I'm 12 days out and feel like I can eat the same as I always did. I'm trying to hold back and stay on the dr's orders but I am very hungry. I am looking forward to my fill because the scale started going up instead of down. The fill is not until Dec 20th. I don't know how I will hold out till then, but I have to. So don't feel alone your not in the boat by yourself. I have read comments like this before. I guess we just have to be strong till our fill dates get here. Try not to overdo and don't forget to excercise.

Looking for November 2005 Banders!
starrlighter replied to bostonfatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nov 16th by Dr Speigel in Houston Texas. -
Always crush your pills so you don't risk them getting hung. Pill crushers are cheap at any pharmacy (walmart, cvs, etc.) surgery to have a stuck pill removed is costly. My doctor said it was ok to crush my metformin xr it just becomes regular instead of extended release. After banding the dosage may change. Good luck.

My surgery date is Nov.16th. Will join ya'll soon. I'll be glad when it's behind me. Good luck to all of you on your journey. -
Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on nov. 16th so I will be able to tell you more after that. However I know he is experienced, and that is important to me. I hope we both will have a good experience with him. Jury is still out on the office staff. I have not dealt with them enough to make a good judgment. Be prepared to do all the leg work on getting yourself approved on the insurance issue and you won't be dissapointed. Weel good luck on your research.

I was wondering about how the port feels under your skin. I'm concerned that it will drive me nuts. Little things like that tend to get under my skin so to speak. Ha! Ha! But really, how does it feel? I really need to know what I'm in for. Sincerely , Starrla

Thank you so much for all of the imput. I am still very concerned how I will deal with all of the emotional eating after the surgery, but I believe this will give me the edge I need to succeed at overcoming the food addiction as well as the emotional eating I do. Dr appt 11/18 hope for the best! thanks to all who wrote in, Starrla

My question is about the emotional side of the lap band surgery. After you have the surgery and you feel up fast physically, what about the mental aspect of eating? I know for myself I eat for emotional reasons. Happy, sad, mad, tired, etc. How do you handle that mental feeling of wanting to eat all the time? If I could get control of that, I wouldn't need the surgery. How does one help the other if you get my meaning? I will appreciate any insight into this pondering. Sincerely, Starrla

I am considering a lap band. I take alot of supplements daily some are of the pills are very large (like the fish oil pill) how do you approach pill taking? Also I was considering dr. spegiel in port neches texas but have heard nothing but bad comments about him . Any feedback? How about dr hahn in orange texas? Thanks in advance

Thanks so much for all of your replies. Will consider Dr Spivak, though would like to find a doc close to home for easy follow up treatment. Most pills are vitamins though my diabetic meds are large and time released. Dumb question but what's PB mean. Thanks, Starrla
