired of not losing actual weight, I'll try to focus on the positives.
-
Yes, I had this exactly at about 2 or 2.5 weeks. It lasted for about 4-5 days while stuff healed inside. I couldn't walk or move much without a stabbing knife pain, which clearly was due to incision stuff. I was even in tears sometimes. What helped me was Spanx and first aid tape. I taped up the painful areas so they couldn't jiggle or get stretched, then wore Spanx to hold it in. It was magic!!! After it had a chance to heal, I was pain-free and have been for 3 weeks now.

Thanks you guys -- I have to admit it feels pretty darn good to sit at my desk with my legs crossed without forcing it too much.

Does Anyone Else Eat As Much As Me?
smb replied to lizzybean3377@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I can eat that much. I'm almost 6 weeks. I truly cannot understand the people who say they barely force down 400 calories/day. Two Protein drinks are already 320. I eat between 1000 and 1200/day. Like you, it's about 1/3 or 1/4 what I would've eaten before. Are you losing weight? I'm currently in a stall so I've been trying to really watch and find more time to exercise. (not easy with 2 little kids and stressful job) -
Yes, it feels like a burning pull? That happening to me. Take it easy, don't jiggle your stomach. It'll heal!

Any August Sleevers Living In Stall Hell?
smb replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES. I had surgery on 8/29 and stall started 9/15 or so. I am finally pain-free so I'm going to try to exercise more to try to break it. -
I Feel As Though I Am Going To Fail At This Like All The Other Times... Any Encouraging Words?!?

It varies by doctor, it's not an insurance thing. You'll find if you stick around here that every surgeon has their own plan -- some very strict, some very liberal, some pretty average. The 2 week pre-op liquid seems relatively standard. Also if you stick around, you'll see people swear by their doctor's plan like the bible "You ate WHAT at 2 weeks post surgery???!?!?" so don't let the different plans confuse you.

When you get shellac removed, the nailbed can be dry, but goes back to normal in a couple days. My nails aren't damaged though, quite the opposite.

7 Months Now, Slowest Losing Ever
smb replied to momof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You bring up a good point that 1200 calories may not work for her, but I think for most of us, we could definitely lose weight with WW if we could actually stick to 1200 calories. That sh*t ain't easy! -
I usually treat myself to a spa-like place that does nails vs. a nail salon because it's calmer and cleaner. With shellac, I can usually go 3 weeks. I love it! I can't even wear normal polish anymore. Another selling point about the UV light: your nails are dry instantly! To the person who bought a UV light: does it really work at home like a salon?? I've been thinking about getting my own...

7 Months Now, Slowest Losing Ever
smb replied to momof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's wrong with "eating to the old 1200 calorie diet"? It seems like that would be the most sustainable long term.
